Glad my home Puerto Rico is getting some love!
I biked around Puerto Rico last year. I'm excited to fly around it virtually with this new update :)
I will check it out in the sim
I hope that they fix the landscape "loading". It really bothers me that the sim is loading parts when you´re directly above it...
I noticed that too.
There were few times when I was at the airport waiting for my flight and had couple of hours to kill, I played the Xcloud version on my phone + Xbox controller. It's pretty cool for discovery flying around without any objective. It ran OK, depending on the quality of the internet of course.
VR and AR are practically the same tech right now. The Quest 3 and even the Apple Vision pro are technically VR devices with AR capabilities. So I don't understand the worry that AR is taking anything away from VR, they go hand in hand.
Quality of AR sucks , thats why
@@basvh666 it depends on the used device and how it is utilized. Quest 3 has good rgb cameras with a good resolution and sharpness. I dont know how MSFS wants to use AR though ... VR seems to me the only valid option here.
meta's software is godawful, planning on selling my quest to get literally anything else
Hi Obsidian. I think you misheard the stream regarding the Nassau water masking bug. I clearly heard that Jorg said it should be fixed server side in a few days probably. Of course it could still take a couple of weeks be the inference is that it will be fixed considerably sooner than that.
It's hard to listen to Obsidian without mishearing what he says anyway.
Second, got the same impression from what Jörg said.
Maybe they should put frozen lakes in relation to the average temperature ... we sometimes have a temperature as low as -20°C in northern Sweden in November while there isn't much snow yet.
I'm still hoping for a snow coverage fix, which is mostly a problem in the summer, not so much during winter. Also, they already said a year ago that they were going to talk with Meteo Blue about the snow coverage data with nothing to show for it. Saying the very same thing one year later ... well ... let's just say I'm not holding my breath on that one. I wish they would just add a Snow On/Off toggle so we can fix what has been left unfixed for years now.
6:00 what about other stuff that I bought like GSX or the Fenix a320?
Thanks for keeping us up to date. 6:20 whats the region called there? Its beautiful and i id love to fly there^^. Thanks.
I don't know the area but that building may be a landmark, which if it is that would narrow it down a lot.
It's been asked before but I do wish flight simmers (not just Ant) would state the locations, even if it's just a list in the description.
Cheers for the update
Do you have any info on the Dune expansion that was revealed over half a year ago? I'm so excited for that one because it genuinely looked like a cool aircraft to fly in the sim
It should be released together with the movie next month
VR is a 100% must-have feature. No VR would be like stepping back 40 years to FS1.
Yes indeed, I would miss it so much flying with my Reverb G2 around my home erea. Hope it will be also supported in the MSFS 2024!
The only reason they would prioritize AR would be to push their own product.
Nothing beats VR if you have good hardware
Cant do it, dont like stuff on my head and face like that. I use tobii eye/head tracker, which helps though
Hmmm i dont need vr , i dont even own vr gear , but if you can only play the game that way yea, vr is needed indeed ;)
I tried tobii eye tracker but i got a horrible eyestrain due to the ir blasters so i stopped using it.
You managed to find the place where i live at 5:46 lol
Great helpful video as always, sorry but did you say that the products we've bought ie airports and aircraft for 2020 will be compatible with tests 2024 ?
Microsoft have previously said that most of what has been sold on the in game market place, will be compatible with the new 2024 edition.
You know now, that you can remove the white dot. : )
Always super content Mr. Ant.
Thanks bro for your video watermask Guadeloupe, Désirade, les Saintes, island very average, needs to be reviewed
I bought a Meta Quest 3 recently but wondering what it's like using it on this flight simulator. I haven't yet used it on this but afraid that I will be disappointed. Is it good or not? Anyone have any experience?
I have really struggled to download recent Sim and World Updates. My internet speed is very high and all other updates and downloads have been working fine in the hundreds of Mbps, but MSFS downloads are only reaching about 2 Mbps! So frustrating! I have been trying to download the Caribbean World Update for the last few days, and it's just not happening
love this watermasks
what whre the place you where flying in that video :)
I fly MSFS in chase, exterior modes only, never from inside the fuselage except to prep aircraft for flight. How does VR function in this user scenario?
