    Mayfield should be EF5. I dispute this rating. Buildings blown completely off their foundations and foundations wiped clean of debris.

      Yeah! I agree!

      Actually the buildings were not well built at all, if they were constructed a bit better I would agree, but because of it I need to disagree.

      Yes, that kind of damage is suited for a high end EF4 rating

      Those houses were built in the 1800's. Those weren't sturdy structures as they became weaker over time.

      Just cuz it's wiped clean don't mean it's an ef5 lol. It depends on the construction,how well anchored it is to the foundations etc. I'm pretty sure the nws knows alot more than we do on rating tornadoes plus they had the one and only Tim Marshall there and if ANYONE knows what they're doing it's Tim!

    The mayfield tornado looks so impressive on radar

    Excellent video. It seems all of the strong tornadoes from last year were in the south east.

    1:25 I was about 5 miles south of where this tornado hit, and where it destroyed one of the car dealer buildings. The building was deemed a total loss and are currently in the process of building a new one

    Fun fact, on 12/10 I originally chased southeast Missouri but rushed back north when I saw embedded supercells beelining for my house near St. Louis. "Accidentally" chased the Defiance EF3 and pulled over on that first exit ramp south of the river (2:05) thinking it would pass a mile or two in front of me, but I zero-metered the outer circulation instead LMAO

    I had some bad luck this year lol, I was in Bensalem, traveled through mayfield the day of the monster, worked in Mullica Hill right after the storm there

    I’d like to see all EF5 tornados on radar to look for commonalities. Are most from LP, classic or HP, what does EF5 strength look like on velocity. I’d think blue/yellows typically

  • @angrydragon4574
    @angrydragon4574 Před 2 lety

    A lot of these radar velocities indicate that many of these EF-3s were high-end EF-4s to EF-5s. Good thing they weren't though.

      Sawyerville certainly was pushing or exceeding 200mph, but it didn’t impact anything directly at peak strength.

    Its crazy to me how no one talks about the bowling green tornado that happened the same day as the mayfield. If that bowling green tornado happened in any other day, that wouldve been the main tornado everyone talks about. It just sucks that since there was a much worse tornado that occured that day wit 58 fatalities, the bowling green tornado is made obsolete evem with 17 fatalities.
