- I review, breakdown and explain Fargo Season 5 Episode 10. I discuss the season finale which was focussed on Juno Temple as Dorothy as she escaped Roy Tillman’s ranch. I react to Ole Munch’s speech at the end whilst eating the biscuit, his origin and true identity, Witt Farr’s death, Lorraine being accepting of Dorothy, Gator having an arc of redemption and Roy ending up in prison. I also discuss the ending, the deeper meaning and the connections and easter eggs to the Fargo movie from 1996.

The "No daughter of mine" comment was the turning point in the relationship between Dorothy and the MIL.
Definitely!
My wife gasps and turns to say something and I'm crying like a baby. Speaking of.. I LOVED when Lorraine said 'you're fighting for your right to be a baby...' : ) what a show.
@@KenMac-ui2vb i cried too in this moment 🤝
Jennifer Jason Leigh did the darn thing. I love her performance. Everyone was exceptional .
Yeah her development was so good!
@@BrainPilotAnd she bought off the entire prison population (likely the guards as well to look the other way) in order to have Roy's fellow inmates beat and torture him for as long as he was there. The look on Roy's face, when he realized what she had done , was priceless. She sure wiped that smirk off his his face.
@@MrNorcal81It couldn't have been more perfect! 😂
The only thing I wish they had done differently in the prison scene was Lorraine finding out whom the “you know whom I am” guy that Roy kidnapped was. Only for him to be mafia related, and that they have people in the prison. Another comeuppance for Roy to pay for his actions.
@@angelaraber Yup, Roy is about to find out what the true definition of "hard time" is. 😱
Ole Munch washing his hands I think means that he has been baptized and cleansed for his sins. Munch happily eating the biscuit means that he's free from debt too. Munch seems puzzled by the kindness and generosity of Dot's family. He was sort of like a frightened kitten that they win over.
That smile was everything... 😭
Reminiscent of a communion ceremony except with orange pop and a biscuit. Ole receives forgiveness for his sins and is freed. What an exceptional ending to the series.
@@aaron-az Very eucharistic.
@@evanhughes7609very much so.🙏🏽
I thought of Jesus's foot washing but baptism was my second thought.👍
Munch started the show at the house as a hooded hitman. The show finished with him happy eating biscuits in the same house. Brilliant writing.
Literally, I couldn't have imagined that in the slightest
Exactly what I said. Brilliant!!!
It even starts with the description of Minnesota Nice and Ole Munch is won over by Minnesota Nice in the very last scene.
ABSURD ENDING!!!;
@mariaradosta3490 absurd ending. Just plain stupid. Underground tunnel scene was ridiculous. Cop just stands there while he is being stabbed. LMAO!!!
a man is grateful.
lol well done!
For some reason Wayne clanking bottles just made that exchange for me.
This season and particularly this finale were pretty much perfect, I agree that Juno Temple absolutely smashed her role out of the park. My only disappointment is that the season has ended, I could watch a whole season based purely on Ole Munch, one of the most interesting characters in any show I've ever seen.
Amen !!
Yes! We need a orgin story of Ole Munch
we might see more of ole munch in the next season, like in the other seasons with references or cameos from others
The season was shite imo
I would love a follow-up season with Munch sticking around and integrating into contemporary American Midwestern society. He probably has relatives from the Old Country who immigrated the US and settled in the area, whose descendants are still there. Imagine Great-Uncle Ole from across the sea shows up at the family reunion next year.
I must admit that I had an unexpected laugh in an intense scene, with Ole Munch holding the orange soda and out of nowhere, his bottle being clinked :)
That was comedy gold.
Hilarious
This should really boost Sam Spruell’s career. He was awesome in the role of Ole Munch 😂
Jennifer Jason Leigh was superb as were all the other !!
Every single character was spot on. I can't wait for season 6. Phenomenal show and series.
I still feel like the zodiac killer 2.0 killed that whole family after that awkward ass bite of the biscuit but who knows… 🤷🏾♂️
I got my impression of him down now 😅
He was the best in my opinion.
