    First time on your channel and I have to say your cogent in your delivery of good metrics!!
    Purchased with intent for 5 years - first build in 25 years (much has changed).
    So many posts stating this particular card runs hot, it had soured me to attempting in a hyte y60 case -aftermarket bracket issues notwithstanding.
    I think I’ve made a good decision on this card; thank you sir. Subscribed.

    Regarding the two power connectors. I went a step farther this last build in January. I purchased the 180 degree power connectors. They plug into the Card and do a quick U-turn towards the back of the card. Its very compact. Just plug your power into those and the wires are headed in the right direction into the back frame of your Case. They are an excellent purchase.

    Very helpful review. Would be interesting to see comparisons to other brands (Gigabyte, Asus, XFX etc) and maybe do a streaming/recording encoding (HEVC, AV1) review (e.g. in OBS) and comparison with the 4070. This kind of review is missing (not a single video in YT).

    • @gorjy9610
      @gorjy9610 Před 8 měsíci

      There're some video comparisons on yt, not maybe with this card but all cards from same gen share same media engine so it will be exactly same experience.
      But yt is wrong media for that, what you see is usually third compression of same video clip, not a first one so I'm not sure how that data visually mean anything, at best you can take reviewers word as proof of anything.

    I'm currently running the sapphire nitro+ 7900xtx. Even running at 462 watts overclocked it never gets above 61°C with 35-40% fan speed. 21.6°C ambient in my room. Sapphire built an extremely awesome cooler.

    • @PineyJustice
      @PineyJustice Před 8 měsíci +1

      @@elu5ive Sapphire nitro is pretty awesome, mine undervolts very well and will hit well over 3ghz, under load it's usually around 2.9ghz with undervolts and stock power. The reference XTX at 350w gives up a fair bit to hit that 350w limit, with undervolting the reference card really gains a lot of performance. It doesn't necessarily affect average a ton, but it really smooths things out from my experience.

    I have the 7900XTX version of this, and it is exactly the same physically. You can tell they didn't change the design because there's space for 3 8-pin power connectors. The Dual BIOS is actually a remnant of the 7900XTX having an OC BIOS and a stock BIOS. Though to be honest, cooling capacity is somewhat overkill even for the 400W board power it pulls on the highest end OC BIOS, the card never really goes above 70 degrees hotspot in a well ventilated case.

    Cases: Fractal Torrent
    Motherboards: Gigabyte Aero G X570S
    The Nitro+ was a bear to get in her case. I swear it is bent from manufacturer. Mine slipped right in no issue.

    I am running the 7900 XT Nitro+ which is using the very same design and that's probably why we are seeing this design for the 7800. Is it overkill? Yep. Did they already have it available and could largely reuse it? Yep. It looks like a decision was being made to streamline manufacturing and arguably in a good way for the customer. Maybe it could have been cheaper with a more modest cooling design.. but do we really buy sapphire nitros for that in the first place :-) ?

    Hey Wendell. I like your content, I like you. The review is fair. I got convinced myself. But god damn it do I regret it. I've spent so many, many hours in the past two months troubleshooting, reading forums, talking with technicians. Nothing fixed my issues. Two straight months of constant driver timeouts in WoW. The issue only got better with WoW's latest patch but Blizzard not prioritizing to fix the issue on their end just says something about AMD products. I've sent numerous reports to AMD, hundreds even and I've never gotten an email back. Spending so much on a GPU to have an experience this bad is just depressing. I've tried everything in the world to get the thing stable but the only way to fix it was to revert to DX11, which came with a huge performance hit. I didn't even know what hardware acceleration is before. Now I've had to disable it on all the programs I could. Perhaps reviewers should warn their viewers of these things as an asterisk at the end of their videos. AMD just doesn't have a big enough userbase. Companies won't prioritize fixing their issues when 80% of their users are on NVIDIA cards. AMD won't get as much data out of an issue to fix it fast enough. I wanted to believe in AMD so much, I wanted to believe it will run as smoothly as all the reviewers said (like Luke from LTT saying he forgot he changed his card) but when it comes to where I spent my money, I'm extremely disappointed. Freakin' hell, I did everything right. I did my research, I double checked for any errors when building my PC. Nothing fixes the damn TDR issue. And it's a long-standing one if all my time searching in google, reddit, amd and blizzard forums says anything.

    Since I'm playing at 1080p this card should be perfect for me. I had 6900XT but I sold it (I had Red Devil but Coil Whine was unbearable..) I'm battling in my mind which one should I get since there's not much of a difference (price) between 7800XT or 7900XT. But when I look at 7900XT in terms of price I can get a 7900XTX for a little more than 7900XT and I'm talking about Nitro+ from Sapphire. What do you think about ASUS TUF models of Radeon GPUs? Also awesome video!

      7900xtx is insanely overkill for 1080p... even the 7800xt is meant for high refresh rate 1440p... i wouldnt spend more than $300 on a gpu for 1080p unless you just like wasting money

    I suppose my only concern would be how long it is. My current case, a Cooler Master HAF X only supports about 13 inches of length, but I don't believe it in that regard. And I am very interested in a quiet card after my reference vega 64 card. Sure, I adjusted the fan curve to avoid it cooking it self while I am unemployed. But I still wish it were quieter.

    I have the Sapphire Pulse 7800 XT, and it's basically identical to those seen here, and I believe it's about $50 cheaper, with only two fans and a nicer aesthetic imo. Peak temperature on the hot spot is 89 degrees, other sensor is about 60-65 degrees, that's with cyberpunk at 1440p nearly maxed with normal ray tracing (not ray reconstruction... it doesn't like that lol). That's with the default fan curve which leaves a lot of room for extra cooling at the cost of a little noise.
    It's not particularly quiet when it's revving higher than 70% or so (I also have a louder, Fractal North case), but if you push it up it can stay cooler by about 10 degrees or more, and at default keeping it at 89 it's not loud at all imo.

      I'll just repost my comment. Here's a little mini review of the Pulse, I bought it about 3 weeks ago.

You can also keep the fan off when not gaming and it keeps a temp between 35-40 degrees, about 45 in the hot spot.
      I can't compare the fps exactly because I don't play most of these games or I use different settings, but it seems to match up based on my experience with Cyberpunk 2077. I actually have 16k vs 12k Firestrike Ultra score which is a lot higher but I can't really explain that, I think time spy was about the same but can't quite remember. I'm pleased with it so far for sure.
