kinda confused on the throttle body part where you disconnected the two hoses , do those ports just stay open ? never showed where to reconnect those hoses after
The ports on the throttle body are left exposed. The OEM hoses that were connected to those ports on the TB will not be reconnected to anything. They are removed with the breather tube altogether at 14:55. These parts are removed to install our coolant bypass tube and our valve cover breather hose for this intake setup. My buddy and I did the install yesterday and it took about 5 hours, but we didn’t see much info on the coolant lines coming off the throttle body and now my buddy doesn’t have heat, how can we fix it?
I realized my last reply could be confusing, so I wanted to clarify: Short-rams are consistently known to make less power than stock while increasing IATs. To make decent NA power on this platform, a free-flowing intake with access to cold air, away from the engine bay is a must-have (dyno sheets on the acuityinstruments.com Curl Control CAI product pages for reference). If this install is too much work, avoid short-rams and instead just install a free-er flowing air filter. It won't provide nearly the gains of the Curl Control intakes, but you won't lose power like you would with a short ram.
Is there a way too get the hardware for the intake install through the acuity site? Bought one off someone but not sure if all the hardware for install is there

But could I drive with something like this in the rain? I live in Arizona and we don't get much rain but at times we will get hit by some monsoon storms and flash floods. I've heard of the intakes CAI sucking water and causing hydro-lock. I don't drive my car too hard but I like to upgrade and have something fun that I call "mine". Is it very risky to do this, or would I be better off just going with a SRI instead of a CAI even though I won't get near the performance I would get with a CAI?
Thanks for your question. Any cold air intake that puts the filter down in the bumper will increase the risk of hydro locking. But if the intake is properly installed with the fender liner in place and you avoid any standing water that could submerge the front bumper in water, you won’t have any issues with hydro locking even during heavy rainfall. The only thing to be conscious of is standing water. We’ve also seen a few customers also run a hydro shield over our filter as well for added protection and peace of mind.

The stock manifold and rbc manifold couplers have very different shapes because the 2 manifolds orient the throttle body in very different directions. Unfortunatley a coupler for a stock manifold will not be able to reach the throttle body location of the rbc manifold. That said, you can purchase the couplers on their own, separate from the kit, if you want to change from a stock manifold to an rbc manifold.
Yeah, the two coolant hoses at the bottom of the throttle body. The removal is at 14:25. The coolant bypass hose gets installed, but at 17:20 ish, the throttle body coolant hoses are replaced already, and its hard to see where they are connected.
At 16:47, you can see that the bypass hose is actually connected to the throttle body. I think there was a mistake in the video at 14:25. It was corrected, but not addressed. (No big deal, great video.) Correct me if I'm wrong, but the bypass hose connects to the throttle body, and the original hose that connects the throttle body to the coolant mainline stays. You are just getting rid of the big loop that is connected to the valve breather tube. EDIT: Unless I'm mistaken, you never need to remove the bottom coolant hose on the throttle body.

These are for the Si's only, so unfortunately it won't work with the LX. Hard to say what intake is best for the LX. If you are not running a tuning solution like Hondata or KTuner with the intake, then it's likely not worth it. If you do wind up getting a tuning solution and need an intake, get a cold air and not a short ram. The short ram will just rob you of power due to the high IATs it will bring. Hope that helps. Any base map for a full 3.5" intake on a 9th Gen Si should be a good start, but the car will still require custom tuning work to get the AFRs correct and safe to drive regularly or at WOT.
These intakes require the car to be tuned before driving. You will need a Honda Flashpro or similar tuning device and for the car to be tuned by a professional. Some tuning services can be done online by sending datalogs to the tuner and having the tuner send subsequent tunes back to you for uploading. We do not recommend driving the car with this intake if you do not have it tuned for the intake as the engine will run far leaner than it should be allowed to.
Correctly installed and tuned, this should not throw any Check Engine Lights (CELs). Remember that to install it correctly, a KPro, Ktuner, or similar tuning solution is required and either a custom Speed-Density tune or at least a very accurate Speed-Density base map will be required.

Yup! Just make sure to get the kit with the correct coupler for the rbc. We have one for the rbc with a stock throttle body and another for the rbc with a zdx throttle body 👍🏻
I still have issue with the filter rubbing the fender liner and some of the chassis. I’ve had that bumper off so many times I can do it with my eyes closed now.
Reach out to us via the contact-us form on our site and request to speak with Todd about the issue. You may have a chassis with a slightly different sheet metal geometry in the filter area. I believe we may have a solution for you. :)

It the filter pushes my fender liner out past my bumper. I was hoping this vid had some details on how to adjust everything perfectly

@@manhhungle3224 Is it an Si with a K24 or a base model with the R-series engine? Acuity only has intakes for the K24-equipped Si's, not the R-series base models or K20C1-equipped R, unfortunately.
If it's an intake that places the filter in the engine bay, it will make considerably less power. Competing intakes that place the filter in the same location as this intake do fairly well, but this design was carefully refined to be the most power-producing intake available, and it's held the title for years now. There are some dyno charts from independent testing by RC Autoworks on the acuity site that compare it against a few competing designs.
Check the battery ground connection where it attaches to the plate and of course where it attaches to the battery. Also check your ECU connections, the MAF and maf extension harness connections at both ends, and the battery sensor extension connections at both ends. Does the car crank or do you simply not have power? What hondata base map is best to use for just a cold air intake? Would a Stage 1 Ktuner be good too? Im not familiar with tuning.
Any base map that accommodates a 3.5” CAI will work, but it’s best to get an ECU tune refined with a local tuner/dyno.

What would happen if you swapped to rbc but forgot to buy the coupler and have the coupler for the stock manifold?

Different throttle body locations, sizes, chassis shapes, mounting points, MAF sensors, you name it. The reasons are many.
You obviously know nothing about cars please don't try to mod yours you're just going to break things
Because it's not some cheep plug an play kit that fits everything. It's been engineered to fit this model of civic in particular
