I know this sounds weird as fuck, but it's a condition called synesthesia, and people with it have senses with mix up in their brain and can "see sounds", "hear smells" etc and associate specific things (like certain numbers or letters) to colours and see them in certain colours, so everything is Color-coded for them.

The bass intro sounds almost like the intro of Bring it all back to you by S Club 7. I saw Marcus last Friday at North Sea Jazz, but I didn't have the nerve to ask him if he knew that song. Anyway, the concert was brilliant and Marcus was as friendly as always. On the back of his new tour t-shirt he could have added the word friend as noun!
First song he played live at the HOB Houston gig. Almost of this band was with him. Different drummer plus a percussionist who coincided with him during his years with Miles, if I understood correctly (OK, yup... it's Mino Cinelu... who had quite a triangle solo at one point). Marcus actually sang the vocals.
