- The guys get some time in the "cheapest" Aston Martin. (Not counting the Cygnet, which is really a Toyota...). So what does entry-level get you in an Aston Martin? - try a great road and this Vantage V8.

I drove one of these recently, and was totally blown away with it. I know it's not the fastest, best handling, etc. But to me it was the whole experiance of driving it, sitting in it, and, of course, people looking at the car as you passed by. I took it on the motorway, and stayed at 70mph. People pulled alongside and just looked! I knew I had the power to pull ahead, but I didn't feel I had anything to prove......after all, It's an Aston Martin!
And i still look at these cars in 2024 when i see one. Still absolutely beautiful. I´m thinking about buying a Jaguar F-Type, which is irrational enough. But some part of my brain even thinks about getting an old Aston Martin Vantage, haha. If i only knew how expensive the ownership will be...
This review convinced me to purchase my Aston in 2014….still have it to this day, never selling. Thank you 🙏🏼
How much has it cost to maintain it so far?
Yellow? Red? Not likely.
Really liked the back and forth commentary
Love that grey and of course it reminds me of James Bond and that's why i want it.. Thank you
If I had one, I'd find every tunnel I possibly could and howl through with the windows all the way down!!
My dad got one last year and he has owned several Porsches, Muscle cars and other randos and he states that he can never downgrade again because the Aston has just put his standards too high.
What kind of ostentatious tool would drive a YELLOW Aston Martin? Get serious, dude. Gunmetal gray, navy blue, British Racing Green, MAYBE black.
Not the black, but I'm with you all the way on the other colours
The car looks great in yellow, actually. Have you ever seen one? I have. The proof of a great design is one that looks good in any color. The Ferrari Dino 246 was the same way. (And yes, it too looked great in Fly yellow. Quit being so judgmental.)
LMFAO, my father JUST bought a 2008 V8 Vantage Roadster that has a $15,000 custom yellow (non-standard) paint job. From what I understand, the original owner wanted a Porsche paint color, so he paid extra for it. Or something to that effect.
I think it looks okay. I can't say that it would be my first choice of a paint scheme though.
The Aston is pure class.....and is the epitome of the phrase “if you have to ask you can’t afford it”.... drivers of these cars prefer subtleties, reservedness, quality, ...... I get it so am the process of buying one! Ps and yes must have those B&O speakers!
It depends on who you ask. Watch our FAQ #2 where the guys talk about their favorite cars.
Awsome car, the 4.7 has it all. Going to be a classic for years to come.👍
I had a grin on my face when i saw that they did a review on the car to find out that Todd is ALL MERICA (country accent)! Paul understood the concept of the car but left out a few things. The Aston Martin (any model) is a gentleman's car, a beautiful car, something you can take out and smile everytime you get in the car. Told my wife if we ever hit the lottery... after paying our bills, giving family money to live life, and buying a house, my first and only expensive car I would get is an Aston
Love the reviews. Wish you guys could put out more, but either way, I'm a fan.
The more I listen to Todd the more I wish the producer would replace him. He is asking to change the color of a Vantage, are you kidding me?!
You are completely right!
Eh, he’s gotta complain about something..
Was a great car 8 years ago and it still is today
Nice Refreshing, Car review. I like what these guys are doing.
Totally agree with Paul.
The Aston experience classy, sexy, subtle beast..
I am in love with this car. I know that within the next two to three years that if there isn't anything better around for the price, I'll be the owner of one of these exquisite cars.
Lord Farquad does car reviews?
+Aaron CMH It must be said in the voice of one of those pigs.
After seeing your guys' Camaro review - I think Todd is my new favourite reviewer. For the selfish reason of sharing the exact same opinion! Kudos
4:29 perfect Vantage screenshot.
My review of my RED 07 AM Vantage. This is the closest review you can come by. 6 figures..ha. I got mine for 50k. special car...oh yes...very special every time I sit in it. It is better than a leather jacket, more like a coach purse. Daily driver but you do need to give it love when back in the garage. Im all emotional just thinking about it, so its just a reminder, power, beauty, soul. The 4.3 is not slow...ha. The torque curve is flat so its always there...chirping tires at 60mph. Has an ass you just want to slap. Simple, clean, work of art. I am James Bond, really.
