VINTAGE 1980 Yamaha Enticer Gets Former Glory REVIVAL - $500 Cheap Snowmobile Challenge

- I bought this 1980 Yamaha Enticer 300 snowmobile project to go do wintery snow things with @JunkyardDigs and crew at the 2023 Chetek Winter Fest in Wisconsin this February (link below). I found the snow machine on Facebook Marketplace for a pretty fair $500 seeing as it was complete, runs, and looks like a ton of fun. This is my first snowmobile experience; let's see if we can't resurrect the once abandoned beast with some budget upholstery work, cleaning, polish, and a couple spark plugs - will it run around the yard and look good doing it?

" I bought this because Kevin told me to, for... reasons" 🤣🤣
Glad you had fun on the ole girl!
😂 I wouldn't get to experience it otherwise
Nice find Dalton!- I'm Canadian- we know sleds, these little guys used to rip through snow where the bigger boys couldn't- other then the seat, this is in amazing condition! If you replace all bolts and screws with stainless, it'll last forever! Grats!
It's really nice, can't have many hours on it
Yes sir I love those sleds and have a few of them and they are rippers I have enticers and exciters and Yamaha sleds are the king in my book super reliable and super lite and fast
@@PoleBarnGarage nice to see an extremely dirt pour person on youtube making content
Sweet sled brah
I like the snow suit.
JD: "It literally looks like you threw it in the trash".
Saw you on Junkyard Digs and now I’ve been binge watching your videos. Love your channel. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Awesome! Thank you!
Me too!
Same here! Love the videos, and you’re funny as hell!
Me 4* lol😂
I'm starting to think, JD is the mature, voice of reason in this outfit.
Could be!
Dalton: "I know what I'm doing.... and we'll just continue duct taping"
I wish I could see the look on JD's face hahaha
I think there is some influence from the Red Green upholstery shop somewhere in there. Brilliant use of "the handyman's secret weapon". I think the only thing you have to worry about is Kevin finding out about the Wankel Engine snobbery club.
I grew up riding a 1980 Enticer 340. Same sled pretty much. Lots of fun and tough to kill! Japan built these babies tough!
Another reason I love watching your videos is. When I was younger I worked for my friend who was more like family. His shop was just like yours. Made of tin. When it got that shop was colder than a meat locker. He passed away a few years ago and every time I watch your videos I think of him. He was funny just like you. He heated that place with a wood burning stove. Every once in a while he would throw a piece of inner tube in it and it would make that stove turn bright red from the heat. I’d just shake my head.
JD made me choke on my water “it only looks like you’re putting it in the trash” 😂😂😂. Things kids say
The amount of times a trash bag has helped me in reupholstering things is unbelievable - Dalton is my spirit animal.
Every vehicle I own has trash bags under the covers lol
Anything with an engine is inherently fun. Great video. Keep up the great content.
Thanks, will do!
Riding the legend - Yamaha Enticer! Everyone who rides today has a good story about mercilessly beating those things and they keep in tickin'.
FYI that "sissy bar" is actually called a yoink bar. If you get it stuck, you use that to yoink it out of whereever it's stuck at. 😂
PBG: "I can probably just hold it"
OSHA has entered the chat... LOL
Seriously though, for $500 this was a killer find. With how well it runs you just know someone really loved and enjoyed that thing and babied it (at least mechanically anyway) what a killer deal and I would be amazed if you couldn't flip this for double what you paid for it after all is said and done.
My first sled was a 79 enticer 300 in white. Awesome little sprint sled, didn’t like deeper snow though. But this is how the addiction starts. I currently don’t have a sled, not much use for one in Arkansas, but have a half dozen atv’s, a side by side and bikes. Thinking about getting a few sleds again to take to Colorado. You’ll want an 8,10,12mm wrench, flat and Phillips, pliers and plug wrench. Always make sure your spare belt is good and carry extra fuel pump, some fuel line, clamps and emergency pull rope.
