After getting the call from FWRD to design a couture gown for model Duckie Thot to wear to the amfAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival, Sami Miro's immediate response was "absolutely". She had five days to create her first couture gown. From sourcing vintage and deadstock fabrics to creating the design, making a pattern, and finalizing the look, the pressure was on for Sami to have everything ready before the big day. As an emerging designer, Sami Miro's main goal was not only to debut her first couture design, but to stay true to the ethos of her eco-conscious brand and disrupt the traditional world of couture by doing things her own way.
