- Alice Christabel Montagu Douglas Scott (December 25, 1901 - October 29, 2004) was the wife of Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester, the third son of King George V and Queen Mary. She was the Duchess of Gloucester and mother of Prince William of Gloucester and Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester.
In August 1935, she became engaged to Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. They were married in a private ceremony, in November of that year. The couple travelled extensively to perform their royal duties. During World War II, Princess Alice worked with the Red Cross and the Order of St. John. She became head of the Women's Royal Air Force in 1940, and her association with the Air Force continued for many years. She was also Colonel-in-Chief or deputy Colonel-in-Chief of many regiments in the British Army.
The daughter of the 7th Duke of Buccleuch, Scotland's largest landowner, she became by marriage a Princess of the United Kingdom, and a sister-in-law to Edward VIII and George VI. She was thus an aunt by marriage to Elizabeth II.
In 1972, her elder son, Prince William, died in a flying accident at only 30 years old while piloting his plane in a competition.
She published The Memoirs of Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester in 1981. In 2001, the Royal Family held a ceremony to acknowledge her centennial birthday, her last public appearance. At the time of her death at 102, she was the longest-lived member of the British royal family. - Zábava
A lovely lady and true princess. So sad her older son Princes William was killed in a plane crash. He younger son has a beautiful family which I’m sure brought her lots of happiness. She left most of her fortune to her servants when she died. Amen. 🙏🙏🙏

A good compilation of this grand old lady's life and times. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. A very shy person. Her family the Montagu Douglas Scott owns one of the grandest homes in England. Died peacefully in her sleep at 103 outliving the Queen mother by 2 years

she was so pretty... she was a little unlucky on the one hand... she saw her son die very young and her husband soon after. but on the one hand she had a nice long life she reached almost 103 years! Like the queen mother.❤️💔

Her son was Prince William Duke of Gloucester. He died in 1972 in plane crash. She was married to the late Queen Elizabeth II Uncle named Henry.
She was married to Queen Elizabeth's uncle, the younger brother of her father. That uncle was called Henry and he died in 1974 and was the last among his siblings to die.
She was the oldest royal btw she lived up to 102
