finally someone who teaches us how to practice instead of all those other art CZcamsrs that tell us to just practice. Thank you very much
Yeah hate that stuff to ‘just do it’ yes but how
You’re a life saver! Thank you so much!!
From 3:40 to 6:46 your voice over is gone and it's just background music. I'd really like to know what your saying during this parts.
I agree
Same, please notice it.
I thought I was going crazy with that smooth jazz interlude
Noticed the same
Just a guess, but maybe C is drawing from the elbow and finally D is drawing from the shoulder. Each one is a step up, so just a guess.
Thank you! Been working on my line confidence and I'm sure that these exercises will come in handy.
Haha, I was already struggling when you told us to divide the canvas into 4 equal rectangles.
Haha, I just did a drawing in which I had to divide the page and I was also struggling haha
can't stop watching these, i learn best when the video itself has exercises and what to do. thankyou!
Thank you for this video. Explaining how to exercise is really important.
Exactly the kind of help i was looking for, thank you!
Superb thanks for mentioning
Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial. I will go to practice.
Thank you. Unfortunately when you were describing the difference between different lines your voice was silent and there was just music
Yeah my bad. I need to remake this video :)
please do@@thedrDraw
Can you remake this video king. You don’t have to delete this one, just make an updated version!
i used to practice these kinds of practices before knowing this fundamental info. Thanks for clearing my Brain Pathway. (really thanks again)
I forget where I learned this, but for warm ups I start by drawing circles clockwise and counter-clockwise, 2 rotations each time, and not trying to get a perfect circle but have both loops overlap
then I draw a star/snowflake with 4 lines- so like a "+" on top of an "x", making all lines intersect at the same point. and which direction I draw the lines in is random
and lastly I just make grids. just some large 5x5 hashes
That’s a good way of warming up! Especially the one in all directions. Makes it possible to draw all directions ;)
@@thedrDraw I like it cause it loosens up all parts of your arm. your fingers/hand for the circles, hand/wrist with the stars, and wrist/shoulder with the hashes
really helps my line confidence
OMG that Cinder artwork behind you, so good 🥰Admittedly I chose that book because of its cover and wound up loving both.
The parts with random music and no commentary really ruined the video
currently taking a beginning drawing class and really struggling with line confidence. I'm not used to careful lines, or representative drawing. I'm used to a much different arm and hand movement with expressive and very loose painting, so trying to be more "controlled" is just not intuitive for me. Going to try these practices and see if it helps. Thanks for posting!
It was used to this as well in the beginning and it Feld very uncomfortable but with time it will become more natural ;)
thanks this was helpful:)
I loved the piano music.
These are really just drills 😳 I do these all the time, every day and yes drills definitely help. I would love to see some future insight in your thoughts on what a quality line IS, and the mental cues you use in order to create a quality line. I do believe there is a lot of importance in the mindset, as well as slowing down. Creating less lines over all, instead of just throwing a bunch of lines down willy-nilly, take a moment to create less lines and focus on quality. Pressure is another huge factor… we must learn to draw lines with heavy pressure, but especially learn how to remove all pressure to the point we can’t hear any noise and barely see any mark. We can also use the edges of the paper as a guide for straight lines, and use the essence of calligraphy to improve our contour lines. Line is a very intense topic and fundamental, I would certainly love to follow you as you explore it ☺️👏
Good point, and a great topic for a video. Let me see if I can develop a video around it :)
All I heard from the 3:44 min. mark to the 7:29 min. mark was the background music. I was intrigued about line control and line confidence, as that is an issue of mine and I wanted to hear your take on that, but that music hindered your explanation
maybe his microphone was mute somehow during that
Hey nice tips there man, keep it up!
hehe, yeah sure will :) any preference you have regarding workouts?
@@thedrDraw not really, usually i draw straight horizontal and vertical lines like fill the whole page with them then vertical lines and then its just circles, big, small, tiny then i draw some cubes, cylinders and stuff so pretty much the same for me
0:00, angelic ah melody
Sorry?
