  • @robtob2983
    @robtob2983 Před 5 lety +4

    Great cities that Mark recommends. Something to keep in mind when planning your trip, you will use at least a 1/2 day and often more to change cities. Packing, transfer to the train station, time on train, transfer to hotel and checking in can eat up a lot of time. If you are flying from the US your arrival day may not offer you much time to sightsee. If you travel from Saturday to Saturday (over 2 weeks) for instance you will have 12 full days on the ground, divide that by 4 cities and you have 2.5 days or less in each. It can be done but you may want to limit to 3 cities and take a day-trip out of one of them to get away from the crush of city life.

    • @WilkinsMichael
      @WilkinsMichael Před 3 lety +2

      This definitely has to be factored in. I'd say 3 full days in each of these cities is realistically a 17 day trip even with no day trips and flying between cities so really it is closer to a 3-week trip.

    in Paris I took the free breakfast from the hotel, it was pretty good, great variety, then ate a crepe on the street, got some fruits/veggies from the market and keep them in the hotel and for the night just bread, cheese and wine, you don't really need to spend too much on food, in two weeks I only went to restaurants 3 times

    From my first Experience in Europe...I recommend, at least for people like me, going to only one country.
    I saw Spain and Portugal my first time, and I felt like I wanted to see more of Portugal, but the trip to both was considerably cheaper than just to Portugal. A tour group gives, and gave me, a good overview. Now I just want to go to one city and stay there.

    I have to say an wonderful alternative to Versailles would be a day trip to Normandy with a knowledgeable guide. I loved Versailles, we spent our first night there before spending 9 more days in Paris. Our last day, we took a tour of Normandy. I think that is the most emotional trip I have ever been on. It is a wonderful tour and it very much brings World War II history alive. It makes it real to those of us that didn't have to live through it.

      It can be but if you book your ticket far enough in advance you can get some decent deals.
      The thing with a flight is that you have to factor in getting to and from the airport ($$$ and time), which isn't an issue in Paris since the station is in central Paris.
      Just something to keep in mind.
      Champagne day trip is also an option from Paris.

    Hey Mark, If I may make a suggestion, how about a video covering what to do if you have problems with your European flights and dealing with their airlines? I ask because one of my "hats" is working with a websites that caters to soccer moms and, with what happened with United recently, a few have spoken up wondering what they should do if they get bumped overseas and the differences between US policies and European policies. I believe it's illegal to overbook in Europe but a few of my moms still assume it may happen to them.
    Google'ing for this information just gets buried in news sites covering the Chicago incident.
    Thank you for your time

    I am living in Prague, i visited Paris, lived in Barcelona and also lived in Tampere Finland. I think in general people should not omit former Austro Hungarian and South Germany territories in central Europe.. So do not only visit Italy and France in Europe..even though both are gorgeous countries alone, but u can visit Krakow, Vienna, Salzburg, Nurnberg , Regensburg, Budapest, Auswitz (for history lovers), Munich. All are worth to visit in the central European region to understand the complicated history of Europe especially in the 20th century. I am glad u love Prague as a representative of that central european heritage we do share with surrounding countries... here u will feel more why EU matters more in Germany, Austria or Czech rep. than in UK.

    Thanks for the awesome tips as usual! Quick question - How do you get around in each city? Public bus? Taxi? Train? That's the piece that puzzles me when creating an itinerary. Anyone could shed some light? Much appreciated. Thanks.