That thing was going pretty well on mud, wait until you get it on snow. I'd say if you care, check the bottom of the skis, if they're all rough and rusty it will slow the thing down. Just surface rust will wear off quickly when you start to drive it. Also, the skis need skegs, or steel bars that run the center length of the ski, they help with steering and will serve as a sacrificial wear surface to protect the skis when you run across the road, (or just go mudding on it). They're cheap, but you'll want some if the ones on it are gone.
They're in great shape, I think it's a very low hour machine
Retro cool 😎 snowmobile
Yamaha 2-strokes were some of the best ever made. I’ve ran Amsoil synthetic in my Yammer Hammer outboard for years with good results. Very little smoke and no fouled plugs.
Turned out way better than I thought it was going to be
I started watching this channel after you and kevin worked on the black squarebody and now it's one of my favorite channels. It doesn't snow much where I live (NC) but I always wanted to ride a snowmobile.
They are FUN!
You are giving your son a lot of good memories. Your a great dad. Keep on being you brother. Doing a fantastic job
I appreciate that!
Oh man! When I was a kid, the neighbors had a couple old ski doo's. We would get a long rope and tie up one of those metal sledding disc's behind them and take turns getting pulled behind the snowmobile in a big field. This usually resulted in bruises, goose eggs on our heads, snow packed inside our coats, hypothermia and hours of fun! This brings back memories!
LOL we used to use the hood of a car as a sled :) Good times!
Right on! Thanks for watching!
That's a really nice sled! Those Yamahas were well built in those days. I had a 72' Yamaha GP433 and an 83'? Enticer, both great runners. Brought back some memories hearing that two stroke, twin cylinder rattle! Great videos my friend!
Thank you! I still know nothing about them, but it's a fine machine
Can't wait to see you and Kevin and whoever else will be there put them to the test thank you for all your videos and hard work
Dude this was my first sled we used and abused it for years and was indestructible fun af 😂enjoy don’t worry about the smoke it’s supposed to that just means the oil is mixing with the gas
I think that is a great starter sled, try not to do too much 'dry' riding, the track sliders need the snow for lubrication. Have a great time with Kevin and Mook Riding next month!!
can't wait to see you and Kevin tearing it up on those, should be a blast!
It's gonna be great!
Man, I just watched Kevin's video with his snow mobile, I think you guys are going to have a blast... breaking things 🤣👍🏻
I've just about gotten caught up on your videos. 2 things come to my attention, please don't EVER stop including J.D. in everything you can seems to me like your doing great Dad stuff with him neither of you will ever forget it and one little piece of advice, never ever get rid of that GTO, out of all the cars I've had in 48 years of driving the ONLY one I miss is my Goat.👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Point taken!
You and JD make the perfect team. He always has the best commentating. Love the sled.
A friend had one growing up on a snowmobile it's bad for the clutch if you slow down going into your turns keep that in mind and have fun
Speeding up in the turns is bad for my neck 😂
Yeeeehaw!!!! Love how his mate said grab something and he gets one cheap enough to just have fun.
Rare footage of Larry Enticer being born
Nice sled and in pretty good condition. Nice job on the seat re upholstery. Looked pretty good doing the grass drags at the end as well. ✌️
First thank you for the video appreciate sharing your everyday things with us and second then you're constantly making me laugh during your videos your your personality and your non-seriousness is awesome I don't see how JD doesn't laugh constantly because you're hilarious man and I like the way you be your videos no sense being serious and getting Po all the time but thanks and I think this channel will go a long ways because not only do you actually put the vehicles on the road you make it fun to watch thank you
Kind words!
That's got to be one of the Most original Yamaha I've ever seen
That old ET is a sought after item and one fine piece of machinery. It will be worth thousands in no time, I love it.
I love taking people snowmobiling for the first time
This was an interesting video in my opinion JD is a great camera man. I think you did a good job being creative on things working with a low budget.
