Mazda 2 GT 115hp is a fantastic car, more fun to drive than an MX5.

Extremely good review of a brilliant car. Mazda love playing around with the specifications but basically it is the same car as it was in 2015. It was great then and it is great now. It’s a bit pricey when you compare with the Mazda 3 but that’s because of the high specs.

Thanks for a great review. I decided on the petrol with automatic transmission. Discovered that service costs are considerably less than the hybrid.

Glad it was helpful! That sounds like a very logical reason :)

An excellent review about a very underrated car. People seriously underestimate the Mazda 2. It seems like Mazda is underappreciated in the UK. I'm from Australia and although Mazda is popular - the subcompact car segment is dying.
I got my first Mazda 2 new in 2011 (auto; Neo trim). Loved that car. Traded it in when my husband gifted me the 2024 Mazda 2 (auto; GT trim) approximately 2 months ago.
It's taken me some time to get used to all the bells and whistles, and the accelerator felt strange to begin with - but now I love driving it.
I did consider other subcompact vehicles (Suzuki Swift, Toyota Yaris, Kia Picanto, Mazda CX-3, Kia Stonic, and Hyundai Venue) but nothing could beat the Mazda 2 for me.
I love Mazda's approach to tech, they are well built, capable (people underestimate the 2), look great, nice interiors, and have great driving dynamics.

You're totally right, Mazda is very much under appreciated over here. Thank you for sharing your experience.

‏‪I greet you from Algeria. I have a question: how do we know that the Mazda 2 has 75 hp from the outside?:39‬‏

I would go for the Hybdrid version always best to opt for the latest tech and save money however as its identical spec to the Yaris I would go for the Toyota as they are cheaper

The cars share not only identical specifications but are essentially the same. Mazda’s commitment to larger, more powerful engines led to the Mazda 2 hybrid, a rebadged version of the Toyota Yaris, as they adopted Toyota’s compact hybrid engines. This collaboration isn’t unprecedented; Mazda supplied the 2 to Toyota US in 2016, marketed as the Scion iA. The Mazda 2 Hybrid is produced by Toyota in Valenciennes, France, near the Belgian border.