I don’t know how anyone could make a finale more beautiful than this. The final shot of Munch experiencing forgiveness after 500 years of being a Sin Eater made me cry. I love the juxtaposition of the 3 Lyons using their faith the do good in the world compared to the Tillmans’ corrupt faith. Dot and her family’s love, joy, and compassion triumphed over Roy’s arrogance and brutality. I can’t express how deeply the ending affected me. 💕
literally bawled my eyes out !!
Dorothy 'kissed the frog' so to speak & broke the curse of the sin eater... well played😊
Perfect!
More like gave him absolution from his sins via the eucharist.
...tho using orange pop instead of wine.
Does it mean he can die now, do you think?
@@flygrace That's how I choose to read it. Seems more on theme rather than Dorthy now having a domesticated sin eater🙂
Yeah, his aging is now off pause. First thing would be to get braces.
Sam Spruell absolutely stole the finale. What a great performance. And of course, Juno throughout the whole season. Class!
I think Jennifer Jason Leigh was very good in this. She was extremely in her character
He was a bit like Anton from no country for old men ..but even more ethereal .I'm sure Sam based his accent on Werner Hertzog .Great performance .
Stole every single scene he was in, dude was hypnotizing
I think this season was one of the best seasons of television I have EVER seen. I loved the tone so much and the acting was just phenomenal. I knew Juno Temple was great from Ted Lasso, but she seriously blew me away with the intense commitment she had portraying this character. And it goes for the rest of the cast as well.
The Coen Brothers are my favorite filmmakers and I'm in such awe that the legacy of one of their seminal works is still being honored today with such exceptional execution. 10/10 for me
Yes indeed.
Who KNEW? I liked her on Ted Lasso but this performance was a revelation. She's a contender.
Munich’s haircut: as iconic as Anton Chigurh’s in No Country For Old Men
Yeah i'd agree there!
The final scene was inspired by the scene Chigurh had with the widowed wife according to an interview with Noah.
@@JG-vq6rd - oh? Interesting!
I actually feel , and have already been saying, they "borrowed" from that film with this character.
@@lancehobbs8012 I'd say more inspired by then borrowed from. Definitely the look and weird haircut were borrowed but the characters themselves were very unique from each other. Chigurh was a pure psychopath with no real code. Nor was there anything supernatural about him. Oly, on the other hand, was supernatural and his code was biblically based. Chigurh could not be negotiated with and had no interest in redemption. Oly did want redemption, although he may not have recognized it. Oly could be negotiated with but he recognizes insincerity, as was the case with Gator. However, when it's sincere, as with Dot, he listens, takes it in, considers it and allows it to change his path.
What a great season of the show! I just want to reiterate what I said in the video, THANKS for tuning into the Fargo videos every week it's been good fun discussing theories in the comments with you all. As I mentioned, I'll be releasing my breakdown of Fargo (1996) in the next couple of days as i'm still working on it. Let me know what you thought of the finale below!
But how do we know if he’s immortal the wiki has not confirmed it at all 11:33 .
looking forward to your movie review
This season didn't have a tie in to the other seasons at least that I didn't see anyway. But it was a good season none the less.
The best biscuit scene I have ever seen. So much emotion in that one bite of biscuit. Perfect 😍
It genuinely was!
I think the scene between Lorraine and Roy in prison was also intended to illustrate that even though the rich and powerful could influence the extent of the prison sentence Roy received from the courts, the real power of punishment is ultimately held by extra-judicially by the rich.
Roy stated that prison society was to him almost a utopian hierarchical structure, so in one sense he was not imprisoned but in fact liberated - Lorraine then turned it on its head that with the power of money and debt the rich can manipulate that hierarchy to mete out whatever brand of justice they wish, outside of the legal system. While we may revel at Roy receiving an Old Testament punishment, the darker message is that true power lies outside of our laws and institutions.
Good observation. I was satisfied that Roy was going to pay for his sins while at the same time horrified how person can have so much power over another just because of their wealth.
I love how Lorraine really turned the tables on Roy in that scene.
