    Sorry, but this is a RTFM moment. Its possible to turn off all overlays etc on the HDMI out. Under "Assistance Functions" you can turn of each option like focus peaking to be displayed on the HDMI out. You can chose exactly what is and isnt output. Turn them all off and BOOM clean HDMI Feed. Clearly not as straight forward is one button, but im sure a lot of people like the option to control exactly what is output and not. Cool to hear youll be back making more videos on CZcams.

    In addition to the HDMI emulators I suggested, to get a clean HDMI feed from a Canon C300 Mark II cinema camera:
    1. Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the camera. Ensure that the other end is connected to the device you are using to capture the feed, such as a monitor, recorder, or computer.
    2. Turn on the camera and access the menu settings by pressing the MENU button.
    3. Navigate to the "Setup" menu, which is represented by a wrench icon.
    4. In the "Setup" menu, go to the "Output Config" option.
    5. Within the "Output Config" menu, select the "HDMI" option.
    6. In the "HDMI" menu, you will find various settings related to the HDMI output. Here are some important settings to adjust:
    a. "Output Resolution": Choose the desired resolution for the HDMI output. Select the resolution that matches the capabilities of your capture device.
    b. "1080p 1:54 /720p Output": Set this option based on the requirements of your capture device. If your device supports 1080i, select "1080i." If it supports only 720p, select "720p."
    c. "Output Display": Choose whether you want to display the camera's LCD information on the HDMI output or have a clean feed without any overlays. Select "Off" for a clean feed.
    d. "Time Code": Decide whether you want to include the camera's timecode in the HDMI output. If you want a clean feed, select "Off."
    e. "HDMI Rec Control": This option determines whether you want to control the recording start/stop function of an external device connected via HDMI. Choose the appropriate setting based on your requirements.
    7. Once you have adjusted the necessary settings, exit the menu by pressing the MENU button.
    You should now have a clean HDMI feed from your Canon C300 Mark II cinema camera, without any overlays or unnecessary information.
    Note: The specific menu options and layout may vary slightly depending on the firmware version of your camera.

    I have 2 C300 MK II and 2 C300 MK I Cameras, and I love them. It took a while to learn the flexibility and the build between them. Recently I realized I had to find common ground between Davinci Resolve (My NLE) and the Cameras. For instance, starting to use the color space transform tool in Davinci helps manage the Canon Log recordings and improves your grade. Overall it took a while to get the cameras into my workflow. It was definitely worth the patience.

    I guess you could have used the SDI out and one of those cheap SDI to HDMI converters from Blackmagic.

    Canon C300 Mark II has a super 35 sensor and it shoots 4K 30 FPS, Full HD 60 FPS and for a 2x crop it does 120 FPS. Indeed, it has an annoying issue regarding HDMI resolution output. It works well within a set of specific monitors that you can only buy from canon.

    Was there something that precluded an SDI to HDMI converter box? They're about $70 for the black magic design one.

    Hey Nick, if you’re looking for an unobtrusive light, I’d say just get something small but bright enough to bounce off a wall. That way it’s plenty soft without needing any large diffusion.

    Nest scenes in OBS. If you have a scene for your camera, you can nest that scene in all your scenes where you need the camera. Then you can hide or unhide the nested camera scene with hotkeys, independently of which nest scenes you are on. You can put very complicated transitions in the nested scene and it will appear the same in every scene.

    Try an AJA U-tap 3.0 will work well with the HDMI out.

    I've been trying to find more info on this subject. I really trust you as a content creator, however hopefully you understand that a sample size of 1 wouldn't be considered due diligence when seeking out solutions. I've been bouncing back and forth between the C200 and 300 m-ii. This my hangup because it will be one of the primary uses. I just can't get onboard with no 10 bit for all the other work, so leaning heavily toward the 300. Question: Have you tried the Black Magic or other brands' SDI>HDMI converters? If so, how did that do? If not, why not? Is there a deal-killer reason for not trying that method? Thanks.

    I have an Elgato Keylight for my desk Nick! I actually personally like it a lot to keep my desk setup very clean. I do also use BG and edge lighting to help for my videos. Here’s an example of what my setup looks like on camera: czcams.com/video/rMWGBqJe15E/video.html

      Settings btw are my GH5 with a 12mm lens at F/2 and iso 800 usually (shutter is 180 degrees) and my elgato Keylight I usually keep only at 12-15% brightness

      @@ampsonic my edge light is an RX8TD flexible LED panel, which I have clamped to my dresser to the screen right off camera, and since it’s bicolor I can set it to be tungsten or neutral white, I have my Kasa Smart light bulbs in my practical lamps set to that green tint, and lately I use another daylight Falcon eyes flex led on screen left to fill in the bg so it’s not complete shadow, and occasionally a small rgb light set to 2800K behind my tv monitor for some accent

    you can absolutely control just about every aspect of the camera and its functions. Should prob read up on the settings before creating a video about it with false information! Sorry, not trying to troll here, just provide accurate info.
    As for the Atomos thing, that's capturing a 4K, or 2K if you choose, RAW output. So its bypassing any internal camera noise suppression and other lil tricks which make the itnernal codecs more efficient. You have to adapt the way you shoot to get a cleaner signal. Big one being, lower your ISO from native 800 and shoot much lower to reduce the noise. Recording to ProRes via Atomos is nice, especially for editing, but your really better off using a recorder to record RAW. Personally, I find the internal codec to be a much better picture than recording to ProRes 422 or 422 HQ.
