We've all done things that didn't go as well as planned. Working on cars is never easy! Great video.
Thanks, Art
I appreciate the offer, but that doesnt even make sense beother
this, every car upgrade / repair you do expect 2 to 3 extra projects with it :P. also dont go speeding around to much after dumping all that coolant! nice car for sure
"Unnecessarily heavy" I felt that.
Funny story, put mudflaps on my RSX maybe 5 years ago. First 3 went on in minutes. On the last one, the previous owner rigged some awful metal thing that rusted and bound to the factory bolt on the wheel well. Took at least 1 full hour to snap that bolt in half because it was so small! Things like this happen all the time. Great video man!
Ugh. Yup, it only gets more complex, the more things I try to do lol
dont feel bad about taking long on an install. Just recently changed my CV axles on my RSX and i got stuck on one of the washers that didnt let the axle seat properly. Worked from like 5pm to 1am and couldnt fix it and it spit out the trans fluid 3 times. Got super frustrated but researching more and taking my time definitely helped.
Holy shit brother
@@Camhill182 its good as new now so it all works out. Also got my hondata and started tuning my Type R 😄
Sounds so good ! It’s frustrating and sucks Spending hours on an install but with an end result like this it totally pays off.... 👍
Ever since I started driving, I always get nervous when it comes to boosting a car with jumper cables. I could totally relate to your nervousness with batteries.
I thought the pins were Acuity condoms at first, lolol
So did I
Looked like a headache but worth it after you're done! It took me and my friend about 3-4 hours to install the MAPerformance exhaust on my 10th gen and it wasn't fun but definitely worth it. Then I had to get back under the car two weeks later because the clamp came off so I tightened that thing as hard as I could
Yo oooooooo I live in Tracy going to UTI in sac
Sounds like a screamer, you can tell that engine is really healthy! Can’t wait to see the progress
Love that sound 11:34 great job on the video as always.
I originally wanted to go supercharger but I learned that alot of 9th gens who go super later go turbo. After researching the turbo kits for our car, I learned that they are bolt-ons and have no need of cutting or welding. BUT, the transmission can be destroyed if you make more than 300 TQ to the wheels. If you want to reach the 400s, you gotta upgrade the transmission, which is expensive.
I have a PRL kit - 355/320 are my numbers. If you are careful and don't launch the car the trans will be just fine.
yep. thats why people stay around 500hp stock because of that.
@@Ehren1337 stock block can go 650 might as well
@@kennedywrightt sure if you can keep the torque low not to break stock trans.
@@Ehren1337 use a 9th gen trans, they are stronger.
Sounds good through both GoPro and iPhone mics.
Also, nice Throtl gloves! I should grab some and get in on that e92 giveaway...
Definitely recommend a turbo setup. Stock trans/engine will be fine as long as the tune is setup properly and you dont go crazy on the amount of boost 💪🏽
Next year!
@@matsmith5937 tune and boost lvl will determine whether the trans breaks or not
@@matsmith5937 and the tq is based off the tune and boost level....so like I said, that will be the determining factor 💁🏽♂️
What tune do you use? After i install mine my cel came on with p0171 i replace everything now im to the point where i need a tune
Turbo would be sick. Love all the noises too. Keep it up. Intake sounds good btw.
Just bought ktuner to tune my 18 si sedan. Thx for the vids man. Hope to get the phearable tune as well soon then do the rest of the bolt ons
Where did you buy the ktuner from?
If you get the RDX 410cc injectors be sure to buy real ones. There are a lot of knock offs floating around out there with an inferior spray pattern. Also, be sure to get a 3” catless Downpipe for the best gains Cam, along with your rear mm. Lastly a 2.75 to 3” catback flows best, and keep your eyes peeled for an RBC manifold.
I love acuity parts! & the 4K looks so good! I need to start using my phone in 4K ❤️ dp is gunna sound juicy!
Those Kraftwerks supercharger kits look pretty nice. @LHT Performance puts those on their s2000s and it looks like they perform awesome.
Don't be afraid of working on your car. Check videos online, ask in forums. Don't give up!
it took me 7 hours to just remove the fog light covers and install fog lights and their housings. That's with an extra pair of hands!
hahhahahaa
'Bolt cracking loose'. That my friend is the sound of liberation in Canada.
I honestly thing that intake is louder than my K&N intake which is much closer to me.
Don’t stress it man we have all started somewhere! I started doing CAI on my civic and doing stupid simple stuff on my buddies cars. CZcams helps tremendously and the more you attempt stuff out of your comfort zone the more your gonna learn it always helps to have a buddy around to help out. When I turned 17 my parents got me the craftsman mechanics tool set that I still use to this day. Don’t feel embarrassed that shit takes 3x as long to do installs just embrace it and keep learning because that’s what it’s all about! The satisfaction working on cars gives you after you install stuff all by yourself is defiantly most rewarding
Well said brother
Yo Cam, this is Brandon (changed my name). That was a lot of work for an intake. I had the K&N typhoon (short ram) on my 9th gen and loved it. I wonder if there is a big enough difference between a cold air and short ram to justify all the extra work. Turbo gives you more customization but also can cause more problems.