I'm struggling to think what the point of VR would be if you fly only exterior modes.
I'm confused what version are we on now?
I think we are on sim update 14 and world update 15.
Your footage is top tier bro! I always hop on the sim after watching one of your vids! Bout to take a trip around the islands! 😎
Thanks and good video.,Hope they fix the MSFS 2020 Bahamas water mask because in some areas the water doesn't has coral reef.,I always use my settings Ultra and since MSFS 2020 release they downgraded the resolution and gound textures and the LOD is so bad that looks like fsx
I bought FS 2020..the big premium bundle cos I was so stoked they’d made it and wanted to support it. Can’t even remember how to get it though as I’ve never even had a pc that can run it so haven’t done so. One day I’ll be able to experience it maybe :)
Me too, i bought not the deluxe, but another one, I'm waiting to have a pc good enough to run it, but 2024 is a different game? You have to purchase it?
One of the bigger things missing are the mem allocation improvements in SU15 (backported from the work they did on FS2024): Sébastien said something about 2 orders of magnitude improvements; esp. on longer flights; which has the potential to remove a lot of shutters. Granted, The sim really runs beautifully for me except for the shutters on final.
Bugs and all, this sim still amazes me every time I fly it. And I fly it every day.
It is AMAZING!
I normally fly VR out of Gatwick Airport or Shoreham Airport with out any problems but since the last couple of updates it's become impossible in both my Q2 and Q3 headsets .But if I go to say Edinburgh or Glasgow everything is fine. In 2d no problems anywhere. What is going on.
Delete shader cache and rolling caches.
I thought Nassau in the Bahamas was looking different some other islands.
Are you using a mod to add rocks at the shores? Like in 6:47
You could add a fully functional ship sim addition to this title and it would be the best out there imo. Get a team together to develop it :)
Pretty sure one of the points made for "needing" FS2024 was "thinning out the client" because world updates etc had it grown a lot above original SSD space requirements. They said FS2024 would take care of that problem, so i would assume all world updates are just included and streamed alongside the ai/procedural generated stuff?
Yeah, but will we be able to set visibility properly?
I bet the world and city updates remain separate. Doing so likely gives them a lot of freedom to come back and further update those in 2024 which might back-port to 2020 as well. Plus the ability for people to reduce installation size by only loading regions they fly in.
Anyone know the anticipated release date for MSFS 2024?
I want to know when we're getting more information its 2024 let's go
Hope they make it possible to upgrade from 2020 to 2024
That's a shame..watermasking for Bahamas looked amazing before. Especially around Andros island. I was always i awe when flying around there and I've done A LOT of flying in that area.
I want to explore the bahamas in my pyjamas and see all those lamas … wait😮
The weirdest part for me is that I load myself up in the northeast somewhere right now and all the trees are green....
Yeah the seasons/weather fx need a lot of work.
Yep and there are loads of trees on Scottish islands where there are none.
@@travellingtom6091 yes same in the US in agricultural areas. Many fields that have crops in real life have trees in the game. It completely ruins the realistic feel in these agricultural areas.
Hopefully 24 includes more realistic flight dynamics, and shadows on your instrument panels that don’t oscillate when it’s sunny 🙄
yeh that's the biggest one for me, if they could get the flight model that's half as good as xplane then i would be happy. Also lighting, the lights in xplane are great at night so if msfs could do something with that too.
What exactly is so off on the flight model, especially on the one the C172 uses? The model itself is good - the configuration for different aircraft is the thing which will need work.
On shadows that's just the shadow maps scale. On PC you can set it to 8k resolution (8192) easily which turns them completely sharp (by editing the UserCfg.opt).
I'm mostly looking forward to ground and water handling improvements and the better multithreading.
@@deltak5457the 172 doesn’t fly like one at all. Performance doesn’t match either.
@@zq3yp That's one of the many opinions around, another one was that it's quite on par with XP12s C172 besides the missing nose down momentum when going to idle in flight if just weather presets with the same settings are used.
However I was not specifically talking about a single aircrafts feel or if it's using the same numbers as per POH, I'm talking about the core flight model which is only fully used on the C172 with CFD, the new prop dynamics, body compensation effects and a new physical wheel model. Everything else is basically tweaking and the environmental effects.
