She and the Duke had plans for the future that would not have included being working royals.,I believe he was an architect but when his elder brother suddenly died their lives changed overnight. Far from being petty and resentful about it they got on with it and have done a wonderful job of supporting his cousin, Queen Elizabeth and now King Charles.
I'm guessing that her life is very different from what she expected. Things changed so suddenly. She has done a wonderful job in her role as representative of the royal family. She is someone I really wish I had a chance to know personally.

The Gloucesters are my favorite royals. The show up, do their "job", go home and support the family at large. No fuss, no muss.

They have been very good supporters of the monarchy even though they were maybe 20th in line.