The wealthy are only as powerful as people's worshipping of money. So while it may seem as if the rich are invincible, they're always one revolutionary shift away from the facade being over. This is why they move to protected communities and work so tirelessly to control narratives and messaging through media.
Exactly
At least sometimes, even in a corrupt system, justice is served.
I'm actually Danish 😉and a huge fan of the entire Fargo TV show, from season 1 to 5. In my opinion, the latest season surpasses all the previous ones. I genuinely believe that Fargo is currently the best TV show I have ever seen from the USA! One sign of its high quality, for me, is that any interpretation never captures it all. I can keep interpreting the many layers of the series. So gratifying and enriching.
The score for this show is underrated. Jeff Russo does an amazing job.

@@cernunos8153 Nadine and Linda ,(like the good with Glenda from oz.) the little woman who used home alone tactics to fight and stay alive.
You mean Dorothy, Linda was roys first wife he killed
Dot giving Munch the biscuit to eat and his transformation when tasting it made me think of the Eucharist.
I thought the scene with the biscuit was like Dot giving Ole Munch Holy Communion made with love and joy to overcome sin. She said that he also needed to be forgiven. Dot was forgiving Munch and he was redeemed. It was the conquest of the New Testament over the Old Testament "eye for an eye" morals of Munch and Sheriff Roy throughout season 5. It was interesting that Dot's addition to the biscuit recipe was the use of "milk and honey."
...using orange pop instead of wine
@@Delmarva_Heritage_Recipes Oh, yeah. Fuck the ten-hour-built concept of a tiger protecting the family. Let's turn the last two minutes into a fucking metaphor for bibly.
@@bmxrichard21 The whole saga of season five (and all of the Fargo seasons) is about how people live their lives, which always includes brilliance, ugliness, ignorance, evilness, insanity, greed, love, kindness, confusion, gentleness, religiosity, satanism, spirituality, thoughtlessness, etc. The last few moments are just more of the same. The kindness of Dot, and her family, for me, goes far beyond any religious point of view. I think the writer was not preaching but showing some constructs, though messed up and fairy tale-ish, can steer certain people down the path of being decent humans beings, especially those that have suffered from PTSD and the like. You could choose to look at it as more the work of a puppet master (I don't care to), or the work of something greater than the individual or even the collective of man. One that is not a fairy tale to be talked about. Something beyond mere superficial religion.
What a crazy way to end a wild ride. To have Ole Munch in the living room with Dot, Wayne & Scotty was truly brilliant. I was sad not to see Witt have a happy ending, though. Overall, it's a great season!
Couldn't agree more!
I agree but I feel like so much of the story was how people handle being indebted - Witt owed her a life debt and he chose to pay it
I loved this episode so damn Munch!
Ayeeee! Nice

I absolutely loved iseason 5. The final scene with Ole in the house was spell binding. The end shot beautiful. I want to watch the whole series again.
Absolutely! I watched the Ole scene a couple of times!
Yeah it was such a good moment!
They did it. They stuck the landing.. This season is tied for best if not best. The way they concluded each character was perfect for me and the episode structure was brilliant. All I can say is was he poisoned or was the biscuit really full of love and joy? Was Gator about to fall into the same hole he came out of? Great season.
Yeah I'm so glad that they got the landing! Hmmm... True! I think it was full of Love and Joy
Absolutely agree. But yeah love and joy - not posion no way
Ole had a belief, that is what drives people into complications. He was guided into a better way of thinking. If only biscuits were the answer to upgrade thinking, believing, loving.
@@KimAass-qe6wr LOL. They didn't touch their food at all and waited patiently for him to go first. Just look at how shifty Wayne and Scotty were. Plus Dot glances over at Wayne when she gave him the biscuit. Freaking awesome that the result is ambiguous.
