When I saw Drew in 2018 during a house show.
I yelled “DREW GALLOWAY!” On the top of my lungs.
He looked into the crowd and smiled.
I’ll never forget that.
Dick Blood being the inverse of John Good just feels right.
If Jericho hat gone with "Bubble", would his finisher be called "A Bit of The Bubbly"?
Hat?
Bubble Buster
Once met Drew McIntyre's Papa when delivering furniture to his house. Got a good 30 minute convo with the man and I've never seen a man so proud of his grandson. Photos of Drew in a Glasgow Rangers tops everywhere.
"Wrestling and Rangers, they've always been his loves"
Wait. You said his father, and yet, you mention grandson.
@user-dh4um4qi7h I'm sure it's the same in other countries too but Papa means Grandfather in Scotland. Hope that clears that up 👍🏻
fun fact: Jericho recounted a tale on WWE Story time (when are getting MORE WWE?) where he wrestled on a late night Lucha show in mexico where an audience poll decided his name should be Leon De Oro (The Golden Lion)....the other options were Chris Power and He-Man
“Andrew McLean Galloway IV” sounds like the leader of the snobby kids from an early ‘90s summer camp movie.
Or one of Hunter Hearst Helsmley's social peers.
@@roguebanshee That would be the name of the evil real estate developer who wants to bulldoze the nerdy kids’ camp, and the nerdy kids have to win a kayak race or something to save it.
@@MrBeardsleywith the daughter of said evil real estate developer helping the nerds because she hates her dad.😂
The CM in "CM Punk" isn't an acronym, it's an initialism. An acronym isn't just any old set of initials, it's a set of initials that's pronounced as a word, like NASA or UNICEF. If you did that with CM Punk's name he'd be called... you know what, never mind.
Pamela Anderson would like a word with you about your definition of her name 🤦🏻♂️🤣
As would Pamela Paulshock
She’s walking slow
Ok that CM punk joke was comedy gold! Nice one adam well played
I mean Moxleys real name is Johnny D Good, could’ve had a Chuck Berry or Marty Mcfly gimmick given WWEs creative history
I mean Marc Mero already had a similar gimmick with Johnny B Badd (Ironically he was more of a Little Ritchie lookalike).
i could see John(ny) Good also as a psycho heel kinda gimmick tbh. with the Good being ironic
Nope. Moxy is a word that means "courageous spirit and determination; perseverance". Hence, Moxy became Moxley. (The more you know) Today's lesson has been brought to you by the letters A,E &W.
@@bekindtoanimals2189 I like Moxley too but I think Johnny Good sounds like a great name for irony. Plus, his stable names could be clever like the Good Boys or the Good Crew or the Good Brothers... oh wait
Where did Steve Borden get Sting? Iconic name which is a mystery to me.
Maybe from a scorpion Sting
The bass player for the police…
@@seanpatrick5060 Sting the Wrestler owns the trademark so Sting the musician pays Steve Borden royalties
It was from his old Blade Runners team with the future Ultimate Warrior. 3rd or 4th attempt.
@@Scaramanga7That doesn't explain how it came about, only that that was his name.
Funny story about Drew.
“McIntyre” was my great grandma’s maiden name, and so when Drew started wrestling she always joked he was our distant cousin since her side of the family was originally from Ayr, Scotland.
Plot twist Grandma might be onto something and he really is a distant relative
Now now I see Christian Cage I could see the Christian Slater character and Nicolas Cage in his wrestling promos and it's fantastic
4:00 Adam forgets Pamela Anderson exists
That intro made me expect to hear how Jushin Liger (not Thunder just yet) got his name to...promote a then-current anime from the legendary Go Nagai.
Fun fact: Go Nagai made more money from royalties from this wrestler than in FIFTY YEARS of drawing manga!
