Roman Reigns suffering succotash promo. That defined him for like years until he became the tribal chief
Yeah, but that's not really the spirit of the list. Every Roman promo back then was crap. This list is more people who were good talkers at the time of the crap promo.

This entire list could have easily been filled with a good chunk of John Cena's promo work between 2010 and 2013. The Star Wars one still lives rent free in my mind.
I’ve been a huge Cena fan for long time. And I’ve been trying to scrub the bologna, fudge and mustard/ Warcraft bit from my brain since he said it.

2010 John Cena was a bit cringe, i think after his feud with Punk he got better on the mic but 2010 was.....something

I find it incredible how Jericho got heat for pointing out how god awful Undertaker's promo was but nobody cared that Undertaker was rambling incoherently for about six hours
Taker's promos operate on "the shorter, the better" principle. Make it over a minute long and the effect drastic goes down.
Taker used the extra dead snakes to make pants.
From what I remember of that Heyman promo, he was supposed to get heat for Lesnar since he was the heel on his upcoming match with Goldberg. The problem was they were in Lesnar's hometown and everyone was cheering the moment they went out. Heyman was trying as hard as he could to get heat but everyone kept cheering, so he just gave thar awkward promo
Can't blame Heyman. It's hard to cut a promo when the guy you're cutting a promo for is nothing but trash. As for the fans cheering, they obviously come from one of the states that legalized cannabis.🤣🤣🤣
The Pre Royal Rumble promo by Cena was so painfully cringe, I love it
Jake Roberts' *Heroes of Wrestling* moment is even sadder when you know that apparently, he'd actually been sober for a little while and was very enthusiastic about the event, even helping set up the ring and everything the day before. Then, he got some seriously bad news on the phone that caused him to hit the bottle again, and we saw the state that left him in during the show.
I don’t think Piper’s promo should be on here. He tore Russo to shreds and it was super satisfying to hear.
Piper shouldn't be on the list as he did exactly what he wanted to do, and he did it.
Honestly I lost a lot of respect for Roddy Piper. After I watch that promo. And I gained a lot of respect for Russo after that too.
That promo was off the fn hook and Russo responded. It was great

If Jake were sober that night, we’d hold the heroes of wrestling promo in higher regard. The card game allegory is really well-done when pulled out from the surroundings.
He did cut a similar promo on the pre-show, and it was actually fine. Then his wife called and he got hammered.

I was in the audience when Heyman cut that promo, it wasn’t so much any material he was given, it was 1000% the fact that he was cutting a promo, while being a heel, in Brock lesnars home town. Didn’t work at all as you could imagine
Brock lesnar sucks and the fans that were cheering were obviously high on some illegal crap like crack or meth.

You mentioned Paul Heyman's promo, but failed to address an important detail surrounding it. I still remember that Raw was in Minneapolis, Minnesota: Brock Lesnar's hometown. Brock was going into the feud with Goldberg as a heel BUT that crowd just wasn't having it. They kept chanting for Lesnar and booed Goldberg whenever Heyman mentioned him. He was trying to get heel heat for Brock, which was NEVER gonna happen there. This caused Heyman to stumble and stutter, and I felt that he was visibly shaken and probably even furious with the creative team. I don't think he wanted to do that promo. Seriously, what were they thinking trying to get someone booed in their own hometown? I can't really blame Heyman for that promo tbh.
The fans were obviously high on something. why else would that state vote for a wrestler to be governor?
Idk, the Piper promo was his final masterpiece in delivering the message that everyone already knew "Roddy doesn't give a fuck"
Undertaker's best promos were as The American Bad Ass. He wasn't tied down to a gimmick. That was Mark being Mark.
I might get flak for this but when rock returned to do with a fued with cena rock's promos felt overscripted and was horrendous on the mic. It was like a 6 year old wrote all of his promos.
Still not as bad as his more recent ones. How many times did he try that "Seth Rollins is a clown emoji" crap in the worst "hello, fellow kids!" way? And the cursing! I don't usually mind cursing, but that was some BS. The Rock became a star because he came from an era where the guys were given free reign with their promos and they could use their natural charisma and wit to win over the crowd. And in the modern era, promos are written word for word by the writers and the guys have to make do with what's given to them. You know how well Dwayne got over when he was given pre-written crap? The crowd said, and I quote, "Die Rocky Die".
But I digress. Everyone else has the nanny-writers putting bad promos in their mouths, and even if they manage to get over anyway... well, just look at Zack Ryder. You're not allowed to get over unless management wants you to get over. And here comes Dwayne, given and abusing such freedom he can piss away the PG era rules and start cursing.
I really hope he stays gone.