Hi, can you maybe explain again what you where telling when describing the lines?
is the audio cut off from the 2nd paper because you want us to be excited and then feel like we missed something important so we join up lol... but still good lesson.
Yeah I had to do something because there was a complaint. But I'll make a new one.
Hi dr Draw i recently realised that I have no control over proportions when drawing figures do you have any exercise I can use to help with that
Hi I want to know the name of the type of music you are playing in the background?
Im struggling with this so much
I'm already waiting for the next video 😅
Thanks Trevor! happy to hear you like my work. Any requests? I'm working on a 10 min perspective exercise, but any ideas are more than welcome!
beautiful intro
LOL
Sorry, but for some reason a jazz piano came into the video while you were drawing lines (at 11:40) and I never could hear your voice again! Tried on phone and computer...😮
🤣 Hooooollllyy Cow.... 0:02 seconds in......😭😭 wasn't expecting that!🤣🤣🤣👍🏽👍🏽
Is it just me or was there no talking for a while?
Hey could you make a video about drawing without sketch? whether beginners could try or not? I once saw an artist say that it's a matter of habit, so I was left with this question, if you make a video about it I'll be grateful 😀
Hey Jack, to be honest I don't advise to make a drawing without a sketch as a beginner. That's the same as sitting behind a piano without knowing what the keys are doing. It's gonna end up being crap. Give yourself some freedom to sketch. If you do that enough and make it a habit, you'll slowly start to visualise your sketch before you put it on paper. But that will take at least 5 years.
@@thedrDraw thanks
With this video I just realized how poor my dexterity is 😅 I better work on that thanks 😊
exist one music over the voice
3:59 the sound cut off
I've been told it's not the best idea to lean your neck backwards when stretching
Oh is that so, didn’t knew. Do you know why?
@@thedrDraw something to do with it being unhealthy for your spine. I think it's just not designed to bend it that way
idk I learned this during band camp when we did yoga for a warm up
oh no! the sound when explaining the lines! i lost you!
Yeah my bad I've got this on my todo
but what if i have a small tablet?
Then I think you should stop with art. Or buy an even smaller tablet 🫠
@@thedrDraw i was srs with my question
what u said abt using ur elbow i have a huion h420
@@thedrDraw since its a small tablet what can i do, use my wrist instead?
@@bilalghazi2574 I know it's been a while since you asked, but consensus is that yeah, for the smaller tablet sizes you can only use fingers and wrist.
Is the sound supposed to cut to music I can see your mouth moving but cannot hear anything you are saying
When you are drawing electronically, nobody can see your hand. Only your head bobbing and then the lines on the screen. We do believe you drew with the wrist, though.
Good point I’ll try to remake the video and make a bit more cleae
@@thedrDraw 🙏
instructions unclear, i dislocated my arm
Uuuuuuummmmmmmmm?!)(?#!?
3:40 wut?
until 6:49 I have no clue what was said
I am so confused if this was intentional, I hear nothing but piano jazz when he’s clearly talking and this is the only comment I can find that mentions it.
Yeah my bad! I had a notification about a music claim and tried something via the CZcams studio and it took away the sound. Now I can't get it back. Very annoying. Will try to make a new video.
did anyone else lose the talking? I could literally only hear jazz music and therefore lost a ton of instruction...
No it’s not you. I made a mistake with this video and got flagged. Will renew it
@@thedrDraw thank you!
wtf is this trolling. srsly wtf
This video is a waste of time. Astonishingly poor quality.
they made a mistake with the audio. But I've never seen an art tutorial talk about how physically stretching is good for your art and display it. This is actually one of the higher quality line confidence exercise routines out there
I would also really recommend trying drawabox in which a lot of dr. draw's practices are also part of those lessons
Yeah definitely a great practice!
