- In this episode, I'm facing a critical challenge on the homestead. My newly planted tiny forest, consisting of 150 trees, is under threat from the scorching sun and rapidly approaching hot weather. The trees are beginning to show signs of stress, and I'm racing against the clock to save them.
Join me as I hand-dig over 300 feet of trench to bring much-needed irrigation water to my thirsty tiny forest. It's a race against time and the elements to ensure the survival of these young trees. Will my efforts be enough to protect them from the impending heatwave?
Watch as I tackle this urgent crisis and find out if my tiny forest can withstand the heat. Your support and encouragement mean the world to me, and I appreciate you joining me on this journey.

We need an origin story of your man servant . I gotta know how that came to pass
I've been wondering about him as well.
Hatched from an egg taken from the summit of Mt. Fuji. They imprint on the first person they see. Loyal to a fault. Subsist on unwanted lunch meals provided by the tradcon.
It all started when his father looked at his mother with desire in his eyes...
I could be wrong but I think he adopted the term after viewers, maybe haters were using it in a more negative way.
I am assuming it involved his sand snake.
Blessed is the man who plants trees under whose shade he will never sit. You plant hope for the future, Cody... God bless you and your family!
One day your great great grandchildren may walk in amongst those trees just as you do. All the motivation a man ought need for such. God bless!
He wont have to wait that long :). They take about 30 years to reach a good height
I love it that you love the Lord.
Yes water meadow management is rather magical!
The one boot for the shovel had me lol
I thought the same thing. Like really? Just put on shoes 😂
This is the best music I've ever heard on the ch. please continue playing some good piano music like this, thanks Cody!
When I was three or four I followed my father down onto the lawns that my great-grandfather had planted and where we now had our small home to sit beside him while he dug a 20 by 20 ft garden plot, as measured by me 15 years later.
Each shovel full following that's spring rain seemed as large as my chest and I still remember that smell of sod and dark Earth and the oil on his boots and then the damp on his canvas pants but she always put up and had after rain the day before when I watched him cut firewood in a field we were clearing.
When he finished my mother's garden plot there was a wall of sod laid like brick surrounding it and then a small opening where a fence might have been put and never was and that Summer she planted cosmos and giant sunflowers, mint that we could walk through and then standing in the middle of it is the wind blew and loved us . . .
Thanks for your videos
A tip from someone who does this for our fields, let the water do it's thing for a good week at least before going and trying to meld the land. Water will find it's way, just takes some time, sometimes a lot of time.
Irrigation is fun
Looks like his second Childhood.
Such an interesting process. Loved watching it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Exciting time of the year to see the irrigation start. It's such an elegant and simple solution to a problem modern farmer spend hundreds of thousands to handle.
West coast man uses one shoe to dig! Fizz
Water of life! Much love from Poland, where due to bad water management we battle droughts! But we will get through it, we will grown and prosper! People are starting river guerrillas, building dams and weirs.
Hello Cody, I was wondering what ever happened with the forest land plot you were working at developing for a gathering area?
I really enjoyed the forestry work.
Nothing good I'm sure
Well done hard work but a work of love for the trees your trying to nurture
Can we get an interview with Mr. Jeriah, your man servant?
If hes open to doing an interview that honestly would be really cool
Down at the creek is a good spot for your rolling mill.😮
Geez the property is looking 💯👌🏽
Ah, finally, we see the tent DID survive the winter :)
It's satisfying watching the flow😊
Good morning all. Love the flood irrigation. Wish we had something similar around my place.
planting tree whips in North Wales we do not need irrigation streams as it rains nearly every week to some extent throughout the year. We get about 4.5m or over 14'ft of rain per annum on average, plenty for the new trees.
Doing this to my property here in Texas...removing the terrible junipers, thinning some of the mesquite and getting oaks and ash, etc back in place. Shade for the house and garden, wind protection and a privacy. Love it man!!
so nice to see . thqnk you god blessw you and family .
One shoe to drive the shovel brilliant 😂
I love the water aspect of homesteading.
I love the footage of the irrigation system there’s just something about the natural beauty of the water flowing through the property.
Irrigation is life .
Noticing that the sod (dirt) you are peeling up is jet black! Very fertile.
Nice.
Reminds me of the rice field in Arkansas as they divert water into the fields. Great work! God bless you and your family as well!
Take my like, and a comment for the algorithm. Stay ready
Ive being watching your video since heart racer time and this is one of my favorite! I like your music choice and good idea for irrigation
Your irrigation system is almost as good as the back porch rifle range at the previous location!
this is really missed at the new property
That soil is a digging man’s dream, can’t do that on my property in Texas.
That is some of the richest dirt I’ve seen in a while. Looks like fun too, I can see why it’s an enjoyable hobby!
nothing more beautiful as a man with happy smiling face on his own playground . . . 🤠🤠🤠😎🤠🤠🤠
Always learning with your videos
That is super cool. Didn’t think I would be so interested in irrigation. Great video sir. See you on the next one. 🤝
Thought it was cool to hear you humming that old hymn. Seems like no body knows them anymore, much less sing them.
Very cool seeing the old ways being used again to provide needed water to areas in need.
