Imagine if thing supported video streams so that you could use for dreamcast, DS, GC/GBA, etc.
There's a market there, and this is so close to filling that niche.

RIP Nintendo Wii U and 3DS, but love that Wii U HE'S BACK picture on that TV. It's like HE'S BACK from Stone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie. That controller have a screen, well that's like a small version of Wii U wow! 😊😮
For a moment I thought the controller's screen could be used as a second screen for 3DS and Wii U emulation.
Pretty sure that's possible with a bit of customization; you can do it with a phone. But this being a channel about Nintendo, I guess they don't really want to risk talking about it.

@@mikeuk666 Of course not. You don't seem to realize I'm obviously not talking about native hardware. It's the same with a phone, doesn't have anything to do with hardware; it works through streaming/cabled screen casting or whatever way allows you to have just the bottom screen shown on your phone. Or did you think I was talking about the phone/controller running an emulator and then sending off the top screen to the PC? 😐
@rafaeldoraguille9169 I doubt it would work that well… from what it seems the screen isn’t a touch screen, so even if you managed to get emulation working on it you could only play a few games.

Had a 3rd party controller for the PS2 that had a screen. Loved it cuz I could watch movies on it without a tv.
Given the pre-production status and the number of things that could be fixed with firmware alone, i would be quite interested in you revesiting it a couple months down to check if anything has evolved

The clicky triggers are supposed to function like mouse clicks for faster input. Many shooters actually benefit from this with bumper controls because they have less delay from when you press to thr action occuring.
Xbox has also used this style since the Xbox One came out and mosf third party controllers are heavily based Xbox controllers. Plus the Switch joycons themselves also has clicky bumpers but also has clicky triggers.
Honestly this is how they could actually revisit the wii u gamepad functionality. Have controller with its own small touchscreen but still be size and shape of regular controller isntead of a bulky tablet. The second screen on gamepad shouldnt be forced gimmick but rather for optional quality of life settings. For example in zelda wind waker for wii u you could instantly swap inventory items on the touch screen on wii u gamepad without having to go to pause menu. These type of quality of life settings becoming a norm would be nice.

That's actually a really cool concept imo. So much easier to not have to deal with some external app. That's why I usually just use the default first party controller and don't fool with all that stuff.
It's not to bad if your driving one controller on pc to switch to whatever
I have a 8bitdo and is pretty simple
But I have a
Wireless GameCube controller
Wireless Xbox controller
Wireless n64 controller
All for pc emulation and windows with controllers are bloody awful
All my emulators work perfect but pc games with the Xbox controller because I have all the Dongles in at all times it makes the GameCube controller primary so I have to unplug it
I do have some fixes but the moral of the story
1 controller for all is way easier than multiple
Would be cool if we could get some kind of new form of the Dreamcast VMU for a new Nintendo console, since i never got to try it back in the day and i think it looks really neat😄. Something that can easily fit in your pocket.
This is literally the Wii U controller leaks and concepts people were thinking the console would’ve been. I wish the Wii U could’ve had a controller like this alongside with the game pad.

Weird thing with the setting menu sending inputs to the switch but I would just put the switch in sleep mode when changing something.

So before the PS5 came out, and before we even know the controller was called the "DualSense" and we were still expecting it to be called "DualShock 5". We saw that Sony patented a controller similar in shape to the DualSense now, but instead of a touchpad (which has been nothing more than an oversized select button at this point) it had a full color touch screen. I feel like this is just getting out ahead of the competition as screens on our controllers as a standard feature, is where we're headed in the near future (PS6 DualSense 2 perhaps).
A touchscreen would be worth it for OSK alone. Add a game's settings or another menu, a map or tracker, HUD elements, stylus/gesture controls, minigames, character/playstyle/weapon switching... I wish this was standard.

I feel like it must be possible for the manufacturer to set this up so PCs can recognise the screen as a second display. I have no idea what anyone would want that for (aside from maybe emulators), however it would instantly increase its coolness by at least 100%
A controller with little tiny screens on the face buttons would be cool. You could change the settings on the controller to Nintendo, Xbox, or Play Station mode and the glyphs would automatically change to match, so you could hand it to someone unfamiliar with that console and they could look at the controller and know what button to press. That and you could make custom glyphs for the buttons. Kinda like an Elgato Stream Deck (Not to be confused with the Valve Steam Deck). I hate that moment of hesitation when switching between Nintendo and Xbox style controllers where the buttons are inverted, especially when emulating Nintendo games using an xbox style controller. This would solve a bit of that confusion when your brain gets turned around.
Well that upcoming new Nyxi pro controller will also have analogue triggers however, it's aimed to be compatible with the GC and PC too which as you may know totally accept analogue triggers.
Dunno if they fixed sunshine for the switch to work with analogue ones tho

The 1.1.0 update of Super Mario 3D All-Stars supposedly added support for GameCube controllers in the Super Mario Sunshine port, including support for the analog triggers. But it seems to me that this port still only recognizes soft press and hard press of the trigger, not the entire range of pressure in-between.
The reason you want your stick delayed is snapback, if your stick snapbacks, haveing a slight interpolation on your stick cancels it out. Its like a software snapback capacitor.
Put the stick clicks on the paddles, you will see a difference in how annoying it is to use the sticks. Only use 2 and make them the ones higher up so you can keep an excellent grip with pinky and ring finger.
The screen should show the current button layout and the device it's connected to. I wonder why they didn't think of that.

Thats why i like my gulikit controller. Yeah it has no screen it has no back buttons on the controller but no dongle needed for pc android or Nintendo switch. It feels great in the hands and its the only 3rd party controller that has amiibo nfc capabilities.

Back buttons slap when playing souls game because you can run and control the camera without contorting your hand
Alex, I thought the switch could recognize analog triggers. It is up to the game to use them. Can see if the triggers work in Trial Rising? I kinda remember that the gamecube shoulder buttons work in that game
GRID Autosport uses them on switch. At least it does with a gamecube controller
They could at least put a clock in that screen. I know you can see what time is it at home menu, but that's a feature that is always useful.

I think this controller has potential. Obviously, there's some kinks to work out, but if they stick with this idea, I think it may be a good buy, especially since it's the same price as a Switch Pro Controller. Plus, I would have thought that the screen would have been touch enabled, but I digress.

Lol imagine a new Wii U controller for Switch. There are so many things that prevent it from happening including games have already been ported, Nintendo adds retro games at such a slow pace and the controller is too expensive to produce. Nintendo could’ve also made the old controller compatible with the Switch but probably didn’t to avoid confused customers.
One is the question : can you play Doom on this screen?

so.. the face buttons are in the xbox controller layout.. the shoulder buttons can be analog input.. hmm if only there was another console beside the switch where this would be a better use case for.. but no. the video title clearly states its a switch controller so it has to be one. we wont even talk about the playstation symbol buttons in the settings.

I'd love a super controller that comes with an easy-to-use menu.
I'd want gyro (for PC), I'd want the controller to work on all three consoles and PC and to switch between the modes in the screen menu. And support all of them wired (wireless is less important for me but I can see why it's essential for some people). I could bring it with me to tournaments or other people's places.
Could put my own picture on the screen. Use the menu to do all the connecting stuff. Because I agree, I hate having to remember button combos.

probably time to invest in a $10-$15 bluetooth 5.0 USB adapter. you could get a bluetooth 4.0 adapter for even less, probably $8.
