Promote the spirit afterlife we all pass on to. Like rechargeable batteries spirits seem to be. Some tiny, some big batteries. With more abilities attainable with more good food for thought and trying to help the living. Maybe we are to spirits like various interests like tv are to us. They can watch tune in to whoever where ever. Interact unknown to us. We give them something to do. Knowing they exist gives us something good to believe in. ;-) Thx for the many food for thought songs and performances, effects, videos, etc. :-)
Love this song! Also, very interesting intro to the song. Never knew about the connection between the moon and the murder rates... Well, Mr. Gabriel said it best himself. There is more than this...
Very cool musical structure, matching the lyrics. More importantly, there’s a spiritual aspect to this song. Just because we don’t see something or believe it if we’re faced with it, doesn’t mean it’s not there. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
I'm a big Peter Gabriel fan, but sorry, in this song he has strayed thematically into Jon Anderson territory, and Jon does it way better. Also, Peter looks like Dr. Evil in this gettup. The version of Here Comes the Flood from this show is perfect, however.
lots of studies have been done trying to find a correlation between lunar cycles and lots of things, there is nothing to support these ideas. peter gabriel is one of my favorite artists, but on that point he is simply wrong.
Peter Gabriel NEVER disappoints .... always brilliant !!! And his stage sets are always, always phenomenal !!!
I love Gabriel's music, I have a lot of his music in my household, I have never seen him live, but I am going to change that.
Outstanding song. He has art in his music. There the difference. He is a musical painter. The end of song full of noises is a wonder.
I woke up and the world outside was dark
All so quiet before the dawn
Opened up the door and walked outside
The ground was cold
I walked until I couldn't walk any more
To a place I'd never been
There was something stirring in the air
In front of me, I could see
More than this
More than this
So much more than this
There is something else there
When all that you had has all gone
And more than this
I stand
Feeling so connected
And I'm all there
Right next to you
It started when I saw the ship go down
I saw them struggle in the sea
And suddenly the picture disappears
In front of me
Now we're busy making all our busy plans
On foundations build to last
But nothing fades as fast as the future
And nothing clings like the past, until we can see
More than this
More than this
So much more than this
There is something out there
More than this
It's coming through
And more than this
I stand alone and so connected
And I'm all there
Right next to you
Oh then it's alright
When with every day another bit falls away
Oh but its still alright, alright, alright
And like words together we can make some sense
Much more than this
Way beyond imagination
Much more than this
Beyond the stars
With my head so full
So full of fractured pictures
And I'm all there
Right next to you
More than this
More than this
More than this
More than this
