  • Building the new Miniart Australian Me Lee 1/35 scale model. This kit has a full interior which makes the build process somewhat longer than a regular armour kit. In this video I build the entire kit and complete the initial painting and basic weathering of the interior. You can find Takom's M3 Lee kits here: amzn.to/370Fk7H

    This was one of the BEST build videos that I have ever watched. It, properly so, omitted the unnecessary stuff like sanding and cutting off of parts from the runner, yet focused on the important things like fit and alignment. I appreciate that you explained when things didn't fit as expected.
    The camera work was very good. The volume of the background music was perfect, as was your narration. Your narration was concise and delivered professionally. The music chosen was also pleasant, rather than the usual cacophony that others choose.
    I am eagerly awaiting part 2.

    The Lee/Grant tank is an intriguing design in that it incorporates a tank killer with a light scout tank. An interesting build and look forward to seeing it painted.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  Před 4 lety +1

      I agree - and the relationship between the Lee/Grant, the Canadian Ram which I built a while ago, and the Sherman is interesting too. I've actually already got the paint down and am working on the weathering now - there's a small preview of it on my channel's Community page.

    • @heinzguderian9980
      @heinzguderian9980 Před 4 lety

      The reason for its design is because they wanted a 75mm gun on the tank but they didn't have the design experience necessary to mount a 75mm gun in a turret so they put it in the hull. The Lee was always meant to be a stopgap until they could produce the Sherman.

    I have built two models of the M3 Lee. Once when I was about 17 years old and then again when I turned 40 years of age. It was a fairly good tank. It was used very often in the far east front in China during WW2. The older Lee did not survive as well as the second one. I still have both, but after so many years of building and learning, The second Lee looks so much better. Thanks for the video. I would love to take a crack at building that Lee as well.

      Hi. I edit my videos using Sony Vegas, although I only use fairly basic features so I'm sure you could achieve the same with most video editing software. I normally use Paint.net, which is a free Windows program, to create the thumbnails.
      As for views and subscribers - I'm not sure, to be honest. Personally, I'd focus on enjoying the process of modelling - if you are having fun, that will come across in your videos and hopefully keep people engaged.

    I never have given MiniArt much beyond a passing glance. However, I think this video may have changed my mind. The molding is pretty good, and I like the details.
    There are so many full interior kits coming out now that nine year old me would see it was worth the wait. I've collected a few Rye Field Model and Takom kits in my stash. I must say, this kit you are working on compares favorably with them. The small parts and the photo-etch (which I used to shy away from) have really extended my building skills.

      There were so many versions (especially of the Sherman), it's hard to keep track of them. I imagine a lot of it was down to either what was available at the time, upgrading to keep up with increased requirements, or changes according to the requirements of individual countries.

I would listen to his stories for hours as a child. He told me each man kept at least 2 personal weapons and the tank itself came with at least 2 individual AMWs. BAR or Thompson. Just keep in mind that the Lee was only ever used for training in Australia so let's not get carried away with the imaginary improvements.

      I'm not quite sure which imaginary improvements you're referring to there.

    Builds good, music is terrible! Since this is a Lee, you should consider a montage of U.S. civil war southern military songs w/o the words: Dixie ect. Just a thought, not real criticism.

      Sorry you didn't like the music, but it's pretty difficult to find copyright free music for such videos.