Wayne isnt campable of being shifty, seing as he is still effected by the electric shock he got. His whole demeanor while ole is there shows that he is not able to express anything else than love and joy, he isnt suspicious at all. Scottys behavior during oles visit does not show any fright, so theres no reason for her to be shifty neither. Oles smile at the end shows real joy, and seing as he tells a supernatural story of living for hundreds of years to me says that he really was cured or relieved from his spell. Thats my opinion and unlike season 3 i didnt find the ending ambigious at all,but thats just my take. When he ate pancakes (said he wanted) wafles at the old womans house she didnt make them with love, seing as she wondered why ole was at her house and were afraid, and therefore those wafles didnt do anything for him.
The actors in this season were incredible
Brilliant. I appreciate that the "big shootout" E9 primed us for turned out to be a false flag, and that E10 went in an unanticipated, much deeper direction. One of the best endings in television serial history.
Yeah it was a great way to lure us down a completely different path!
@@BrainPilotAnd yet, it was even more satisfying.
There was carnage: there was a lot of guns and a lot of men using them. We weren’t shown that, but it happened. It wasn’t part of the story.
@@angelaraberbaking cookies for 30 minutes might be satisfying to some, but it sure as hell wasn't for me. If I wanted cookies I would've tuned into Rachael Ray. This is Fargo, not a day time cooking program!
i felt like this season didnt have much shocking deaths
Have to say, i had a feeling very early a character like Witt wouldn't make it to the end. I'd been dreading it. By the finale, i had started to have some hope that he'll be okay. But as soon as I saw him and Roy in the same room, I knew it was over.
Same here
Same and I cried
I literally gasped when he died. The only disappointment of the finale.
I thought Witt would make it and think the writer couldn't figure out how to tie up an otherwise great story with Witt the living character in it.
Literally when he went to catch him himself it was clear he was going to die.
I just hoped it wasn't that stupid. Maybe Gator would surprise him somewhere.
But it was surprising for me to die so stupidly...
The scene of Dot in the car finally going home. The expression of relief; of finally feeling safe for the first time since age 15, the full realization that she is going home to her family and can just live her life. Juno Temple deserves an Oscar for that scene alone.
Man, Juno was sooooooooo good.
Ole's ending reminded me of the ending of The Grinch That Stole Christmas
It reminded me I've to go to the dentist.
Ive loved every season of Fargo but this might be my favorite. Juno Temple was brilliant!!!
Epic season and conclusion. Thanks for recapping each episode so well!
Thanks for tuning in man!
They had better make more Fargo. This one in particular was outstanding. Loved that smile at the end. Right away you knew it hit him. Just outstanding
I feel like they will! It was such a good season
Very strong season. All the players brought an amazing force of commitment. I also teared up at the loss of "My Trooper" The ending was beautiful and also filled with tension. Overall, one of my favorite seasons and shows. Appreciate your breakdowns so much! Cheers!
I wanted Indira and Witt to end up together. I was so upset when he died!
Yeah it was such a shame when that happened!
Muy facil.....too easy.
The only real moment I thought didn't work. Just such a stupid stupid stupid character decision. He was about to get into a close quarter gunfight in a hospital lobby 2 episodes prior and then he just let's Roy stand there with a knife and basically forced him to stab him. Just shoot him in the kneecap. Who would let Roy have any chance of doing that? Didn't like that.
With the way Fargo usually fleshes out it's villains primary examples being Lorne Malvo or Hanzee and especially Yuri Gurka i kept waiting for that background explanation on Roy. Kept eagerly awaiting an episode that would explain somewhat why he was the way he was. Then that scene happens where he kills Karens father and then turns to his wife and says something to the effect of "don't make me chase you!!" This is when it dawned on me that he's just a scumbag and there's nothing profoundly deep about him. Even the chaotically evil Malvo had a code and was strongly hinted at being a personification of satan hense his constant biblical reference's and always referring to the garden of eden and his always tempting people to be there worst selves. Roy was ready to straight up murder his third wife because of something her father said!!?? He was shallow as a puddle unbearably hypocritical and rotten. No fancy explanation needed. Fantastic season as always though.