A note about the Awesome Kong one. Aja Kong had left Arsion the year before and Zenjo was "teasing" her return by advertising upcoming matches with an A. Kong on the card. Of course, it turned out to be Amazing Kong and Aja never came back to Zenjo before they closed. Also, they considered Awesome Kong as her name before deciding that it was easier for Japanese people to say Amazing.
I’ve always wondered how John Cena was able to use his real name even though he didn’t come from a Wrestling Family or had a decorated combat sports background
Based on the interview he gave on Howard Stern many years back where he confirmed that (at least at that time) WWE gets a cut of his earnings in non-WWE projects while using his real name... that's probably how
That said, I do like the mental image of him just telling Vince that "John Cena" was the ring name he was considering and Vince liked it
Also Cena allowed WWE to own his name too
He did come from a wrestling family, his father was a promoter. Not huge scale by any means, but he promoted plenty of wrestling.
@@Zomburai45 If you would have told me that John Cena was a ring name, I'd believe it. There's something about Cena as a last name that feels very wrestling and made up, despite being real. Same with a few other wrestler names, like Mick Foley and, while they changed the spelling, Rick Rood/Rude.
@@TheRealAhoy The interesting thing about that is John Cena is actually the first ever reverse second generation star. His dad became a promoter after John made it to the WWE.
I always thought it was interesting how Ryback got his ring name: a combination of his real name (Ryan Reeves) and his old gimmick the Silverback.
The Jericho fact is awesome! As soon as you said Helloween I shouted NO SHIT 😂
The very first wrestling show I did involved a tournament that the promoter wanted on the poster with all the wrestlers in it, however only a few of us had ring names already. When he phoned up one of the guys he'd just finished a 12 hour shift and just wanted to go to bed. When asked what he would be called the only thing that immediately came to mind was the film Lethal Weapon which he'd recently watched, however the only name he could properly remember was that of the female lead Rene Russo. So Rene Russo he became.
I'd have chosen "Lethal Riggs"
@@dominoepthat would certainly have been cooler. What made it worse was that he decided to wrestle in Pink Bermuda Shorts too , oh and Wolf from the British version of Gladiators was guest ring announcer and mocked him so much.
To be fair, René is a name of French origin that can be given to males or females. René is the masculine spelling, while Renée is the feminine spelling. A male pro wrestler that comes to mind is former WWE star René Dupree. So I don't see how the mocking from the ring announcer was warranted.
Sounds as good as naming yourself after a famous serial killer (stone cold)
I’ve never understood the origin of Adam “Parmesan” Pacitti. Am I being dumb? Is Adam a former spokesperson for cheese?
he was trained in the art of disguise by Gene Parmesan
@@craggylotus AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA GEEEEEEEEEEEENE!
I guess he was called Adam Pacheesy by his mates, and Parmesan is a type of cheese, and stuck because it's alliterative.
In the Dree Mcintyre clip, Wade Barett was smirking away with his God like Hair genetics
😂❤
Drew has a nice main too
Ricky Steamboat's actual name is too badass. Man if he was a heel it would've worked also he could've been with the Brood
"Just pop the kettle on and all your troubles will be gone" is one of the most English things anyone could ever say haha
Glad to hear Awesome Kong receiving her kudos, she's my favorite female wrestler of all time cause she was the first women i ever saw not as she was "good for a woman" but she was great, period
Names 🙌
C. Montgomery Punk... Excellent.
I popped the kettle on and I would now like to be known as "Creamed Coffee" Mike Taylor.
Funny that Christian Cage named himself after Nic Cage considering Nic Cage is an assumed name as well. Nic Coppola started using Cage, named for Luke Cage aka Marvel's Power Man.
If you know your mythology then Finn Balor makes perfect sense
I remember he explained it once in 2016 when he debuted the demon on the main roster.
Let us not forget that Austin's ex wife Jeanie was known as Lady Blosson in WCW when she was a manager and then his own manager.
Stone Cold comes from a famous US serial killer
There was a short time in Chicagoland where the LWF was kind of a big deal even after punk. But like most Indy’s it died of infighting and money issues.