I’m gonna tell my kids this is John Marston
I can relate to your joy of doing this. You must have Dutch roots. We fight water, we control it, and we have it work for us. My 6 year old son can spend literally hours on the beach, just digging trenches, building dykes and dams. Just like what I used to do when I was a kid. And I still find myself immersed completely in it completely when I join my son. ;-)
This is a long term project that id love for you to keep updating us on, irrigation is something i know little about but wish i to learn the ways of old :)
Won’t the water reach the bottom of your fire wood stacks ?
Go Cody, one shoe one and one shoe off
Cody has vastly underrated editing skills. This is beautiful. Also, you will drop the locks in the Fall to prevent freezing?
I'm 43 and an expert martial artists if I say so myself!
With Injuries to my back, I could not have dug those trenches mate. Massive respect, I have to hand you my belt, your stronger Buddy! Good job 👍👍👍👍👍
It's always easier to dig when you know you have heavy equipment covering your back if you get tired. 👍🏼
We all have our days,
Love these irrigation videos. Please do a followup if you can?
i enjoyed that, what with the music, nice one.
Beautiful
What a great way to live life
Now this, is a proper video.
Tractor with a plow works wonders
if you didnt do it already, making a bed of dead leaf, dead grass or straw can really help keeping water.
In a way you just make a forest like soil, we did this on our young fruit tree, really help them during summer
That I get, deeply satisfying .
Thanks for the hymn. Great reminder of the real proho priority.
I always plant my saplings a smidge high, mulch them with a mound of wood chips then brush the chips aside to form a little crater in the middle where the trunk is. I hand water in the beginning so I can keep an eye on them. They need consistent water without being overly saturated.
Highest quality as always beloved. I pray you and your family and those in your employ are richly blessed, in Jesus’ name. Amen and amen.
I did the Sweden nordic tour in 1989, never sought citizenship thou lol.
The first part of the video with you in the stream reminds me of Huckleberry Finn with his pants and bear feet. Wonderful
🐻🦶🏼
do not forget his friend tom . . .
As a kid, I would do the same in our garden building mazes of water channels. I called it aqua-engineering 😂
Nice set up.
Nothing like getting your hands dirty!
I'd love to see an update on how the water is doing, even if it's just as a short. I also second the motion to get a podcast style video with Jeriah, although I respect if he's not a fan of being on camera, I'm practically allergic to cameras myself
Would like to see the progress on this!
Proper usage is a Science
We need a video on jeriah, unless he wants to stay private which I totally understand and respect.
Something about water being redirected by gravity is satisfying.
No matter how old we get, it’s still fun to play in the water! You said the dry loving plants will die off, but with it turning into a marsh, won’t you get a lot of thick marsh loving plants growing there now?
"no that's not the Ukrainian flag" got a chuckle out of me.😅
Right on
Those of us being here long enough knows.
The artistry with which you accomplished your irrigation is a living testament to your love and concern for the earth. Thank you for all you do.
East coast man here. Godspeed Cody!!!
Digging all that trench by hand is alot of work. If only you had a buddy with a mini excavator.
🎶 “Praise Him, praise Him, Prophet & Priest & King” 🎶 👍🏼
Love the video , is this going to soak the piles of fire wood you have stacked there ? Or will the water be diverted around them ?
I was wondering that too....🤔. Plus getting a vehicle in there for their removal will create unintended trenches. Does June runoff cause problems. ✌️🇨🇦
You are truly living the dream my friend. Your videos continue to inspire me and keep me pushing forward on all my little homestead projects. Keep em coming brother!
Have you thought about a ram pump? No electricity needed for that, just a lot of water "wasted" going back to the river. There is a lot of videos on the tube for setup, can even pump water high up with that, just more water wasted from the mechanical action.
He's a pro at ram pumps by now, he had a few on his last property. Sounds like a great idea though, and I'd recommend going back and watching his videos where he installed them, they were some of his best I thought
really nice idea for some project videos to make useful things - - -
I handle my sand snake quite a bit as well. It's White though.
Good morning,All! I hope everyone has a great day.
Yet Another Excellent Video Brother ❤🙏👍🏼
You & Your Family & OUR Republic are Always in my prayers 🙏 ❤️
If you ever got bored, with the river and that soil you could grow an immense garden. Could can a lot of stuff and put it back.
This is just fascinating stuff!
Could you show how the water is distributed to all the trees? I get how it gets to the "forest", but what happens then?
A little hard work goes a long way…
HIGH QUALITY CONTENT.
Wow, that was awesome! Thanks Cody for showing us that project and great camera work!
Cody the SOD BUSTER.
Redirecting water is always such peaceful work!
Was that hymn you were seeing in the middle of the video ?
something very poetic about this video TBH
There has got to be a Sunday Sermon here...
Wonderful. How long into the summer do you get water from the mountain flowing onto your property?
7:14 The water patiently waits for the master to carve a path. Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" talks about the metaphorical emphasis; the importance of patience, strategy, and the passage of time in achieving success. Patience, observance, persistence, resilience.
👍👍🇨🇦
that's a Wickstrom flag. RIP Grandpa
What about a ram pump? Watched you put one together a long time ago and seemed to work quite well.
Is that the 940 making an appearance again!!?
Based
Cody, i just got back stateside from my deployment. i was wondering if we could do members only livestreams sometime in the future
I wonder did Moses have a single clog upon thine foot when he dawned his staff?
Could you let us know what those tree tubes are? I planted a bunch of short leaf pine here in Missouri only for the deer to annihilate them through the cold of winter…
So infatuated with the novelty of going barefoot that the man has to take extra time to put on 1 boot to get the job done.