I think that's a really good observation to consider. I loved how in the beginning of the season, Roy was portrayed as ruthless and despicable, yet oddly charming. I also think Jon Hamm's innate likeability also tricks the viewer put their guard down a little and be curious about Roy's true motives. But I really loved that at the end of it all, all Roy Tillman turned out to be was a pathetic, cowardly, useless man intent on the sole purpose of gaining power and exerting control. I feel like it's often that we idolize figures who seem to epitomize the ideals we want to uphold, but who are ultimately just manipulators.
I'd like to think that Gator always kinda knew what a weak, perverted monster his father was (I mean, he directly saw Roy abuse Nadine/Dorothy, not to mention his mother). It wasn't until he was abandoned by his dad that he fully understood that. This is obviously not a defense of Gator's own weakness and depravity, though.
Roy shouldn’t be compared to Lorne or Hanzee, that’s Oola in this season.
I could imagine Lorraine Lyon helping Moonk with his outstanding debt and maybe hiring him as a debt collector👍
nice observation
Debt adjudicator perhaps. Seeing as he has a disdain for the rich.
😅
Lorraine would probably insist that Munch get a haircut and lose the skirt.
Was it ever mentioned Munch was in debt?
Excellent recap and analysis. Particularly your points on Ole Munch. I agree Juno Temple was spectacular. She's become one of those actors I trust implicitly to go deep and deliver *every* time. I also appreciate you lining up the original Fargo clips so perfectly as to show their recreation in Easter eggs. Really helpful visual! You're awesome, keep being awesome, please. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
THIS is one of those shows that you find yourself watching an episode back to back, which I did. And as far as analyzing/picking apart scene by scene, I feel you. But, if I may express my humble opinion, all I gotta say is that THIS s*** was GOOD. I wish for everyone out there to stay safe and warm, and loved, and to have the best evening...EVER! 🌹
You also smashed it with your review. I was in bits at the end, it perfectly wrapped up what I hope is the whole Fargo story. The long awaited roll of the Jeff Russo main theme was well worth the wait, second only to the 'one year later' heard after Molly and Gus set up their first date in Series 1. Such clever writing to bring everything together from Marg Gundersons confused words in the prowler at the end of the movie to Dot finally getting a bad man to understand that it was indeed a 'beautiful day'. Noah Hawley, as a sceptic in the first place, I have to say, take a bow. ❤
The perfect ending !! I absolutely loved it. Hated that series has ended
Yeah it's a massive shame!
This review is spot on. You nailed the tone the style, the message. What incredible season of television
Thanks! And it was an incredible season wasn't it!
What I loved about this season finale, when I started this episode I felt the finale showdown on the ranch was sped up and a little anticlimactic, but then we see ole munch interacting with her family and it was so much more tense and had a meaningful ending. Loved it!

The last episode flew by. I was shocked when the end credits rolled. I thought I was only about 15 minutes into it. Amazing season. Loved every minute of it, but season 4 was amazing, too. I don't agree that season 5 was a "return to form". Fargo never lost its form. God, I hope there's going to be a season 6.
Thanks good review. I always wondered why I never saw Ole Munch eat or drink anything, it gave me great joy to see him smile and know that someone truly cared about him. Well, I think season 5 is now officially my favorite season.

I appreciate your reviews and discussions. I think that seasons 5 and 2 are my favorite of the series, and I am looking forward to season 6.
Glad you like them!
The ending was just…perfect and heartwarmingly surreal.
Dorothy never forgets what her guardians did for her. Wit, Lorraine, Indira, and Ole are all tiger cubs now
Yes, the whole plot was about a whole bunch of people trying to save someone for no other reason than that they just cared for her and wanted nothing in return from her. It felt so heartening. So much love on this season. And they managed to do it without getting sappy or corny.
I actually wanted to hug Ole Munch in the end.
I have never watched Fargo but I felt compelled to watch this and it has been excellent.
Yeah this season was just simply remarkable. It made the show good again!
I loved this whole season, and the finale was gloriously unpredictable! Aside from Witt's fate (I really hoped he would get to live), it was fantastic. As a Minnesotan, that was perhaps the most Minnesota ending EVER, dontcha know. I love Ola Munch's redemption, and the new relationship built on mutual respect between Dot and Loraine.
