Andy is still under the weather - we've now arranged a meeting with his social worker to discuss ideas for what we could do. His autism makes it very difficult for him to tell us what's wrong. He did cheer up for a little while though with a late Christmas present, and an awesome gift from one of our subscribers!

Judging from Andy's book entry today compared to yesterday, it seems like things are already getting less bad for him. Hang in there. If he continues sleeping well, things will continue to improve. I'm not a gambling woman, but I would put money on that.

Unfortunately with his diet issues there's nothing we can do about those.

My 8 year old son who has asd also has the sensory based eating disorder called ARFID (avoidant restrictive food intake disorder) he eats hotdogs, crisps and milk .... does have a sweet tooth for lollies but obviously he only gets a small bag once a week. Son will have the multivitamin Centrum for kids. It's the chewable kid and tastes like a lollie so no problem there.

No
As he is covering his eyes is it to do with his vision I know that having light sensitivity which of course is unfortantly made worse by screens such as iPad which in this day and age is a vital part of life for many makes you strain your eyes and makes you tired
Also for his depression I am on sertraline I'm not sure on child doses but it has made me stable and looking to go back to work

An optician wouldn’t be an option, he wouldn’t cooperate. We’re waiting for him to have his eyes tested at school again

Does Andy take any vitamin supplements? If he struggles with eating and only eats crisps he may be lacking in something x
He has a vitamin supplement that goes in his Rice Krispies, but he’s not really eating them lately
Have you guys tried lavender I heard it helps you fall asleep like I think u can get lavender sticks and rub it on the bottom of his feet I think I heard from someone that lavender helps a lot

Could it to do with his vitamin level cause it's now winter and his vitamin level is to low or not enough day light you could check out if it's that or not as sometimes feeling extra tired could be the vitamin or iron in us all

Maybe because his diet doesn't include much variety...I know it is because he is limited on what he does enjoy eating. He could have anemia...you feel tired and weak and because of his diet limits which excludes most if not all red meats and dark green veggies he is low on iron. Just a thought.
He's eaten roughly the same food every day for the last 10 years though, there haven't been any recent changes that would explain the change in how he's feeling.
Hopefully his body gets back into order once he gets his weekend rest and school is back in session. Feel better Andy!