Where is the review? I would like to see it.
This last was integrated responses to the video. However, since your interested, here is a followup. I've put 10k miles on it in 6 mos, one long 1.5k mile trip up I-95 and back, had a 40k service at the dealer, and made some cosmetic adjustments. So, after 10k it is still as tight as a drum, no squeeks or new noises, tires holding up well, and only added 1 liter of oil. Aston recommends service every 10k so I had the dealer do its 40k service. Cost was $1200 for all fluids, alignment, replaced thermostat (emissions light was on, thermostat was stuck open), general inspection, and loaner. Not cheap but well within my $2k year maint budget. The trip up I-95 was very comfortable with no unnecessary breaks, always conscious of speeding alot. The stick is very comfortable in traffic and city, I find myself in either 1-3-5 or 2-4 in city. Its fikle going to second but just takes some getting used to. The higher RPMs is where it responds best but it always puts my back into the seat. Be careful when gunning it because if your not looking forward you will cream whats in front of you. Very fast at passing and jutting through traffic. This car can drive way better than I so there is nothing scary hitting curves and tight spots. The front end is not visible so spacial awareness will take alot of time, mainly parking. Insurance is the same as my mini van, parts are expensive ($600 for rear break pads/sensors), Oil is $12 litre. But this is a special car. The car gets attention everywhere and alot of it. Mostly men and boys who appreciate the badge, women love the looks. Front row valet, but back 40 parking at walmart. Yes, I do take the car to the market and everywhere else. Its is too nice to keep in the garage.
Mark Stevenson Well.. only thing I would disagree on a 4.3L V8 having a flat torque curve. Although I've never driven an Aston I have own(ed) many comparable cars and 4.3L is pretty small for a V8. To get power I'm sure it needs to be revved up which is fine but definitely means that the torque curve is just that... a curve. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Sorry, my bad writing skills. I should have said feels instead of is. I do have to rev it above 4500 to get a punch.
Ahh.. That makes more sense.
But does it have an unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty?
omg
Dream car : v12 Vantage with manual transmission in the metallic Silverstone blue launch color.
Looks like a fantastic car. And if you really needed more power, they do have this exact car in a v12. Or the Vanquish.
Thank you, I really enjoyed this review.
i dont mind waiting for a year for a video , everyday driver is fkin awesome!
Nice job and video guys.
Best way to put it is the Aston is a gentleman's sports car...
Nice review. Nice footage :)
Aston Martin is supposed to be understated, meaning black, grey, silver etc look best as it suits the overall design of the car, red or yellow only looks good on either a supercar or muscle car
i enjoy you guys no matter what car your showing any car guy is a friend of mind..and by the way the Aston is a beautiful car
We aren't making any kind of fashion statement or suggestion - The guys are wearing the same shirts they always do in order to keep the branding and recognition consistent. We acknowledge car color is personal - however, Aston themselves are giving journalists a bright Orange Vanquish Press car right now - so like them or not, bright colors are available. Finally, there's no American car bias here - None of Todd's favorite (top 5) cars are American. Thanks for watching & commenting!
I love my Aston....I just upgraded the tail lights to the carbon clear edition. My Aston is in Jet Black.
NowUknowJoe oh really
NowUknowJoe no one cares
Saw that right after I posted my question, haha. Sorry
Also, awesome reviews! Your 'sports coupe' review helped me pick the new BMW 335is over the S5 and G37 IPL.
I love the 335is... and honestly think the exhaust sounds pretty close to GT-R... Truly an 'enthusiast' car, and it's just so FAST (and the DCT is insanely quick shifting). Also... red interior, definitely not as bland as the interior you guys tested.
Thanks for the response and I can't wait for more videos!
I drive the hell out of this car. It now has over 60k miles on it. Of note: taillights consistently get moisture in them. They must be replaced and the dealer always does it at no cost. Dimmitt automotive group, St Pete FL. Z rated tires are best for driving, continentals are best for the wallet. Just paid $1700 for f&r break pads and sensors. Don't let pads get to low. Sensors were $250. I highly recommend buying from dealer. Extra Benefits cover little expenses that add up.
