You would seriously be doing the world a kindness if you made some more tutorials that focus on best practices. Impressive work as always, modelling AND editing 😁 What are your, as a long-time user, thoughts on Blender 2.8? I've downloaded it and started playing around. It will be a while before I can achieve what i want, but I'm enjoying learning!

    • @PVG3DPrints
      @PVG3DPrints  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks Martin! Long time users of Blender know it's not wise to switch to beta versions of Blender for any serious work, the risk of losing work is too high. I know they're still squashing bugs and sorting out things like keyboard shortcuts etc. which is too disruptive for me right now. But I do have 2.8 installed, I am testing it and it's looking really good! There will be a learning curve for me, not so much because of new features but more because they've really moved stuff around (and changed my favourite keyboard shortcuts) also taking away my layers and replacing them with collections will take some getting used to, but I can see the benefits. Once 2.8 is out of beta and officially released I will switch over. But if you're new to Blender I'd hop onto 2.8 now, may as well start with the new interface. Just be mindful not to expect it to perform like finished software.

    Wow, once again. I saw this totally different. I looked at the helmet as having the inner blue section with some sort of hearing protection and the white as merely a track with the strengthening pieces for the chin of the visor were at. I thought you would have to model the inner helmet first and then the outer visor and mechanism last. I was surprised as you worked on the visor slide first. I am at the 39 minute mark wondering if this is just a static model.

    • @PVG3DPrints
      @PVG3DPrints  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks Joseph! Your comment serves as a reminder that we are all going to see and tackle things a little differently, all equally valid. Being an in game model design I saw it as a fixed static helmet but I see what you're saying.

    I've always wondered how these things were designed. Is there some tutorials for blender that would explain what you are doing? the Silent part is impossible to follow. I feel like each step could have its own video. Like around 1:11 you're adjusting the inset rectangle, right before that you added a second thin row along the curve.

    • @PVG3DPrints
      @PVG3DPrints  Před 4 lety +1

    • @elelly1845
      @elelly1845 Před 4 lety

      @@PVG3DPrints Yes, thank You for the answer. I’ve already found the solution.
      But the problem was that when I was adding this so-called “image as plane”, it was not added to the YX - coordinate plane.
      And it was added to another one, so I had to manually rotate it to make everything look as in Your tutorial.
      But I have thought it was wrong due to the fact that everything is not going exactly like in the tutorial.
      But after I restarted the project a couple of times, the "image as plane" began to be added already to YX - coordinate plane by default just like You had.
      It looks like the program simply remembers the last coordinate plane selected in previous session and adds a “plane as image” to it.

I am getting into 3D designing right now, and I am mostly into residential architecture and mechanical design (I know inventor and fusion 3d would be the best for designing mechanical things, but how does blender compare to these programs?). I see you can select very small units in blender down to a micrometer, the question is can you export or convert that file into G code which is I believe used in CNC Machining Industry? Maybe make a tutorial about it if it's possible for others to know about it as well.
