Besides that's literally not how boxing works, a first round knockout doesn't teach you anything. It's trashcans to build their profile, then they take learning fights against journeymen once they start getting eyes on them, then it's a gatekeeper or two to prove they can compete at elite level and finally you work your way to a mandatory position. Jakes already built his profile and had some learning fights but now he's dropped back down to fighting literal cab drivers so he can feel better about himself after the loss to Tommy. These fights do literally nothing for him. He's found his level with Tommy so he needs to stick around there and get some rounds in with people who can actually take a punch.

The main and pretty much only thing I could see Jake and his team, taking away from this is being able to say: look the MMA fighters are better than these “boxers” that he could’ve been fighting instead and that’s why he was fighting them before
And since he announced another fight in just one months time to me, it’s probably gonna be another easy fight, and then his record will have three quick wins, and it will be padded similar to a lot of traditional boxers

He never once faced an active MMA fighter in their prime to make that statement. Anderson Silva was 48 years old and had been on a 7 fight losing streak in his own sport. Tyron Woodley was a welterweight on 5 fight losing streak. Ben Askren was a 37 year old welterweight and primarily a wrestler known for having the worst striking in MMA. If he had faced and beat Marvin Vettori, Sean Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis, etc then I’d have taken him more seriously. We told him to fight a boxer so he went and found the worst possible boxers who were retired. The one decent, YOUNG and ACTIVE boxer he faced, he lost and was gifted a split decision by an American judge in Saudi Arabia.
Traditional boxers don't have the fame or money to get into the big paying opponents straight away, they need to build a fanbase. Hence they start off low, and eventually go through the levels. What Jake is doing just doens't make sense. He fights MMA guys whilst proclaiming their records and names etc to be bigger fights than anything else, and said they'd compete at a high level of boxing.......then loses to Tommy Fury (made sense as a fight), and now he's just fighting guys that are inactive fighters who have padded records (often a padded unknown record is because they've been unable to step up to the next level or they couldn't gain enough "hype" to warrant paying higher fees for ranked fights etc so they fight regionally.....then after beating this guy who has been working on the oil rigs recently, on the weekend....at 190 (cruiserweight)...he calls out Canelo....who is locked in negotiations with PBC to fight highly ranked contenders for his 168 belts....
Just literally no idea what direction he's wanting to go. Another easy fight? Tommy Fury is "easy" in terms of boxing in comparison to the world ranked, European etc ranked fighters. To me, he should be looking for the Tommy Fury rematch (if possible), if not then he should decide which of these "world title" belts in boxing he wants, because if so he has to start beating legitimate contenders and well ranked opposition. If not them two options, then idk....I just want to see him fight a dude who is skilled, similar age and size in boxing....so we can see what kinda level he's at.

@@brmawe I just want someone who is a similar age and size to Jake, whom is genuinely either well regarded or ranked within some form of respected organisation so I can see what level he's at. Beating smaller and strikers of MMA at boxing, losing to Tommy Fury and now beating up inactive boxers whom had to pad their record as they either couldn't progress to the next level skill wise or couldn't sell enough tickets to warrant a bigger fight. The last guy he fought hadn't fought in years and was working on oil rigs....like bruh...he may have had a decent looking record...but the opponents he beat were woeful.

A problem with boxing in general is that boxers can improve their ranking by fighting inactive fighters. What's the point of differentiating active and inactive, when beating either has the potential to improve your ranking.

This fight felt like some of Tommy's first opponents either a out right bum or a local can crusher who was also past his athletic prime. I think what we want is either the KSI fight or the Tommy Fury rematch. Its no accident that Ryan was extremely slow and unmotivated in there, they searched for an opponent that looks good on paper so Jake could say he's stepping up his levels of competition and then Jake can smoke him and say "Damn, I guess I'm just that good" even though its just a facade. Like Bryan said here, a guy like Anees Taj who has a 7-5 record would be much more competitive with Jake despite his record, but Jake don't want that smoke.

Well it's not just to pad your record and build a name it's also to get actual ring time and improve. People are wanting him to face bigger and better opponents but he's only boxed since 2020. My guess is his plan is to do what he's doing for a couple more years and then try to make a push for some big money fight he can call it a career on.
What happens is, you take average boxers with decent records and put them in a sold out stadium with thousands of people and they get nervous as it's there first time whilst jake is used to it

There is Only 1 reason Jake is doing this. 1 reason only. It's the Fury Rematch. He needs to be able to go into the Fury rematch stating that his past opponents boast a 22 and 1 record or whatever it would be. It's a talking point. Everyone made fun of Fury for the guys he fought and the records of those said guys. Jake doesn't want to deal with that flak. So he fights nobodies with good records. It's smart for promotion.

The only thing I thought of that made sense to me (and is pretty likely) is that it "wasn't" a Jake Paul fight. It was Amanda Serrano's fight, and he attached himself to the card to bump it up...for her. But, I still agree with you that he needs more realistic competition, however, if it really WAS a way to boost Amanda's stage, then it was fuckin noble of him to do it.
