Why pull stupid shit like refusing maternity leave? Among other reasons why piss off the people who work for you for little to no gain, potentially giving them a reason to inform on you. Maternity leave is an expectation across most of the planet, it's certainly common enough in industries that fall on the wrong side of the law.

I am here exclusively for John Oliver, Fallon seems like an absolute sweetie pie, so it pains me to say I don't find him funny.
No one finds Fallon funny lmao, he's an impressionist at heart/ a sort of jack of all trades (but master of none), and is just fun to be around: he's a people person and its his energy and personality that's got him this far which is okay I think. I don't really get the constant comparison.
I’m not a huge fan of Fallon, but I was surprised by his deodorant name of “Gym” as a callback to the boss named Jim. That was quick and clever enough I almost missed it.
Jimmy is good at this job because he actually lets people tell their stories without interrupting except to clarify or laugh.
He's not funny, but he laughs, and you can see he genuinely enjoys having a conversation with his gests, so he lifts up the mood, and makes our funny Johnny guy even more funny.

No one is objectively funny as humor is by nature subjective, but I find him so. As hard as comedy is, everyone who makes it in that industry has some kind of talent, though there are objective standards for grading the quality of comedy, in terms of joke construction, set up and delivery, as well as originality. Some people are very skilled at playing to the lowest common denominator or exploiting a gimmick to it's full potential. I'm sure Oliver wouldn't consider himself highbrow as he's undeniably a fan of silly hijinks, but he's obviously most appealing to smarter audiences.
I feel like John americanizes his voice a bit so we can understand him but his full Brit imitations are so good

I'm not surprised that the character Eeyore is British. I can see how tea and scones help. As an American tea drinker, I love visiting England because of all the properly made tea.
