    I am a auto sports photographer. 2 things I would suggest that you didn't talk about. I suggest switching to back button focus, and continous shooting. I shoots with a T7 and a 90d. I find that my best photos usually are captured about the 3rd and 4th photos of a burst.

    Nice video! What I love about the panning shot is you don't need a low aperture i.e expensive lens to do it. It's all about the timing of the shot. Dialing in that shutter speed to suit. After 100's of shot's your doing well to get a handful of great shots!

    • @photogenius

      Agree, you can take great panning photos with entry level gear and no fancy lens required as it's largely technique. Thanks for the feedback.

    Great video as always Paul. I have an issue with my Canon m50 and is when I try to select the middle focus point, I press the icon you did but my camera focus on the screen is a square not and triangle like yours with different dots where i get to choose the middle point. Please advice

    • @photogenius
      @photogenius  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Rene,
      The M50 is a very different camera - the square is the where the camera will focus, and you should be able to move this around using the round 'selector / joystick' button on the back of the camera.

    How do you do this for indoors. Outdoors you have the help of sunlight for this stuff.

    • @photogenius
      @photogenius  Před 8 dny +1

      If you are looking to use the panning technique at an indoor track, then keep the shutter speed same, but set your lens to the widest aperture and increase the ISO. Unfortunately most indoor sports venues are not well lit, so the ISO may well have to be set much higher than you would normally use, whilst this may mean some digital noise, it's better to get the shot than miss the shot.

    Hello how are you?
    Congratulations on the video, I just found it in a CZcams search.
    Can you help me understand something?
    How can I, a Brazilian photographer, work as a freelancer in sporting events such as races, obstacle races, trail races, etc.?
    Is there any company that hires foreigners to work as freelancers? If yes, what do you need? My intention is to start at the beginning of 2024 at sporting events around the world.
    My dream is to be a sports photographer around the world covering this together with a team.
    It's a shame that here in Brazil we don't have much information about access in America and Europe.
    I thank you for your attention.

    ISO (signal amplification /gain) has nothing to do with the amount of light that camera captures (that is, it's not a part of exposure), genius.

    Thanks for the interesting tutorial.
    I am a (freetime) sportsphotographer and I use to take my "panning" photos on camera setting "M" (manual) and determin myself the aperture and shutter speed needed, while putting the ISO on Auto(matic), also using "back button focus". This works for me the best. Very important : practise, practise, practise ... !