I was at the Raw in Milwaukee for that Undertaker promo. Thankfully Jericho interrupted it and I forgot how terrible it was until years later when I went back and rewatched that episode.

I like Roman and he definitely improved after turning heel but he’s hardly what I’d call a legendary promo
You forget the mention that Haymen's promo in the Twin Cities was doomed to fail to begin with as he was to get Brock over as a heel yet the fans there treated him like a face. I feel like promos like that don't deserve to be on this list.

The Paul Herman promo was down deliberately badly to get over the fact that Goldberg was a threat to lesnar

I recently stumbled across a promo where Dusty Rhodes talked about having a demon in his boot and then telling Ric Flair that HE in fact actually had that demon instead in the same sentence.
Taker’s “Snake Ties and Lizard Boots” promo on RAW was one of the best worst promo ever.
The interesting thing about hayman is that even with his inability to pay his wrestlers back then, I've never heard anyone say anything bad about him.
They liked the guy, he just couldnt afford to pay them.
Nah, most guys hated him for a while. Tommy Dreamer wanted to literally commit a murder-suicide at Wrestlemania 17. A lot of guys were critical of him over how he treated Chris Candido and Tammy Sytch. Most of the ECW guys only learned about ECW closing when Paul showed up on RAW in 2001. It's just the fact that a.) the ones who wanted steady work had to deal with him in WWE. b.) Time heals all wounds. It's been over 20 years since ECW closed. A lot of the "Aw, that's Paul-being-Paul" stories were filled with a lot more anger in the immediate post ECW closure.

You can point at a few different moments as being where things first went wrong in Cody's run in AEW. Him heroically prevailing over Lance Archer when nobody wanted him to. Him heroically prevailing over Brodie Lee when nobody wanted him to. Him heroically prevailing over... etc., etc. Or that time he feuded with Shaq, who for some reason was implied to have magical powers.
But man, that Anthony Ogogo promo may well have been the point of no return. That could have been a career killer for a lesser wrestler.

Dean was a fine promo guy in WWE but idk if I'd go as far to say great. Jon Moxley the character is definitely better on the promo than Dean for sure. Yeah great is stretching it for me. Sorry Dean I love ya man and I miss you in the WWE but yeah I'm sorry can't say great talker

It was Lesnar's idea to get squashed at Survivor Series to build to their Mania match. And it worked extremely well. He's an ass, but he's got a good head for business.

The unfaumous TNA's Hot Rod promo, was not bad, but feels very unconfortable. The aura is too dark.

In all fairness you could see what Hogan was trying to point out in the "g*y, guy" promo, he's basically pointing out that no one else could've played the HH character, carry the company, and had the run that he did.

Rock’s promo wasn’t that bad, he he got the crowd hyped up. I remember the Cena one being a little awkward. Most normal promos on an episode of raw are worse than these

Unpopular opinion: Paul Heyman’s ECW One Night Stand 05 promo is the most cringe promo of all time
Vince Russo said himself that the stunt company called him and asked if there was any wrestlers who they could use for a stunt. According to Russo, he looked down the list and saw Owen Hart's name. And decided to use Owen for the stunt. So Russo, along with McMahon, WWE and the stunt company were in part to blame for Owen's death. It could've all been avoided. And it's sad how the stunt company used a rigger used for rigging sailboats to hook Owen on. And they lied to Russo about working with Sting in WCW. So where's the lie that Roddy Piper told?

Miz wasn't a great talker at the time. I think the list is for bad promos by people who were established as good talkers at the time.

@@NeatoBurrito05 He hasn't exactly been bad either. What made him decent was whenever he spoke, it was mostly true to that version of the character. If we're looking at where they were at that point, Taker had some pretty good promos in 1998.

I would've put Cody's higher on the list. It was the most tone-deaf, contradictory dribbling pile of arse gravy going. Would have loved to know Cody's thought process on it.

I think Rock’s promos in general are overrated. He’s great at doing shtick and working the crowd but he never has anything meaningful to say.
I don't consider Charlotte a great talker, she's serviceable on the mic. But her promo on the Raw after WM 37 was so awful. Way worse than her usual stuff.

Okay, it needs to be said that Jake the Snake Roberts’s promo from Heroes of Wrestling has some strokes of genius in there.
“Wanna play 21? I got 22.” = Roberts has a .22 caliber pistol. He is so ruthless that he’ll kill you to win by default.
“You wanna play blackjack? I got two of those, too.” = A blackjack is a type of club. He’s gonna club you over the head.
“You wanna play aces and eights? Well, I got some of those, too.” = Aces and Eights is also known as the Dead Man’s Hand. It is called this because Old West folk hero Wild Bill Hickock held this hand as he was murdered playing poker.