I didn't know I suddenly needed 2 vids from my fav rustbucket engineers about snowmobiles in 1 day.. You sure ripped right through that powder rightously.. :')
I just watched Junkyard Digs finish up his snowmobile and now it's time to watch this one. Great video as usual
Thanks for watching!
And once again... success 🙌
It's a pretty fun little unit!
my first "big" sled was and still is a 1980 Enticer 340 Deluxe. looks great and the enticers are kind of abundant in the snowmobile world. the blue 300s are pretty cool since in the early 80s all yamaha really made were red and black sleds. neat piece
You bring "hack job" to a whole new level! I love it.
Looks like a blast! It really did clean up surprisingly well.
Not bad!
When all else fails, we're going back to the duct tape. Love it
That’s a great little sled. It cleaned up very well and seems like it has plenty of power. Honestly I think the biggest performance upgrade was the wind suit and goggles. Just don’t forget the cowboy boots!
Nice job on the sled! Can’t wait to see how it goes on snow. I’ve been riding them since I was about eight years old, they are a lot of fun! Makes the snowy winters up here in New England a little more tolerable!
Says Stay off rocks immediately drive across rocks haha love this dude
Let’s get Dalton to 100k+ subs by April 1st - and that’s no foolin’!
Great stuff Sir!
God Bless
😎
I'm not holding my breath, but would be nice!
@@PoleBarnGarage I’m spreading the word best I can!
Watch the videos twice so might aswell comment twice. Love the content thanks again.
Thanks again for your time mate, snowmobile on the rocks, great idea. Can't wait for the next video with what's his name from junkyard digs, I reckon the two of you are going to have loads of fun. Hopefully there's snow! See you next time, maybe the eagle, that's always entertaining.
There's something so wholesome, down-to-earth and downright entertaining about these Midwestern car communities and their CZcams channels, plus you learn along the way too!
Larry Enticer would be proud! Just gunna send it!
Superglue does not like to flex as I found out at a recent wedding I went to when I tried to glue the sole of my shoe back on. But I guess you know that now. You take such care with your workmanship. An example for us all! Thank you.
Good point. Not something I took into consideration
This could make for lots of fun lol
Yer gonna have a good time in Sconny. :) I grew up in central MN, and we got lots of snow, ground covered from late November until mid March, lakes frozen over a foot or two. At 13 you could get your snowmobile saftey cirtificate (taught after school!) and it was like a ticket to freedom! Now I had 50 and 100 dollar beaters but they are what I cut my wrenching teeth on, and with the saftey cirtificate you could ride the road right of ways (ditches) etc and I rode to school and to visit my friends. Spent lots of time two up on a '79 340 twin Enticer! I met Kevin in MN last weekend and saw the mighty rotary Panther in action. :)
Nice!
Definitely my current favorite CZcams channel
Thanks brah
I’ve seen people run these things across water before. Just don’t let it die ! Good find !
Snowmobile advice, let it warm up before wide open throttle and if it's running for say a hour check to see if your overheating it.
Beginners should put your one knee up on the seat alot to carve powder.
Use good gasoline. Snowboarder boots work OK for Snowmobiling. Wear mittens not gloves (because wind chill) and bring packet disposable hand warmers.
The video had a lot of funny jump cuts GG.
Your snowmobile cleaned up really nice. Your reupholstery came out good too. You're going to have a blast we actually have snow 😂 keep up the great work 👍✌️🇺🇲
Thanks for watching!
THAT YAMAHA SOUND AWESOME! I LOVE multi cylinder 2 stroke engines!!
well it seems like @JunkyardDigs is a bad influence!! LOL exactly the type of bad influence we all need
Dalton , you got a ripper !!! Hell yea. She cleaned up really good !!
Great video, Kenny Powers!! That sled looks awesome. Glad to see JD enjoying his Christmas present also.

Awesome job on the seat recover man!! That thing flat out Rips!!! 😳😮
Yeah it does! It's going to give em all a run for their money
Dude kevin went all out on his ride ! Great video those machines are a blast your gonna have a great time !!
