    P0118 TOYOTA Description
    The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is used to detect the engine coolant temperature. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from the Engine Control Module (ECM). The modified signal returns to the ECM as the engine coolant temperature input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases as temperature increases.
    P0118 TOYOTA - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input
    P0118 TOYOTA Possible Causes
    What does this mean?
    a. Low engine coolant level
    b. Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor
    c. Faulty engine coolant thermostat
    d. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor harness is open or shorted
    e. Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical circuit poor connection
    How do I fix code P0118 TOYOTA?
    Check the "Possible Causes" listed above. Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector's pins.

    Hello friend, I put the original PCV and nothing changed. The strange thing is that the IAC and TPS were tested with a multimeter and the test went well, cleaning was done without being able to remove the IAC or the body that covers the valve (they are special screwdrivers it seems), but as I told you, it underwent special liquids for cleaning the IAC, a little black dirt came out of the IAC and TPS I don't suspect. For example, if I turn on air, I notice how the IAC corrects the ratenti (I remind you that it is at about 2000 rpm's and I can't lower it), if I turn on lights, beacons, etc. change corrects it at idle, if I accelerate I see it becomes even, both to raise or lower the rpm's, which tells me that TPS is fine. In other words, it confirms the tests that were done with a multimeter. Please enter your channel to see the topic of the temperature sensor. I ask you, does this car have a sensor to measure the coolant temperature that goes to the ECU and another sensor to turn on the fan? Because now I am going to try the temperature sensor issue and I don't know if it is one for all or two, because the fan turns on well and at temperature.

      Coolant ensures that your engine temperature remains stable to perform well in all climates. An added bonus of engine coolant is that it also prevents rust and the corrosion of metals (that are not iron or steel), in the radiator, engine and heater.
      How long does a coolant last in a car?
      Manufacturers suggest replacing the coolant periodically. It is recommended you change coolant after the first 210,000 km (140,000 miles) or 120 months, then every 30,000 km (20,000 miles) or 24 months.
      What happens if you never change coolant?
      The coolant can become more acidic over time and lose its rust-inhibiting properties, causing corrosion. Corrosion can damage the radiator, water pump, thermostat, radiator cap, hoses and other parts of the cooling system, as well as to the vehicle heater system. And that can cause a car engine to overheat.
      Which color coolant is best?
      Green coolant is the conventional coolant (Ethylene Glycol base) and is the most popularly used coolant. Red coolant typically has a base of Organic Acid Technology which is designed to be more suitable for aluminium radiators.

    Great tutoring video. Could you tell how much of coolant will spill out of the thermostat sensor housing if I will do replacement without the draining coolant.
    I am planning big job on Corolla 2009: replace water pump and serpentine belt, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, engine coolant pipe connector and after watching your video - coolant temperature sensor.
    My time is not allowing me to do everything in one day. I would like to replace coolant temperature sensor first and do all the rest next day. Is it okey after sensor replacement to drive a car 200 meters to my parking place without adding the coolant, and next day drain all coolant and do the rest of the job.
    I will appreciate your advice.

    • @YiannisPagonis
      @YiannisPagonis  Před měsícem +2

      If you drain nothing, you will lose likely at least one-third of your coolant in a big mess over the engine and accessories like the alternator. This can cause problems. Anyway, I wish you every success in what you are going to do with your Corolla

      @@YiannisPagonis Thank you for the advice. I thought it might drain not too much from the sensor hole, because its location on the top of the engine. But if it comes so much, I will not let the coolant ruin my alternator or other parts.
      In this case, I will have to drain all coolant and finish all my project in one day.

    • @YiannisPagonis
      @YiannisPagonis  Před 3 lety +3

      The reason is to keep it clean and in good condition because if the coolant temperature sensor goes bad it can send a false signal to the computer and throw off the fuel and timing calculations. It is not uncommon for the coolant temperature sensor to fail and send a permanently cold signal to the computer. ... This will reduce fuel economy, and may hinder engine performance.

      Can an Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor affect idle?
      A faulty Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor that always reads cold may cause the fuel control system to run rich, pollute and waste fuel. An Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor that always reads hot may cause cold driveability problems such as stalling, hesitation and rough idle.

    What is the coolant temperature sensor 🙁🙁🙁

      @YiannisPagonis  Před 2 lety +1

      Coolant temperature sensors are used by the fuel management system to detect the engine's operating temperature. Depending on the sensor information, the control unit adapts the injection time and firing angle to the operating conditions. The sensor is a temperature sensor with a negative temperature coefficient.
