  • The Year of Return, Ghana 2019 is an initiative of the government of Ghana - along with the U.S.-based Adinkra Group - that is intended to encourage African diasporans to come to Africa (specifically Ghana) to settle and invest in the continent. It was formally launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo[1] in September 2018 in Washington, D.C. as a program for Africans in the diaspora to unite with Africans. The year 2019 is symbolic as it commemorates 400 years[2] since the first enslaved Africans touched down in Hampton, in the English colony of Virginia in America.[3] The program also recognizes the diaspora's achievements and sacrifices in the time since that event.[4][5] Starting from when President Barack Obama made a visit to the Cape Coast in 2009, many famous, respected and admired African-Americans from the diaspora have visited Ghana to discover its culture.[6] The Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture lined up a slate of activities in "celebration of the resilience of the African spirit."[7][8] Many African Americans shared their stories regarding their experiences in Ghana during the Year of Return

The TV stations and the Tourism board need to do a better job of telling the Ghanaian citizens not to beg for money from tourists........

They do it to Ghanaians who live outside Ghana and come and visit. Bolt is doing nothing about it. Why don't you inform bolt?

Gentlemen, pls dont talk that much. I was in kumasi last year from the States, and I witnessed a series of such encounters with such fredulent bolt drivers . I am a Ghanaian, and I can attest to this. I think stringent measures should be put in place to check these scams

If there's rot in Ghanaian way of life it should be checked. We want these brothers and sisters in the diaspora to come home why should we allow the "rots" amongst us to scam strangers and take advantage of them? Dyn has every right to let us know what some people are doing to tarnish the image of Ghana. Dyn has to ask those who have been scammed if they have reported it to the police? That easy way of life hanging out on strangers pretending to be guide and stealing the should stop.

In as much as we will always take pride in seeing people promoting our beloved country to the world would also not mean that, we will stay so dumb and hypocrite as to not equally blow the lip off to expose the rots when it comes to the realities of bad behavior to the world " There's a saying that "what's good for the goose is equally good for the ganda " I in particular wouldn't subscribe to the adage which says spare the rod and spoil the child. It would be better and more honest on our side and unto our conscience to present the rot and good to the outside world so they can make their own judgment as to whether or not they will visit the country or not, instead of concealing such inplosive canker