How much is it costing to maintain? Insurance on it seems to be no more than a normal BMW Or Audi.
Mark Stevenson that's great how much did you get it for?
I use a leaf blower on my headlights, and tail lights after each wash.
Now I no longer have the condensation problem.
I just know it works for some reason.
@EverydayDriver that was a great answere. BTW I love your reviews - In my opinion you test the cars how everyone is supposed to be. I mean who really cares about lateral g etc.In the end you buy a car because you feel it fits you just right.
my dad is considering buying one, i really hope he does.
the only problem are the taxes in Denmark.
Todd doesn't seem to understand the whole point of an Aston very well.
Having watched all the V8 Vantage reviews, this is by far the best of them. Why? Because they actually seem to understand the car and why its what it is. I might even try to find some "like" function and click.
I like the color
LOL "drained, tired and low on oil" :-) Funny to see one with the wheel on the wrong side.
Put these guys on the racetrack. I guarantee they couldn't figure out what to do with that power. It's so funny when these junior varsity review people talk about this much power, that much power. I guarantee not one amateur reviewer could take that car anywhere near its Max. "Would I want more power, of course!" Give me a break. That thing has plenty
The guy with the long hair at about 16 seconds in has said it all. Truly what Aston has always intended from the start.
don't listen to the idiots, you guys are doing a great job presenting the videos, there's humor and expertise. I really enjoy the reviews. cheers
Would anyone happen to know the colour of this car? It looks like Meteorite Silver to me but it's hard to tell in the video as it might be a shade darker. Any info would be appreciated.
One of my dream cars. I wish I could own one.
Good review:-)
@Janesch ahaha i hear you man!! you dont see james bond rolling out in yellow or red astons
astons are beautiful because of their subtlety
Oh, I forgot to say, good video:)
Just, a yellow Aston Martin? The mind boggles.
After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting.
Leonard Nemoy
Best car ever made hands down
Wtf? A veyron is not the best car ever made by far. Yeah its got power but its pretty damn ugly and doesn't work well overall...
***** Yes. I think I would.
i cant think of any car more beautiful
hello Everyday drive! I have a question, i've heard that Aston Martins are hand made, is it true? thank you!
oh, wow, used Vantage is a must!!
@ 3:39 ..... absolutely beautiful. 720P quality, print screen, set as desktop, and cry because the car payment will likely be as much/more than the mortgage.
Im trying to decide if I want to buy one. Found one I like and its the eight color
Favorite car/ brand but I would prefer to see the db9 or at least the V12 vantage
Have you guys ever done a NSX review?
I think i prefer the Cygnet.
Aw lol
davidpfol hahahah
I have the future intention to buy an Aston-Martin V8 4.7, between 60 000/65 000 euros.
Is it a good choice ?
Yes!
@QshipHQ great comment, i absolutely agree
Buy a hummer if u want a yellow car smh. Loved the video
With Astons, I probably couldn't bring myself to buy one even if I could afford it. Aston is one of those companies where they play it safe, and make their cars just that much better every year. I would be consumed with lust every time a new one came out. If I were to get any of 'em though, I'd choose the new Vanquish.
Well no shit, it costs twice as much as this.
It sure is a beautiful car. Love to get one of these once I can afford one lol.
jay o these cars depreciate crazy, I'm sure you can get one if you have a steady decent job
jay o I know a guy who. has one no bull shittin lol.😂😁😁😀😄😅😅😅😅😅
The rev counter turns counter clockwise. Oouuhh, how exotic!!
@QuickQuips if i was trying to buy car around this price i'd consider those and also the maserati and of course the 911
This is the epitome of a Gran Touring car. Though part of me wonders if it'd be better to grab a XKR or R8.
This or the Audi R8 you guys also reviewed?
Plenty of people buy exotic high performance cars just for the car - not for the attention that sometimes comes with it. I thought a 'car guy' would understand such things.
