    Another fantastic Model for sure. You are a true craftsman. Now, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or make someone angry, but I enjoyed this video the best, simply because there was no music. None at all and I was a very happy modeler wanna be. LOL! Anyway, thank you again for a terrific tutorial video on a really neat tank. I'm going to have to get this particular type of tank, hopefully in my go to company of Tamiya. Nothin' against Academy, I just prefer Tamiya.

    Bought this kit. This kit would make an outstanding technology demonstrator on how to produce flashing. It reminds me of the Revel kits from back in the day. I'm spending more time cleaning up and trimming the parts than I am in assembling them.

    Like that Academy is producing some nice kits, always good to have another choice of manufacturer. M3 Lee/Grant has some crazy angles, good to see Academy pull it off so well. Liked the build and painting/weathering, nice to see bit of a 'grungy' finish - looks great. Awesome video as always!

    I remember making one of these....
    I did paint some of the wheels before I took them off of the tree....
    But mine didn't look nearly as good as this.
    Only thing I did which I've yet to see others do... is "smoke" certain parts (with a lighter) to give some things a burnt look.
    Mostly did that with Planes or Jets

    Okay, I don't know everything, but I know that design of tank was origionally called a "Grant"-from WWII photos/listings. Also the Grant's side cannon wasn't nearly as long as is the one on your model (don't they elevate/rotate?)!! Tamia/Tamya(sp?) was my favorite WWII model company!! They ('69-'73) when I bought them, some were even motorized, and actually wish I still had them!! Have fun, sincerely Randy.

    Anyone thinking the M3 Lee looks very funky? 😁 it looks pretty bad but at the same time good 😋
    By the way the M3 was a total disaster in real life. Almost no gun depression so it could not get into hull-down positions. The armour was bolted so when the tank was hit the armour could just fall off.

      @jerryvolpini7987 Před 6 lety +1

      He's not priming, just adding a pre-shade (black) and some hilights (white). When you paint over this it adds some variation (weathering) to the base coat of olive drab. Not necessary though, you can prime and then base coat with the olive drab.

      Yea, Andy just adds a little thinner to the Tamiya paint bottle. A lot of people thin with Tamiya lacquer (their paints are not true acrylics) - the paint sprays beautiful this way, it levels out nicely and provides really good bite/adhesion.

  • @davidmuse7004
    @davidmuse7004 Před 7 lety

    This is a great video!!!! I'm into HO scale model trains, but the techniques you are using will translate to all hobbies where weathering is done. Question, You paint, seal and then weather. When you weather and put a thinner on top of paint and start moving the thinner around for washes, will this start to take of the sealer you put on the paint and then will it start attacking your paint? I never thought of using thinner to help wash colors because I've been afraid of ruining the pain job. Thanks for the videos and very happy that I have subscribed to you channel.. Much Respect and please have a Peaceful and Safe Holiday Season. D. Muse (Washington Terminal Co. Model RR)

    • @beuford1982
      @beuford1982 Před 7 lety

      David, to answer your question, if you put a sealer down, such as Vallejo Satin varnish or even Future Floor Finnish/was, those sealers protect the work that you've already done from following coats during weathering. If you use enamel washes or water based washes the sealer should continue to protect what you've already done as long as it is fully dried/cured before you start weathering over it. I usually let my kits sit and cure for a full 24 hours or even two or three days after applying the sealer coat before beginning to weather to be sure that I wont have issues with the previous coats being effected by the weathering. I hope this helps and answers your question.

    • @AndysHobbyHeadquarters
      @AndysHobbyHeadquarters  Před 7 lety

      yes he is right and I always seal everything first that will protect your paint job and experiment on old kits or on the bottom first to try things out , happy holidays
