Have a low(ish) mileage 2005 MK1 TT 3.2 DSG here in the States and absolutely love it. The sound (sound in bold and italicized) and linear power delivery coupled with the lack of maintenance concerns regarding boost (chain is currently only -2 and -1 degrees) makes this trim/engine the one to get. Not to mention collectible nature in terms of rarity (especially in America). A rare situation of a palpable future-classic that is still affordable and still feels exceptionally special.

I’m on my second 3.2 and I love them. Well made and super reliable. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Chains are the main problem point but don’t panic even if the EML light is on . I have nightmares of owning other cars.

I have had a Mk I 3.2 Quattro DSG SLine for 17 years. Mine is dolomite gray- with the 7 spoke special wheels, and the S-line badge n the quarter panel just behind the doors. My daily driver all that rime. Still my favorite car of all time. Not the fastest thing on the road, but the funnest and most useful sport’s coupe ever. I have literally brought home lumber in my TT. The most timeless design aesthetic, inside and out. 3.2 VR has the perfect exhaust note, Understated and elegant until you downshift or put it in Sport mode to unleash its full throated potential, and even then its stock exhaust is loud enough to draw attention, but nor so loud or hard as to annoy everyone else on the road. The Quattro handles curvy roads better than any RWD car. And the sLine suspension and steering are perfect. Most people OUGHT to prefer the DSG- In the 2005 and 2006 model cars. It’s faster, and more versatile than any manual. The best thing about it is the DSG, which will not let me run over redline nor lug the engine, Never misses a shift, never burns the clutch or grinds gears… in short the DSG protects itself and the engine from the exuberance and mistakes of the driver. I put 132k miles on my TT without the slightest issue with the engine or transmission. No wonder Porsche and Bugatti wanted a 7 speed version of this gearbox for their very own. In Drive mode, the DSG and 3.2 shifts not 6th gear at 35 mph. And gives better than 30 mpg fuel economy.
If I was shopping for a Mk I TT 3.2 today, I would advise to go for the DSG because chances are the car was not punished as much as manuals tend to be, and less likely anyone tried to mod the car to overpressure the engine.

I've a mk1 TT it's a 190bhp manual 2015 vintage 05 reg . It's nimble 0 to 60 7.5 secs which is not startling but reasonable she is quite economicle with it .I'm happy with that. .it cost very little 6 yrs ago. And Probly still worth peanuts today . But who cares I've lost thousands over the years now I'm beating the depreciation bug.it looks good and runs great so I'm happy with it and recommend one

I've owned 2 MK5 R32s and I have to agree everything that makes the R32 is in the TT in a far better package at a cheaper price. I really think these cars are so underrated and becoming quite expensive in Australia. They really are an iconic shape and dare I say the MK1 TT is essentially Audi's 993 in terms of iconic shape lasting the test of time

I tried an mk1 225, loads of fun, and I am an Audi fanboy since 2010. But I could not quite warm up to the car ever, for 3 reasons.
    1. the rear bench is useless for passengers, they should have made a mid engined TT instead. Make it a true baby R8.
    2. the 3.2 isn't much better than the 225, even if it's better indeed. That said a remap would sort that out, but then the 1.8 is still lighter, and engine weight is a factor around the notorious Audi understeer.
    3. It's a Haldex, not a true Quattro.
That said I don't want to knock it down, it was a striking design from day 1, and it's just fun to drive. Good video, nice of the owner to make a point about keeping it stock, that's the way to make the car increase in value.