One part I loved is that Roy didn't get some glorious death in battle fighting the powers that be... instead he's shot by a woman (a tiger) on his front porch and arrested without incident... his "war" never happened, and now he's going to live out the rest of his life in prison with all the power he used to wield over others stripped from him completely. It was more fitting than a quick "heroic" end in a climactic firefight.
yes he didn;t get to play the martyr and was bested by a woman
@@mlsaulnier...and the rest of his life will be a living hell. 👏👏👏
The one thing I found odd when gator left the bunker the lid was completely off , when Roy went through then up the lid was on . Who put the lid back on ? Oh right he was surrounded by law enforcement … never mind. They probably closed the lid maybe, loved the way Karen was the bait for Dot to take Roy out . Thought that was righteous that Dot appealed to Karen to end the madness of Roy .rate it Number 2 👍👍👍👍👍
I had the same thoughts about that lid, and came to the same conclusions as you did. 😂
Same regarding the lid 😅
I don’t think Karen did anything on purpose. She still seemed angry with Dot while being arrested.
Teleportation. One second he's in a field with trees. The next, he's in an empty field as long as the eye can see. They're using a Teleportation device
The FBI put it back. They knew he would be coming out that tunnel because Gator had told them he might. They put the cover back so that he wouldn't be spooked. You could see the snow had been scraped off half of the top of it.
The show was excellent, and so were your breakdowns. Thank you 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
One of the very few "can't miss" TV shows.
THANK YOU! Love your reviews & insight. 💖🤗🏆
Glad you like them!
Absolutely loved it.
I actually liked the anticlimactic nature of the battle. And I LOVE that Roy's fate is to be as close to a battered wife as possible.
On the topic of debt, I think- especially considering his "another of Roy's victims" childhood- Gator's are mostly paid and what remains can be set up on a schedule.
Assorted loves:
Scotty's "go with it" attitude toward Munch
Wayne's brain damage just making him twice as nice as before (or more like his docile dad, yet loving)
Lorraine ultimately hugging Dot, but still not remotely cuddly
The recipe (which I want to try)
Dot taking a lesson from Wayne's simplicity toward's Munch's code: Well if that's your problem just change your dang code
You do such an excellent job! Are you a writer? Of books? But thanks for your review and synopsis. I really appreciate it.
Idea for a FARGO spinoff: Munch attempts to spend the next few centuries working off his sin debt by helping his neighbors. Title- wait for it, wait for it...
A MAN CALLED OLE
😬
Kind of like Reacher but Ole makes a far superior antihero.
I like there are some mysterious or unexplained things in the series.
In season 2 we had ufo's, in season 3 I think it was god, en now in season 5, we have a guy who is 600 years old.
Great series, I wish more people will watch it, because most people doesn't know these series!
I hope they make more seasons of this!
Dots family are the kind you wanna hang out with . Their home seems welcoming idk I wanted that biscuit too
The only thing missing was how Dorthy gained those deadly skills that she displayed. This was real special training type stuff.
She gained them while trying to escape Roy the first time.
It was mostly contrived writing, though. She didn't have any discernible skills, other than maybe setting up a few basic booby traps.
They were clever ways to survive, she didn’t go around killing people. She was smart & brave.
You're right about Dot. Great character, but that little bit more backstory would have gone a long way.
She had a pretty in depth knowledge of firearms for a housewife. I assumed she learnt that stuff while married to Roy, but they never really confirmed it.
Brilliant, loved it 😊
Thank you for sharing
The exit was closed when Roy got there, Gator left it open. This showed something happened off screen.
Yes, very well done by the director-writers. I was thinking did they make a mistake? No the feds closed the exit back up so Roy wouldn't be any the wiser!
that final shot is maybe my favorite ending of any show i’ve ever seen. full body chills.
Yeah it was awesome already!