I cant say it was worth it yet, but it does sound really good. The install difficulty was just... unnecessary. I just dont like short rams because they’re hot air intakes, and the 100 degree temps here in the summer dont help. So I had to do a cold air
The big difference between your typhoon and the acuity is the diameter of the tubing. Its been tested that all intakes that are smaller than 3.5 inches would produce power equal or less than stock. The acuity is 3.5 inches and will make more power than stock. As for the difference between the cold air and short ram is that in the 9th gen platform, short rams are super easy to heat soak. Many people who get short rams either removed them and go back to stock or go cold air intake. Short rams WILL make more power than stock if they are 3.5 inches, BUT they would lose all their gains the moment your hood closes. Plus drivability will suffer due to the heatsoak.
@@gmawesome1 hey I know it’s been a while since you said this but Do you know how good the short rams are with a hood that has vents such as a carbon fiber hood with vents
Highly recommend harbor freight 301 mechanic tool set. That’s what I used as a starter kit and still using in the shop today. Have pretty much all the sockets you’ll need to do most common job on cars. For $160 ish with coupons. Can’t beat it.
I just did this today. Took 8 hours lol. The most stressful thing I've ever done so far. Close 2nd is the short shifter kit
You checked the wrong side of the stock filter to see if it's clean. That side is always clean. Check the bottom where it catches everything.
Also, I just installed the K&N Typhoon this week and it only took me like 2 hours. Nothing to relocate and my filter won't get full of water like the Acuity will down there. I'm on the same level of experience too, so.
How did you not get a check emissions light? I installed a skunk2 CAI and I got the light right after
Don’t worry men just let go the nerve and feel comfortable and do the work is easy men
Best intake for the 9th gens easily, I have it for my RBC and it's insane!
Before the acuity came out, I saw that the skunk2 was the best, but Acuity spent a lot of time and research to develop this intake. Its been proven to be the best!
@@Camhill182 very true, with my setup I made 232hp 188tq with the acuity intake, now I'm doing a fully built k20/24 pistons rods cams etc, my goal 300hp hopefully...let's get it...
Holy shit! Send me some videos on instagram of it!
@@Camhill182 I just message you
@@Camhill182 did you see my message bro ?
you do not have to remove the coolant hose... its 8mm bolts that hold down the power cables. just pop off the fuse box cover take the bots off and then feed through the hose and put it back together. done in 3 min and no coolant lost.
Outta curiosity, how much did the e-tune cost you?
It's always the things you think will be easy that give you problems (speaking from experience) lol. By the way dude, where did you get the t shirt?
I got it at Tilly's about a year ago
12v's wont kill ya brother maybe wake you up a litte..rememeber if the circuit isnt complete there is no power flow.. also hope you tuned it
Lol. After Viv and I get some sushi. Go get that meal after some hard work my friend.
We never even got it on that day, we got it the day after and I got sick ☹️
I don’t comment a lot but I really do enjoy your content my dude. Just finished up installing an Invidia N1 exhaust on my 2017 Civic Coupe
I appreciate it! And wow, that must be loud!
my fender liner also left my recently installed intake exposed the same day, what a shame.
He ate the red-light lol
What tune did you run on it? I have Hondata.
what’s better acuity or skunk2 looking to get a air intake soon
Love the content
By chance do you need to be tuned to run the intake?
Charlie cameo @ 6:34
Bro that happen to me lmao 😂😂
Im going to turbo my 9th gen ..more power in the long run ..a supercharger will only go so far and its more expensive usually
The only issue with going turbo on your 9th gen if you live in Cali is going to be smog. The work to revert back to stock from a turbo setup to pass smog is pretty difficult for a person that doesn't have too much experience in comparison to a super charger setup.
I registered it in Maine
@@Camhill182 that has to be the smartest thing I've heard haha. I live in Central Cali and didn't wanna deal with the turbo setup cause of smog.
Thinking about getting this CAI, how do you deal with the rain, I’m also in Cali. Couple friends of mine have different CAI and they warned me about the rain getting sucked into the engine.
Wow, that was so much damn work for just an intake.
Followed steps and my h Check engine light turned on :(
Is there a primary reason to go Acuity over K&N? I know the pipe is shorter but it doesn't require battery removal or bumper removal.
Acuity is the best cold air intake on the market for this car. K&N is a hot air intake
Please don’t ever drive your car without a front bumper cover because that is how you lose fender liners. Great video and that is how you learn. At least you didn’t pay someone to do it. You take more pride when you do it yourself.
Mannn I miss the 9th gen civic videos!
No batteries on cement...my dad and ex husband helped me wrench on cars, you did fine
Definitely was about to say the same thing good call
I know it’s a long shot but any way you’re selling the air intake tube from throttle body to the air filter box, and the air filter box? I also need the coolant lines with the line from valve to the air intake tube
This car has been gone for a long time
Bro just turbo the 9th gen. I have one and going full bolt ons is literally not worth the money. Just get a PRL stage 2 turbo kit and if you don’t run it at high boost you can still run it safe.
