A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice.
Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on CZcams. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz.
Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.
Why Angelina always performs barefoot At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate.
At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on CZcams went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a CZcams video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed Frank Sinatra “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on CZcams. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On CZcams, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles. On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions. On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go". On July 23th she released her orginal EP “Old Enough”.
Angelina perform Concert at the Music Hall in Portsmouth New Hampshire on Sept 22nd, 2023. It Was a great concert, who was not and could regret it, a big mistake. On 10/27/23 she released her new orginal singiel “Our Time”. In November 2023, she was presented as a debutante at Le Bal des débutantes in Paris. On 12/08/23 she released new Marry Christmas EP “Driving Home for Christmas”. On 12/10/23 she sing in Oslo at the Nobel Peace Prize Celebration - Unchained Melody tribute to 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi. On february 29, 2024 she had two concerts in Las Vegas, Nevada,on the Elvis stage.

Actually it’s a Cover of a Cover as the original artist Mark James who wrote and recorded Suspicious Minds didn’t achieve with his original, then Presley Covered the song and it was a hit,the first two little girls in the video are Angelina’s cousins her manager children, the eldest girl is Angelina’s sister Juliette, production input from Angelina’s grandmother Mery Zamani who is a talented artist and poet, Mery is Angelina’s greatest influence as she introduced Angelina to jazz and the old classic songs when Angelina was 1 1/2 years old, the pianist is two times Grammy award winner Rob Christie the musical director of republic records, Rob is featured in many of Angelina’s videos,Republic records Angelina signed with at 14 years old, Republic records also gave Angelina her own music studio which shows how much they appreciate her phenomenal talent and songwriting, great reaction thanks 🙏

You raise an important point that needs to be recognised and that is Angelina’s almost genius like ability to truly understand the meaning of the words in every song..many say she usually more accurately nails the meaning of a song than the original artist..and here she, imo, out thought or out felt the King himself.,not bad for a 16 year old! ..her anguish and melancholy were tangible.

This is nothing like the original. Same lyrics, but that's about it;) This is so much better in my opinion, but there might be blowback by Elvis lovers simply because he is the legendary Elvis. Curious as to your opinion since you aren't too familiar with him and put him above all others simply for his name.

Nice reaction. However I would strongly encourage you to listen to original song in advance of a reaction where you don't know the song. Or door reaction first of the original and then of the artist that you're featuring. I think you alluded to this in your comments. It gives you much more background from which you can comment and makes even a more interesting reaction.
On another note, thank you, and I enjoyed your genuine comments.
Please continue to generously spread the love and kindness that Angelina exemplifies by providing her equal priority support on your channel. Since most viewers do not go to your description on their own, I suggest providing links, not only to the artist's original video, but also their official channels. In addition, please verbally educate your viewers to use those links to like, share, and comment for the artist, and to do the same for you! Your encouragement will lead viewers to the artist's links as well as your valuable information. It is also helpful to link to the artists' social media, and to also suggest that viewers purchase the artist's music from services such as Spotify and iTunes.
Each artist provides us so much joy, and reactors have a platform which can help boost CZcams analytics and exposure for you and all featured artists. Thank you for doing your part to enable Angelina to attain her inspirational goal of spreading love and peace throughout the world. Peace and love.

Rob Christie is Playing Piano, and he is AJ's A&R person with Republic Records/Universal Music Group.
    AJ’s Dream Team
Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, two years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records
Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) Angelina stated that she would rather perform than take a breath, and she has never been forced to perform, it has been her decision.
AJ now lives in West Hollywood in Los Angeles, where the record company Republic Records has built a separate music studio for her. She states; "I feel incredibly lucky to have been signed by one of the biggest record companies in the world. I have my own studio where I make my own music. There will also be a lot of concerts in the future because I have released an EP. I will soon go on a world tour and play my songs, (This was stated to TV2 in Norway on Aug. 21, 2023) ©

Power & Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. 🔥🔥🔥♥👣

@@oldvsyoungreactions We don't know how it was possible for Angelina to evoke so much emotion, even when she was 7 years old. I like to believe, she has lived previous lives and has a connection to musical heaven.
I now think it is a silly argument that children can't evoke emotion since they haven't lived through life experiences. Angelina is proof.

Nice reaction guys! Actually, I would definitely encourage the both of you in listening to the version Elvis did. As a fan of Elvis and now Angelina, when you finally hear how he did the song, it makes you appreciate her take of this very famous song. The first time I heard Angelina's version, it blew my socks off and made me appreciate more of how she arranges her renditions of covers and her original music she has released. She was 16 in this video. Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery in L.A.) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids, Aires and Athena. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. What a performance and homage to The King!