Kia also famously appeared on the one of the first seasons of mtvs tough enough til jim ross told her that she wouldn't fit in wwe as they wanted more eyecandy types .
Wwe is known for trademarkumg names for merch n future royalty checks(torrie wilson, stacy kiebler, n many others used their real name) which made it hard when the wrestler was released(warraior n chyna) to perform under they former ring name so they changed their legal names to get around the trademark issue
U forget there was a pamela in wrestling, pamela paulshock in wcw.
Chyna was the first woman to be a mens title holder(followed by Jacqueline n several others)
The content you guys continually put out is incredible
CM should stand for Compromised Muscles with the 32 and a half injuries he's gotten over the last 4 matches
My favorite thing about the Steamboat section is that there’s a lot of Japanese Americans in Hawaii so it wouldn’t be impossible for Sammy and Ricky to be related
Jon Moxley has been Jon Moxley since the beginning of his career. I was there when he won his first ever championship as a tag team in HWA in 2005 and he was Jon Moxley then.
This topic would be great for a trivia game video.
Nicolas Slater sounds like the long lost brother of Heath.
To be fair Pam rhymes with Slam so that could have legs
6:05 Did you really try to bury Christian with that introduction? 😂
Sorry but I always thought the "Stone Cold" monniker came from him watching serial killer Richard Leonard "Ice Man" Kuklinski
I always thought CM Punk ment Chicago Made Punk 🤯
Mox and Steamboat should just switch last names.
In an alternate universe, Brass Monkey Steve Austin is raising hell
Micheal PS Hayes using google is hilarious to me
I think I heard Dutch Mantell say he came up with the Austin in Steve Austin, on the spot right before a match. Good call Dutch 👍
Dutch was probably a fan of the Six Million Dollar Man tv show.
I recall hearing that Austin was going to use the name Steve Williams, which was his legal name at the time, but that name was already taken by Dr. Death Steve Williams so he had to change it. It’s possible Mantell gave him the Austin name, but I’m pretty sure I heard it originally came from the Six Million Dollar Man show.
@@user-uo6cq1cp3u I thought the same thing, but I rewatched the Dutch interview, and he claims he came up with Austin because that's the town Steve's from. Personally, I like the six million dollar man story better 👍
Yes, the name "Steve Austin" does come from "The Six Million Dollar Man" TV movies and series, which could have subconsciously influenced Dutch to give Steve the last name "Austin" since the two parts of the name had worked and was recognizable, in the past. But "Williams" was definitely definitely dropped because of "Dr. Death".
Also, "Steve Austin" does actually work out best for Mr. Steve Williams ("Stone Cold") considering the fact that he managed to work through injuries and surgeries as his career and popularity grew, making "The Bionic Redneck" nickname as, if not more, popular than the original "Bionic Man".
It is funny how things are never deeper than necessity in the moment, become so much more important and serendipitous over time.
Yeah, I know it really isn't that deep, but still funny how it feels that way 😂
I think Jack Action is also a slang term for something else as well.
Zack Ryder came from Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell and Ryder trucks
Thanks Brish lady
Steamboat real name is Rich Blood, thats hard.
Hey, hey, hey! If you’re gonna refer to Christian Cage as any of his monikers then you have to include “That Gay With The Blue Dot Over His Face”! Get it right Cultaholic!
Pamela Anderson isn't who they describe in this video. 😂
Bobby Fish is my favorite wrestling real name 😂
Can I ask you a question?
How much fish could Bobby Fish fry if Bobby Fish could fry fish?
Stone Cold comes from a famous us serial killer
Imagine Awesome Kong vs Rosemary vs Nightmare vs Rhea Ripley vs Nia Jax vs Bianca Belair inside Elimination Chamber.
At 6:03, that person's name was Val Venis.🎉
The Walls of Jericho is simply a Boston Crab, as is The Sharpshooter!
In my head cannon Jericho got "a little bit of the bubbly" from Helloween and I'll fight anyone who disagrees!!