We have been watching you pretty much since you started . You are very personable . I love that your teaching and having j d help you ! He will have great memories of his dad . When my girls were younger theyd come out to garage and help .just keep on keeping it real ! Your videos are great !! I went through the whole union thing i no they want more always from apprentices since you make less till you come out of your time, everyone had a nickname i renamed you The Pole lol keep on keeping on you will get it done !!
Old girl started right up Always wanted to ride a snow Mobile but were I live in arizona don't get snow any longer then it melts 10 feet before the ground cool video @Pole Barn Garage
In 2009, I worked a 3 month outage job in Monticello, Minnesota. I was invited to join some locals on a 9 hour, four county, snowmobile all day ride. They do this in 10 degrees or even colder. Up there that is fun? Anyway, they said it was a blast. I took their word for it. I was getting used to it but people got mad at me for driving too slow 55mph on ice and snow covered roads. They honked at me and cussed me calling me Blankety blank southern driver, (with Ohio tags). LOL I am originally from Tennessee so I am not used to driving on ice, especially in my two wheel drive Suburban.
Great story! Thanks for watching!
Best little sled out there hands down!!!
I bought a Polaris Indy Sport 340 recently! I was skeptical, back in 1985, was riding to school on one,,was hit crossing highway by pickup truck, turns out to be two of my stoned classmates! Smh. So, I'm back at it, and real safe)😁😨😨😨 have fun, be safe dude!!! THANKS FOR SHARING.😎
Thanks for watching!
Great old sled!
Yeah 500 for that puppy! It looks like its in good shape!!
Man that snowmobile totally rips dude!!
One of the few things I haven't ridden /driven is a snowmobile. I definitely need to try it out, especially after watching this.
They are FUN!
@@PoleBarnGarage where In Wisco are you guy's riding
Lol Derek @Vice Grip Garage would be so proud With your italion Tune-Up with the Berryman B12 @Pole Barn Garage
Snowmobiles are a blast, should have tried and rip that thing across that pond on the property, these things double as jet skis up here in Canada
I lost it when he killed that seat and stole its foam 😂😂😂😂
Coming from a canadian you did a fine job sir ✔
Wow that plastic coming around nicely
"How to do things the wrong way with the wrong things, with things you already have, which makes them the right things, done the right way, for the way that things are."
Great job! Old sleds are so cool!
Its kind of hilarious to see the amount of projects you have around your property
Only premium garbage
Many years of snowmobiling when I was back in New England. You did just fine!!
Thank you kindly!
Don’t worry too much about the smoke! Yamaha is well known for leaning quite far on the rich side with their old oil injection systems, I suppose they figured better safe than sorry!
Not only does the oil tank mix the oil with the gas but it’s also injected into the crankshaft and rod bearings. Not sure how the berrymans will do in the oil but none the less pretty cool machine and runs really good. I have multiple machines and love riding. It’s my 4th year now. Have fun dalton
sweet ride! wide open, lots of snow, and keep a bunch of spare plugs! theyll definitely foul up on you on the road lol
those hyfax are destroyed btw :p
Are they really lol
Might get lucky and they'll be ok for the ride, sled doesn't look too used, but they love to crack and go brittle over the years. Snow acts as lubrication and cooling for the whole track system and without that you can probably guess what happens. On the plus side new sets are usually cheap 👌👌
Lmfao at the end Going to take my sled out in this weet sweet powder later Brooo 🤣 @Pole Barn Garage
Love it looks like fun.
Great video. I appreciate your time and video.
i had fun it looks good
Awesome machine great video thank y'all
just the rideing alone with JD is worth the 500 $ nothing better then the RIdeing memories i have with my old man
1984 QR 50 best 300$ give i got in grade primary and i was born in 1997 lol !
Excellent episode !!!
Great job
Nice video and snowmobile ! Have a safe trip to Wisconsin !
Good Job!! Worth every penny. You will have fun up north