Elvis's version of Suspicious Minds was a song, but Angelina Jordan's version is a tale told by the greatest storytelling signature vocalist of the time.
Some songs are just covers, but others are reawakening's. Angelina Jordan's version of Suspicious Minds is more than a tribute to Elvis Presley, it is a narrative that captivates and immerses the audience in a world of doubt and betrayal. She uses her voice as a tool to craft a spell that makes the listener feel every emotion and nuance of the lyrics. Her rendition is not just a song, it is a story that becomes real to the listener.
"Suspicious Minds" is a 1968 song written and first recorded by the American songwriter Mark James. After this recording failed commercially, it was recorded by Elvis Presley with the producer Chips Moman. Presley's version reached No.1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and it was his last hit record to reach No.1.
(Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, had a long and successful career that spanned from the 1950s to the 1970s. He recorded hundreds of songs and sold millions of records worldwide. His last two hits of his career were "Way Down" and "Moody Blue", both released in 1977, the year of his death. "Way Down" was a rockabilly song that reached number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the country charts. "Moody Blue" was a ballad that peaked at number 31 on the Hot 100 and number two on the country charts. Both songs showcased Elvis' distinctive voice and style, and were well received by his fans and critics.)
Consider this; there are lots of performers that impersonate Elvis, and some can sound just like him. Have you ever experienced someone that sounds like Angelina Jordan, let me be the first to answer that question, the answer in no. That is because AJ is one of a kind, and on a level that supersedes all others. If you question what I have just stated just listen to the professional voice teachers after experiencing AJ. They all admit that they are speechless because they have never heard anyone like AJ.
The children are AJ two little cousins, they are the daughters of her uncle Mike, he is her manager, and the oldest girl is her younger sister, Juliette.
This is my 128th time experiencing this video, and each and every time it gets better. We must give credit to the support team behind this phenom. There is no one on earth that can match the talent of this STORYTELLER. AJ deconstructs a song then reconstructs it to make each individual hearing it feel it was written for them, a love letter to their comfort zone.

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. ©

Angelina has done numerous covers of Elvis! In addition, she knows and has met Pricilla after the movie Elvis was released! She also did A very moving tribute to Lisa Marie when she passed away last year! This is actually a Mark James song that Elvis covered! Now onto the song.
Angelina (16) nailed this one from the start. The antique shop just pulled you into the classic/vintage Elvis song and gave it a feel of Graceland. Shaking the dust off of vintage music, black leather jump suit, red guitar-believe it is actually Rob Christie’s-and Priscilla Presley’s Beehive hair style, all relates back to the 1968 comeback special. Her two cousins and her sister Juliette show how important family is and her growth. The symbolism throughout the song was awesome. Love how Angelina cradled the guitar with her hip! Rob Christie is a Grammy winning producer and the director of studio operations at Republic Records, in Los Angeles, Angelina’s record label. He has accompanied her on piano since her signing with Republic Records. She has been a professional for many years.

The Hagstrom Red Guitar used in this video is a modern up to date copy of the one Elvis used in 1968, and belongs to Rob Christie, AJ’s A&R rep from Republic Records/Universal Music Group.
The Hagstrom Red Guitar belonged to musician Al Casey, a member of Elvis’ backing band during the special in 1968. According to an accompanying letter from Casey, he was asked to let Elvis use the guitar by the producers, as they "thought it would look beautiful on camera and with the set."
Elvis Presley’s 1942 Martin D-18 acoustic guitar may have recently sold for $1.32 million, but fear not - another of the King’s axes, this one his cherry-red Hagstrom Viking II electric guitar, famous for its use in the legendary '68 Comeback Special, is hitting the block.
The semi hollow instrument is a highlight of Kruse GWS Auctions’ Artifacts of Hollywood & Music auction, which begins on March 27. It's being offered with a starting bid of $250,000.
By Matt Owen published March 31, 2021 Now, it has been confirmed that the legendary semi-hollow has been sold for a whopping $625,000, with the proud new owner of the lot managing to outbid six other plucky bidders to get their hands on the prized piece of music memorabilia.
The ‘68 Comeback Special marked Elvis' return to live performance after seven years spent focused on acting in Hollywood films. The televised concert, which launched Presley's return to live touring, featured him playing the Hagstrom for the opening segment as well as during one of the live "stand-up" segments. Suspicious Minds was the last hit Evils had in his career.

Thank you for returning to Angelina. Your reactions to her performances are always worth watching.
The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked, "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them. To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song.
The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aries (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family.
Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

The baby and very little girl are Angelina's cousins - the preteen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette and the Piano Player is Rob Christie Director of the Republic Records Los Angeles Studio which is the record label that Angelina has been signed with since she was 14 years old.

It's her style from her early beginning to perform covers in a lower simple looking tempo to give her the space for her brilliant interesting tones which resonates to our heart strings 💓
And the lyrics are always looking in a new interesting perspective from a great storyteller 🎉

You guys definitely need to see the Elvis version. It's so different, yet also great. Both artists put their own stamp on the song. While it's true that Angelina's method is usually to choose the overall arrangement, this was a collaboration with two-time Grammy winner Rob Christie, the Studio Director of her label Republic Records. He's the guy playing the piano. Amazing reaction, gents!

FYI, Elvis’s version is not the original. Some people don't realize that Elvis was not a songwriter. He was a great song interpreter.
Elvis’ version is a much faster tempo. Angelina slowed it down a lot.
Surprised you guys have never heard the Elvis version as it is one of his most successful and well known songs.
The original is by Mike James who was also the songwriter.
This performance is from 2 years ago when Angelina 16.