The core sims flight model itself is capable of simulating a somewhat (as we are still talking about a desktop sim) realistic sensation of flight - how realistic it will be and how close it is to a POH is up to the aircrafts designer.
@@MrAnthonyfrenchAs a real pilot, there's no notable difference and this argument is getting old. I've been flying real GA and sims for 22 years, both X-Plane and MSFS are adequate and comparable. Ground handling is different between the two, but neither are really good.
Why is frozen lake determined by snow depth and not temperature?
lol
Nice :0)
Did that sim support VR?
Maybe bridges should look like bridges.
Use MSFS 2010 for local flight.
I play the msfs 2020 in the Xcloud on my Xbox One and its great!, and because my internet connection is good with no data cap I dont feel like buying a Series S/X.
Each new sim year release could absorb the prior title year. With everything online now, why not? And then you could have a boot mode where, for nostalgia, one can fire up MSFS 1998, FSX, etc.. MSFS 2020, MSFS2024, MSFS2032 haha
I like MAFS 2021. Logical, not hard to navigate in 2020. [2024]
Has there been anything on the issue of controllers disconnecting during flights?
so when is SIM UPDATE 15?
I have really lost track of what is going on with this game haha. I'm just enjoying the current version to the fullest. I have never seen such a good looking game, I could play this for 10 years.
They're not stoping work on 2020 for 2024 because they're the same game but with a new name so we have to buy it again.
The 2020 addons work on 2024 because it's the same game and they're just going for the same model as Fifa and Call of Duty.
The world updates will be included in 2024 because... It's the same game.
Same game, new purchaqe, "should've been an update".
I got the premium 130€ version when it came out but given the letdown and how little the extra 60€ over the base game offered me, i'm absolutely sure i won't be spending a single cent on 2024. Some big bugs and issues from release are still in the game, the audacity to ask us to pay again for the same game but with seasons...
So you have to pay to get the 2024?
@@emperornephew6487 obviously
Please help. Need new aircrafts to MSFS: Blue Thunder, EDI UCAV, F/A 37 Talon, Mig-31 Firefox.
snow and summer green trees and grass look so real and sea plane that doesn't move according to waves but vind please asobo fix it
Soooo what about the new flight sim 2024? Whatever happened to that? We got one trailer and that's it
I suspect that the world updates will be included by default without needing to download it. One of the problems that MSFS 2024 is trying to solve is the huge storage requirements. Based on that all areas will likely be stream on demand, but they will likely still allow you to cache areas that you fly in a lot.
Yes that is the intention. However remember that the total download for the new 2024 sim also plays a part in that equation as well. So I suspect Jorg is on the fence because he doesn’t want to commit to adding that to the base content if it makes the total download too big. Maybe they will do something like X-Plane and ask the user which continent they want World Updates for. Yes, the WU are moving to the cloud, but there will still be a residual amount on the hard disk, and that’s the unknown part here.
Don't want this to sound too negative but I find it telling that they have nothing for reduce priced upgrades between 2020 and 2024, yet they've overhauled the marketplace, the one place where they can charge more money for content.
Still, it's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out around 2024's release and what improvements they actually do bring to the newer version. They may not sideline 2020 but there's no way they'll keep working on it at the same level.
2024 is a brand new version, not an upgrade so prepare to pay full price.
@@JSkorna I know, which is why I didn't say it was an upgrade. I was referring to the part in the video where Ant mentions people asking about upgrade pricing. 🙂
@@JSkornaare you fucking kiddin.....
Pay to update addons? I think not unless "outdated" is well defined because far too many addons have serious issues at release.. Release addons that work at release or don't' expect people to pay for them or, if not leave good reviews.
The update was beta tested, so why is the Bahamas water mask bug a surprise.....
Cause they hardly ever listen to their testers, or they do and don’t have the ability in the team to actually do anything before a release. Beta testers have been complaining about this before launch.
