  • The Coolant Temperature Sensor is used to measure the temperature of the engine coolant. The readings from this sensor are then feedback to the engine control unit (ECU). This data from the sensor is then used to adjust the fuel injection and ignition timing. On some vehicles, the sensor may be used to switch on the electronic cooling fans as well. The data may also be used to provide readings for a coolant temperature gauge on the dash.

I just change my engine coolant sensor few hours ago due to engine cut off while running.because of error reading, the fan did'nt work and making the engine getting hot, jerking, hasitation and lastly engine cut off.never think that engine coolant sensor can do that far

Bro first You should have to check sensor resistance before you change the sensor may be the problem is not sensor it self....and identify the error reading whether its sensor or not