What an impeccable season and what an amazing cast. The four J’s (Juno, Jon, Joe, Jennifer) were all brilliant but I also have to give it up for David Rysdahl as Wayne. At first his gentle cluelessness left me slightly irritated but by the end I just smiled every time he spoke. That final scene when Munch gives the speech about the tiger and there’s an awkward silence before Wayne says “We saw a tiger once. At the Minnesota Zoo. Didn’t we Scotty?” in that classic Midwest-nice tone absolutely cracked me up. 😂
When no one offered Witt a bullet proof vest, or that he didn’t have one, was worrisome. And when Dot didn’t kill Roy when she had the chance had me yelling at the TV. Can’t forgive her for not shooting him!!! 🤗
great finale!!!
Btw: we don’t know how many were injured or killed that day. We didn’t need to see the carnage, we know what that looks like, we only cared about Dot.
She did kill the man at the hospital. He was shot in the head point blank because of her actions.
great breakdown... unexpected, yet awesome was my takeaway as well...

Absolutely loved this Fargo season 5....! I didn't think any season could eclipse season 1 with Billy Bob Thornton. The twist & turns of this season with the awesome characters played by Temple, Ham & Spruell just knocked it out of the park though, KUDOS!
Yeah this season fr exceeded my expectations!
This season was by far the best. Gator’s fate was especially sad to me. Dorothy’s comforting of him was great. In only one Juno Temple from Ted Lasso. Her character on there annoyed me, but this performance completely changed my opinion of her. The whole cast was phenomenal.
Best since season 2 not the best of all the seasons
Loved the Hateful Eight reference
Great cast great show!
I need 10 seasons 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 my favorite show every season
Hard to believe anyone would do an analysis of the this episode, use words like "angel", "love and joy", and "evil", and make no reference to the Christian allegorical themes running deep in this season and these characters. Hard to miss the Communion of the biscuit, the baptism of the hand washing, Roy' being sent down to "hell", and the general lesson of love and forgiveness in Dorothy's treatment of Gator (and not the simplistic vengeance we see played out in other action dramas.) The finale showed the transition from the Old Testament (Moonk) belief system of a vengeful God to the New (Dorothy), belief in a God whose greatest power is selfless love and forgiveness of sin, but only for those who consciously seek it (Gator). (And not the simpleton SJW forgiveness of sin because of identity or victim status.) To simply stop at the veneer of debt symbolism is to get trapped in the contemporary language of social justice nuttery. I am by no means an evangelizing, or even an active Christian. But for so many commenters to have no sense or appreciation of their own cultural heritage is remarkably sad. These ideas didn't just happen. They have an important historical source that is the foundation of most of western civilization. This isn't an Islamic or Buddhist story. It's the story of Judeo-Christian culture. Recognize it for what it is and give it its due.
Awesome season finale Roy finally getting his commupance dot and lorraine finally embracing. Dot and ils much getting closer all great overall
Yeah I'm glad he ended up in prison! He didn't get an easy way out of it lol
Show was incredible. I was a wee bit surprised? by the last episide so thanks for this and the comments I have read. Not sure if anyone has seen the movie Night of the Hunter- Robert Mitchum. I felt the same fear watching Jon Hamm as Roy that I felt seeing Robert Mitchum in that movie.
This whole season was incredibly well written and produced in my opinion, the depth of the characters was immense and I found the finale just as powerful, bravo to all involved in writing this superb season, I thought the finale was perfect, it totally surpassed my expectations.
In the next Fargo episode Ole Much is employed as a salesman at the Lyon car dealership. He is very successful with a warm personality and convincing spin. He has moved into the Lyon home and become a part of the family.
Haha, imagine!
Best season ever. Every single actor/actress played his/her part like their life depended on it! The finale was so good, it felt too short! "A man" was simply magnificent!
He went from being a Sin Eater to an eater of Joy and Love!💕 👍🏼
While there was several connections to the film fargo, I haven't heard anything about the connections and references to no country for old men. Especially the final scene, which was literally the scene where Javier Bardems character kills John Brolins wife. But turned on its head and the killer actually chooses to ignore the so called "code" he lived by. And was free because of it.
This was an epic finale due to its poeticism
100%!
The inter cutting of Gator walking blindly with Roy's peons was symbolizing how bling they were to
