- In this full body yin yoga class, deep and intense stretching postures are held for 4 minutes each with minimal instruction and beautiful background music to allow for a meditative and introspective experience. This class is perfect to increase flexibility and release tension from the body and mind. You will need two yoga blocks, or a firm cushion or two to use as a substitute.

Hi, I'm Devi. Twenty years ago I was an addict with depression, anxiety and severe body pain. I was drawn to yoga for healing and recovery, but I kept finding myself in classes that increased my stress and insecurity with dogmatic alignment rules meant for people with very different bodies than mine.
I almost quit until I discovered the intuitive practice of Yin Yoga. With Yin, I learned to follow my instincts to connect with a deep well of inner resources for healing and recovery. Now almost 50, I’m devoted to sharing this approach to help others.
In 2003, soon after I began teaching yoga, I founded Tucson Yoga Studio and directed a staff of 10 teachers with a full schedule of Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin Yoga classes. We served over 20,000 students a year and we were Tucson's favorite yoga studio for many years.
I sold Tucson Yoga in 2012 and relocated to the San Francisco Bay area where I entered into extensive studies with Paul Grilley. I joined MC Yogi and Amanda Giacomini at Point Reyes Yoga as studio manager and director of the studio’s Yin Yoga Teacher Training program. I’ve now trained and certified over 200 yin yoga teachers since 2015.
Paul Grilley’s influence runs deep in my teachings. I was among the first Yin Yoga teachers that he certified at the 500 hour level in 2013, and I carry forth his life-changing approach to yoga alignment. I’m also greatly inspired by my meditation instructor Lorin Roche who is the author and translator of the Radiance Sutras.
After 20 years of teaching in-person and managing yoga studios, I'm now delighted to be doing all my teaching online, where I've been able to share yin and yang yoga with a global community of students and friends.
When not doing yoga you'll find me dancing, hiking and swimming naked near my home in Southern California.

🩵 what a beautiful sequence of poses in deep meditation. Finding that shoelace pose works better for me than Square pose. seems as though my glutes are super tight and my right knee not painful when doing the shoelace pose. Restful as always after a day of gentle hiking. 🙏 💙💜

Very nice practice. I love this longer holds and rebounds in between,. I also find one hour such a good time for a practice.
But I am a bit confused over the equalisation/exchangeable (English is not my first language) between spinx/seal and saddle pose. I find these poses have very different effects. Seal giving a great sensation in the lower back, and saddle pose being just a smaller backbend but giving a great sensation in the quads - especially if you go the whole way down as I like to do - and being so beneficial for the knees. I had bad pain in one of my knees a few years ago but after practicing full saddle for a while it disappeared. Nothing that a seal would achieved.
These poses are all in the same archetype in the functional approach to yin yoga, which is Paul Grilley’s system, and the same system that I teach in my 50 hour yoga teacher training. Many yogis feel the same as you, in that there is really no great replacement for saddle pose - however when I teach saddle pose on video, I really need to offer alternatives, because if I don’t people may hurt themselves. Sphinx and seal are the easiest things to demonstrate quickly without getting into a laborious explanation of modifications and alternatives. The saddle part of this sequence is the main reason this video is labeled as intermediate.