Doors which pivot upwards to avoid curbs ftw
Oooo that explains why my cousins door alwats shuts itself 😂😂😂
This is the only Aston that I would buy.
can you please review a jaguar
Please do one on the Maserati Gran Turismo!
Mine is Grey
@TheCrazySweed i agree with you 100%
this or a maserati gt s?
Does it come with a column on autotrader.com/oversteer?
well said, trans ams are trans ams, comparing one to a aston is like comparing jack daniels to johnny walker blue label...neither are the worst or the best out there...both will get you equally intoxicated. the fact remains, the experiences are completely different. perhaps driving around a track in a $36,000.00 modded out retro car will give someone the same or more pleasures as pulling up to a four seasons in a prestigeous automobile that hints at your life success and sophistication.
my oldsmobile cutlass 96' is special to me
The name is Brown. Mark Brown.
Yeah, that works, I should get one!
This Aston or the 997 Carrera S?
im sorry, but yellow and red on an aston? pls...
nice video though. i think i saw an 06 or 07 vantage at the aston martin dealership for $56k. decent deal imo
Nothing wrong with being James Bond lol
cool
"Your not James Bond, Im not James Bond, but this is a beautiful car" FTW
you guys are great, some of the best reviewers on the internet if you ask me. dont pay attention to the bullshitters, they're just jealous that they cant drive sick cars all day long
lol but lets be honest, anyone who could responsibly afford a $140k exotic car wouldnt be spending time on youtube arguing for a trans am.... sometimes its not so much about one proving a point to others, but trying desperately to reassure ones self :)
Jacques Woo not true at all
I really do not understand why all the reviewers hate the key. Whats so wrong? It's like all keys, you put it in, put your foot on the clutch and the dam thing starts. big woop. If anything the key is awesome, it's made of crystal or whatever. I think the key is badass.
Exotics, are not about what 'other' people think. Its not about YOU... or a ton of STRANGERS that I will never meet. As I'm an inventor and product designer for my own projects, I'm obsessed with mechanics, user experience and the 'look' I 'LOVE' great design, but I only see the car for 15 seconds when walking toward it. I DO spend over an hour a day minimum inside the interior. The fit and finish matters to me. And I love the FEEL l of a great handling, but smooth, driving car. And I love when I get on the on-ramp to the highway or pass a car, for the car to GO! My car isn't for 'other' people, but for me. Its not balls out, death race 2000 in-between lights, and lose my license, but just for me - so 2/10ths of a second 0-60 faster/slower, or what ANYONE thinks... doesn't MATTER. I didn't pay for other people's thumbs up or down - only mine. If you do like my car, by all means take a look - then go on about living YOUR life. I'll live mine.
Well put.
The steering wheel is on the wrong side!!.🤣🤣
03:50 who the fuck put them alloys on it?
Looks like someone stole the pen out of the center dash :P
I wouldn't even care if this car has 200hp.
This car sounds it best at 3000rpm in 2nd gear with fuse 22 removed.
Posing speed.
@PiorunPL Yeah well, Aston Martin is still very much with us so there are people that understand the appeal of not owning the best logical performance car.
I repeat my question: have you actually driven a V8V? If you had, you would know that it's about a lot more than just speed.
Your Firebird could have drag slicks and it wouldn't matter- overpowered muscle cars simply do not impress me. Probably explains why I have a Porsche, not a Corvette ZR1 (which, incidentally, would have been around 40k cheaper).
(and no, 'no skidding' does not mean 'good handling')
Looks great in yellow?? Bwuahahaha. The grey is beyond perfect. In grey this car stays timeless and will always be a handsome Aston Martin, even in 50 years time. Yellow with black wheels? Get a grip.
Yes Aston is making bright colors but it doesn't mean you should buy one. If your driving a bright orange vanquish it doesn't say look at me I'm special it says I just won the lottery and have no since of style. You shouldn't even put red calipers on an aston it's just tacky.
I always thought first posts were lame, but now that im here, I understand. First.
If you want some cold, clinical, soulless & highly technical piece of driving machine---> get the r8. If you want class, style, emotions, superiority and ,,the special feeling just by sitting in it''---> get the aston. p.s. opinion by a german ;)
