    2. It has comfortable ergonomics.

I respect your opinion but mine is different! :) The thing is so f:ing fun on twisty roads because the gears are very short in a way that happens to match the speed limits and the flow of tight roads around here pretty well so that you can actually shift through the gears legally(ish), and in a way that feels just right and satisfying. The power is fun, not terrifying and SILKY SMOOTH in the power band. Not loud but has a nice sounding beefy intake roar and backfires off throttle.

    • @sleeper.simulant7327
      @sleeper.simulant7327 Před 4 dny +1

      There’s nothing wrong with the CBR500R objectively. But when it comes to fun, the Ninja 400 is just a little more exciting, engine rev’s harder, flicks in better, handles better, and feels (and is) significantly lighter, for less money. Basically you could have spent less money for more fun. I rode a Ninja 400 back to back with a 500 and wished I bought the Ninja… I have a Z900 now, which he also says doesn’t do much for him. Riding back to back with a brand new XSR900 I found the Z900 to be a little more aggressive in terms of seating position, leaned forward and tucked ergonomically (which I prefer) and found the Z900 to not only be smoother, but it feels stronger just about everywhere in the RPM range. And doing pulls with the XSR (rider and I are only 5 lbs difference, I’m heavier), the Z900 is quicker in a straight line in rolling starts. The XSR feels more manic but more flickable, the Z900 more stable. I went with the Z900 cause I got a used 2022 for a killer deal, and was able to pay cash so no payment.

    But... That 500cc engine is bulletproof... Those engines can make easilly 200.000 kms. And the CBR is more substancial, better built, the 2024 model has a tft dash.. and is very good looking. You pay more when you buy it new but you will save money in the long run.

    Glad to see the Ducati Diavel get a Yammie respect shout out. That is my current dream bike. I have a MT07 as my first bike. My riding style isn't about thrills and adrenaline. I'm more into the open air, freedom cruising, but I DO want power for occasional fun acceleration on roads and on ramps. I also want highway power and the ability overtake when at speed. Torque to accelerate out of emergency situations is also a desire of mine. So the MT07 has been very easy for me as my first bike. The power is manageable if you are sane and just grow into it. The Ducati Diavel 1260S is the my dream second bike. Full cruiser riding style and comfortable seat. Better for 2up with my wife. It looks amazingly futuristic as if it was designed for Cyberpunk 2077 and the power it has seems perfect for my needs. The entire muscle cruiser category really appeals to me. I like the HD Sporster S for the same reason. It's reliability issues have spooked me though and the Ducati is better for 2up anyway.

      @masterblaster5392 they do, but it's well documented as to why, and the aftermarket cures it. Bought my streetbob with 16,000 miles on it, and knew right away that it needed new engine mounts. Did that, then added a set of braces akin to watt's links to eliminate unwanted movement altogether, because the swingarm pivot is on the rear of the transmission, not the frame. Cruiser comfort design that too many people don't maintain properly, leading to the deathwobble.

It can do far more than I'm capeable of as a beginner and the bike has a lot to teach me still. When it's time I will upgrade to a buel hammerhead or a zx6r or some other faster sports bike. If kawasaki made a ninja that was still ~400lbs but had a triple cylinder 750-900cc and had the ergos of a sport tourer like the ninja 650, I'd buy that in a second. I don't really need the ergo's of a supersport as a 34 year old. I like the option of riding upright or tucking. I'm 5'4'' and 140lbs. I don't fit all that well on supersports with clipons with my tiny little T-Rex arms, I have to lay down on the fuel tank. If the ninja 1000sx was closer to 400lbs and had a 1'' lower seat, it would be my next bike...

    The CBR500R and CBR650R aren't 'proper' CBRs, instead they are road bikes in drag. The 600 and 900 Hornets [599 nad 919 in the 'states] were CBRs that were retuned for road rather than track and are good bikes.
    I bought a CB500X in 2015 and despite being a 'Honda Man' all my riding life since '86 the poor build quality and lack of help sorting it from teh dealer or Honda has ensured that I will never buy a new Honda. I have a 2003 CB500 [which I understand was never availabe in the US] and 2006 900 Hornet which has well over 100 000 miles on it and both are still going strong.
    As for ADV bikes, if you aren't capacity or horsepower chasing then the Himalayan 411 is a good bet. Well made [unless you get a really early one], comfortable, light, and extraordinarily good value - I could have bought two for the price of my Tracer 9 - and easlily capable of going off road.
    There are some bikes I wouldn't chose to own - sportsbikes, big capacity cruisers, scooters and electric bikes. But if it came to one of them or not riding I would have one of them.

    The only motorcycle I do not like are 300 cc and below (except if it a cross bike ther I want a minimum of 250).