Man that car sounds good....
I have this same intake and I have no problems with it after a year. Im curious to see what you would make to the wheels after the tune. My Fb6 makes 200 to the wheels and I live in Texas!
Since it's CAI about 7 whp
Great video brother.. I have a set of Acuity radiator hoses that are still in the box new. Lmk if you want them. Ill donate them to you
Is this faster than your new civic???
Oh god no! My 10th gen would spank my 9th right now
@@Camhill182 Get a 3 inch downpipe and a retune, I want to see what a FBO 9th gen (excluding RBC) can do against a FBO 10th gen.
Always asking shit for Christmas 😂
What happened to the fendrr liner? Did you reinstall it or does it get removed because of the CAI?
I busted the clips when taking it off and had to go to autozone to get new clips to put the fender liner back on
The front bumper doesn't need to come off. Haha. 25 min job.
“It needs coolant.” *drives around for half hour* lol
I barely drained any. It was fine
How warranty friendly is the hondata or ktuner? Really have been putting it off because of my extended warranty.
They will both void your warranty the second you flash it to your car
Do you need a tune after installing any cold air intake?
On the 9th Gen, you dont need a tune for some intakes. For most, you do
@Camhill182 Bro, thanks for the reply. Love your channel. I wish i could afford a Type R. Maybe when i start my own YT channel i can quit my boring day job. I am trying to buy my first Civic Si and man it's so freakin hard to find a Civic that's not all beat up. I know I want a 9th gen because I have a 3 year old daughter and I'm not a teenager so I would like a better interior than the 8th gen.
My emissions light is on does anyone know what to do
you need to get the car tuned
Wait. 9th Gen Civic Si's in the US didn't come with a touch screen?
It was an option in 2012 and 2013, but then a standard feature in 2014-15
that macbook pro sitting on the top of the engine got me nervous
Take the bmt watch off, it’s hurting my eyes
Never!
Hey I have a question! Why did you tune then add all the bolt ons ?
Because my tuner is adjusting as we go
finally a video!
I post videos every other day!
Damn you look crisp as hell
I need a California legal cold air intake for my 2016 Honda Civic LX. Anyone have suggestions?
i heard Mishimoto has a CARB legal intake
If your thinking of superchargers also check out MercRacing. There's a few guys running the tvs1900 on stock 9th gens making close to 500hp. Check out reeses cars and cgnl evolved here on you tube
i dont see the video in 4k. Maybe your iphone settings were not on 4k or when you edited or uploaded the video it downgraded. I had the same issues with some of my videos. hope this helps and great video. your last video with the 10th gen was cool. With lighter forged wheels you would have gapped him a lot more.
I messed up when creating the project in Final Cut Pro
That 9th Gen smoked that 10th Gen on the last video 😂 I got that flex fuel TSP Stage 2 and I’m local here in Sac @ Cameron Hill anytime you want to run so I can make it right for the 10th Gen community LOL
Ive made it right for the 10th gen community plenty of times
@@Camhill182 you good man, anytime you want to do a review hit me up 🤙🏼 I got you
Thanks!
say i buy a ktuner v2 for my car. can my friend use it as well for his csr so he can save the money?
You cant use it at the same time
@@Camhill182 so youre saying he can use it too after i am finished with it ?
@@davidchen574 yes. You’ll have to unlock it from your car so he can use it on his
My dad told me never to put a battery on the cement
Hm. What is the reasoning?
@@Camhill182 I heard that it messes up the battery in some way. Probably in the long run
Still early I guess, I'll come back to check out the 4k lol
Don’t you need to reprogram the ECU
I think you’re new to my channel. Ive been getting tuned by Yosh_tuned
Damn bro, bouncing it off the limiter isn't good for it
Estaría bien que en tus vídeos salieran los subtítulos en español
yo lo investigaré
One question why is you gas light always on lol
I am a very disorganized person
Cameron Hill lol 😂 no you cool I’m just wondering what’s going on lol. I was told once that if people wait to the last minute to put gas it can messed up your injectors but IDK.
Haha yea i definitely dont let it get that low, but I have my bad moments here and there
Cameron Hill yeah I feel you bro I had to let it get that low a couple of times because of no money to fill her up. Once I had to push my car to the gas station. That’s not fun hahahaha
First maybe
If you planing to go turbo be ready to spend 10 thousand with a built transmission so you don’t brake anything 🤦🏻♂️
As long as tq isnt crazy on the low side, he'll be fine 🤙🏽
I have a type R
Race me Cameron
Negatory mr Molina. I’d be glad to review it though!
whahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahah LOOOOZZEEERRRRRR
Way to complicated intake. Could have gone short ram and been better instal.
But not as much power. Its a give and take
Hydrolock 101
Nah bro. Its sealed off on the bottom lol
Once he gets that fender back on he needs to drive in a lake to hydro lock.
ngl i was going to unsub but after you picked up your 9th gen, i can relate to the content again. #fb6
I would like a pen...me me
Ill send you one!