I did discover yesterday what I think is valid. Grass does not become bladed or rise in VR. Go to Hartford Brainard and go off to the grass near the river (the outer cut). It will be highly bladed and rise in standard mode but not in VR. You can actually compare and see. I could not make it rise in VR no matter what I did. Weeds (or small bushes) will still rise but not grass. There are several things that don't work in VR.
Ok so the new game will not just be a smaller map ? with only mission focus gameplay ? i though that was the new game. Is it going to be the world map ?
MSFS 2024 is a new version of MSFS 2020. It will have everything that the 2020 edition has, plus a load of new stuff.
It's going to be the world map. The idea you seem to have in your head was from the first wild guesses after 2024 was announced.
I haven't run the simulator for 6 months. I fired it up this weekend and after forever updating its running pretty well these days, I thought performance was better than it used to be on my RTX3060ti. Imagine my suprised to find out that whilst I was running it I was also backing up my HDD to a NAS and it still ran so well. Last time I looked I had strange blurs on the panels due to dlss all that looks fixed and works well.
All they need to do is update the Xbox version to make the black screens go away
The ant deserves lots more subs, simply for he fact that he has the best YT voice ever!
I hate it
I just want the Dune expasion/update.
If VR goes downhill, I won't use msfs personally
Snow depth doesn't determine if a lake is frozen, temperature does. That is a nonsensical parameter they're using.
But an entire lake doesn't immediately thaw if it is one degree above zero for a day nor does it freeze if it is one degree below zero for a day. Large bodies of water don't act like a puddle on your sideway. Plus there is the factor of salinity. Taking snow depth is more reliable because it shows a persistence of a certain temperature range that makes freezing of a lake more or less likely in general.
Anyone else getting appalling download speeds for the Caribbean update?
My series x had it done in about 15 minutes
Asobo has made so much money from us they should be able to finance retrieving the remaining missing earth data.
they need sailing vessels back, I want to reenact the voyage of Christopher Columbus in a caravel in MSFS.
ATC in MSFS2020 has been a hot mess since day 1
The latest update bricked my flightsim....
I've moved back to x-plane 11
Give Xplane 12 a try :D A lot better than many people think and all the updates are handled though steam (if you get it on steam of course )
That’s happened to me before. I uninstalled it and reinstalled. Also after updated, graphics settings get reset so check your graphics settings.

what's happened to the talking head? :(
I thought I could understand English. But I guess not.
The earth looks flat
Not from 60,000 feet, it doesn’t.
Yea and the world looks tiny from my bedroom window. Fly higher
@@sound4uaudiovideorecording927 evidence
UE5 is the future ... MSFS still relies on the process of mipmapping and you can see the effects (morphing of scenery tiles) in your video, especially around mountains. VR sales have declined significantly, not sure why they are wasting time on it? If they can provide, better cloud rendering, better ground physics, better flight physics, and higher resolution terrain (1024 rather than 256/512), that would go a long way.
UE5 is most definitely *not* the future. It's a good engine, but it has many issues and generally does not handle large open worlds well without significant manual optimization. UE5 has its niche, but it would be awful for something like MSFS. Bespoke engines still have a place (look at ID Tech, Forza Tech, Decima, Frostbite (without the bugs lol))
Who are you to say what is time wasting? There are probably 1000's of people that enjoy VR at the moment.
@@lolzlolz102 Maybe so, but VR usage and sales have declined drastically. From the perspective of applying limited development resources it would be more effective to allocate to support the 1,000,000's of user rather than the 1000's of VR users. Certainly continue supporting VR, but it should be a much lower priority when other more pressing issues exist.
where is the ton of infos on fs2024 ????? useless video...
The tons of info is on Flight Sim *in* 2024. Neither title nor thumbnail mentions MSFS2024. Useless comment! 😂
Damn it, second comment
Still makes me chuckle how people were complaining about FS2024… when it releases 4 YEARS after the first.
They cry like X-Plane users 😂❤
You're right. In the past they used to issue a new version every 2 years. I think the continuous updates and support gives a different time perception
Sorry, I fly MSFS since the 80s . This a megalomaniac project. Problems, problems , silence, problems. Not enough, a new GAME -not a simulator - is on the verizon.
Irritating title thought its about mafs2024
Is this read AI? Either that or the reader has TERRIBLE English pronunciation!