Parcheesi is nuts, if Pamela Anderson left Baywatch and became a wrestler, she wouldn't be whatever the hell he described.
Remember though, that “creative” would have had us rooting for Stone Cold Chilly McFreeze
I cant believe in never put the two and two together with bayley. Being from the same city as bayley. I love that she represents the bay in her name
Idk, just something about the name “Dick Blood” just doesn’t strike fear into my core 🤣
ngl, i wouldn't be mad about it if jericho went with "chris bubbles".
"Nicholas Slater" sounds like Heath Slater's posh cousin.
So if it wasnt for Fink we wouldve had just plain Ricky Steamboat
That’s Bad Ass Monty “Kip” Sopp to you, Pacitti.
Kenny Omega was based on a surfer gimmick in his early days.
The Samoan Werewolf is an audio announcement on WWE 2K24
If they used the name Pam or Pamela in more creative way I don't see anything wrong with that name. You give her a cool last name.
This is cool.
Actually Bayley is from San Jose California, which is apart of the Bay Area
Adam Patch E T is more over than AJ Hazard ever was. You have to imagine it's at least partly due to the name.
Christian: I am just admiring your cage
Drew McIntyre's real name might be cool if he used if he ever started using a corporate gimmick. Or as a character like JBL.
Better than my wrestling The Telephone ☎️ or Young Pad
And Wade Barrett credits Cody Rhodes with giving him his wrestling name.😊
Pamela is not the name of a wrestler... it's the name of a blonde bombshell that owned the 80s and 90s: Pamela Anderson....
It's also the name of a former wcw talent Pamela Paulshock
"And 'not Edge'"
🤣
The walls of Jericho was in the Bible long before some German band used it on an album.
Jews: Break the walls
Helloween is more relevant than a book of fairy tales though.
@@StageRight123So original.
Better then my wrestling names The Telephone ☎️ or Young Pad
Billy Gunn is a good name.
Monty Sopp is a great name.
Love Varsity Blues
Yeah, Punk gave that answer in open court
I think if WWE insisted on shorting Christian Cage they should have went with Cage instead. Edge and Cage sounds way cooler than Edge and Christian
4:05 - "Pamela is the name of an old lady" ... Wait, what? Literally the only famous "Pamela" I can think of is Pamela Anderson, one of the biggest sex symbols of the 90s lol.
The idea that someone thin thought Kong may be a bad choice because she is black is someone overthinking the name WAAAAAAY TOO much. 😂
Pamela is the name of a 64 Yr old lady that calls u piggy for being big and tells u its all in ur head when u say ur depressed SHE is my mother
Hulk Hogan could have been Dutch Pamela Powerhouse would have been a good name.Mr.Good could changed his last name to bad.
And Randy Orton is his real name
Punk's first name truly means Chick Magnet since the man has dated many women over the years one of them being Lita
And Maria Khanelis and Finally AJ Lee
interesting.
He told Micheal Cole CM was for Cole Miner Punk
I hated the Ringmaster gimmick in WWF for Stone Cold. It was just ridiculous.
There are a lot of Japanese people in Hawaii. In fact most people who live in Hawaii are Japanese descent
So Christian choose the name Cage after a guy, who choose this name, cause he wanted to make it on it´s own and not as the cousin of director Francis Ford Coppola, which is also his real name. Nice.. lol.
Yep
yep, Pamela is a name that would only ever suit an old lady. No-one young with that name would ever get over with males aged 18-30. No one. Ever. Definitely no-one I can think of called Pamela that was ever a a pop culture icon or sex symbol.
I love your sarcasm LOL. Ironically you’re thinking of Pamela Anderson and I’m thinking of Pam Grier 😂 two beautiful sexually symbolic Pams for 2 demos.
It also was a former wcw talent Pamela Paulshock
Punk's name fits him. All those females wrestlers he's dated over the years before marrying AJ Lee
Hardy boyz aren't the Hardy's real name
