  • In this video, I will take a closer look at the Suzuki Jimny with the Torqit Throttle Controller installed. After using it for 6 months+ I feel confident enough to be able to give you guys my honest review of the product and talk about how it performs in general, but also off-road. As a bonus, I'm also showcasing some off-road content from my trip down to Newcastle at Stockton Beach, and this is where I had just gotten the Performance Exhaust installed from Torqit! 👏🏼
    But the question is, should you buy a throttle controller for your Suzuki Jimny? Watch the video to find out!

    This is the third or fourth time I’m watching this video. Thanks to you I ordered it from Torqit during the first days of May. (I live in Central America.) However, as I’m now looking at the last days of May I’m still awaiting its arrival. But, with your enthusiasm, I keep my fingers crossed my wait is worth it.
    Two thing I like about the Torqit is
    1. Off-Road mode.
    2. The Anti-theft mode.

      You’ll love it mate! I haven’t really used the anti-theft mode but the off-road mode is great, especially for rocky terrain

      I got it, installed it, but haven’t tried any other mode than the highest one yet.
      (I have to say that the customer service/attitude from a particular person at Torqit does not par with my expectations.)

  • @BorisEkner

    I have a manual. When I drive in a flat landscape I downshift and floor it when overtaking(!), meaning I’m accelerating as much as possible before changing lane & overtaking (which is quite an effort to accomplish in a standard Jimny…!).
    However, when I drive up steep mountains on serpentine roads downshifting doesn’t work that well for me. (Meaning, when I have several vehicles in line behind me I go to the side to let them pass.) I’m keeping my fingers crossed the Torqit controller will help me with this issue.
    Listening to you, and others, I will order the Torqit throttle controller keeping my fingers crossed that my up-the-mountain experience will improve.
    On top of that the Torqit has an anti-theft mode and an off-road mode. I like both options a lot!

      I’ve had the Torqit throttle controller for quite some time now. In the beginning I had it on its highest mode. Later I changed to the adaptive Intelligent mode, and I’ve kept it there since. It works perfectly for me. On top of that I use the anti-theft feature every time I park the car.
      The Torqit throttle controller has proved itself to be a good buy. No regrets at all.

  • @BorisEkner
    @BorisEkner Před rokem +1

    I've had the Torqit for some weeks now. From day one I set it to its highest setting. Why wouldn't I? Hahahaha!
    Too many time the highest setting generates too many HP's and too much torque for the situation and I find it difficult to adjust my right foot as I should.
    So this afternoon I set it to Intelligent Mode, that is the mode where it learns how I drive with the intention to optimize the performance & experience.
    My hopes are that I will have a smoother driving experience when doing tight corners in steep parking garages, and I do many of those.
    Time will tell if that will be my experience
    I am very happy with the Torqit controller. To my knowledge it is the only one with intelligent mode and an anti theft mode.
    Next time off-roading I will try the Off-Road Mode.
    There is no nice way to say this #1;
    The ones who argues against a throttle controller ... You have an opinion on a subject you know little to nothing about. Having an opinion without knowing the subject is the essence of stupidity. A throttle controller changes the power delivery chart to the engine. The higher the setting the faster the maximum power is delivered to the engine. The lower the setting the slower/later the power will be delivered, and the other settings are everything in-between.
    - With all the kindness I can bring ... If you don't like the idea of a throttle controller (without ever using one) don't buy one. But don't express an opinion if you don' know what you're talking about because you just reveal to the world how dumb you are. You don't need to display that, and we don't need to see that side of you.
    There is no nice way to say this #2;
    The only bad thing I can add to the Torqit experience is that one person I was in touch with within this family company does not live up to the standards of their product. The product is probably of world class, but this person is not. That is saddening to learn.
    To the ones thinking of getting a throttle controller: Get one! You won't regret it. As said above, the Torqit is probably the only one with an Intelligent Mode as well as an Anti Theft Mode. Those two was a game changer for me.

    Hey are you still using your Torqit? So I came back from work after a few weeks of my Jimny being parked up and I had every warning light come up on my dash once I started it. Turned out the throttle controller was tripping the system... I was enjoying it until that point.

  • @AronOutdoors
    @AronOutdoors Před rokem

    I don't have one, but I don't know why it would significantly affect fuel economy. It makes the throttle more responsive. You can have it set so that less push on the peddle gives you the same response as more push normally would. As you decide how fast you want to go or accelerate, wouldn't you naturally adjust to that change? I'm thinking that it would just make the car feel more responsive as you would no longer need to push the pedal deep into the floor all the time.

    • @ExploreJimny
      @ExploreJimny  Před 7 měsíci

      Yeah it’s more responsive and feels more like an actual car, it doesn’t require you to literally push the pedal all the way in to get a response which is good. I wouldn’t be without one after now having used one for a while 🙌🏽

    What's your average fuel consumption before and after? Overall off-road and not?

    • @ExploreJimny
      @ExploreJimny  Před rokem

      I think on-road it's about 8L per 100, whilst offroad it's probably 10-11 but it does really depend how heavy you drive it offroad. If it's super soft sand it could easily be 11-12L per 100. I generally get 380-390km of a full tank (by using 35/40L before fuelling up).

    • @ExploreJimny
      @ExploreJimny  Před rokem +1

      The main purpose of the throttle controller is to increase the gas pedal response/sensitivity so that acceleration is faster, so not sure why you're criticising it for not producing any more HP or TRQ when that's not what it's for. Its designed to improve your acceleration times, by increasing the performance of your engine and minimising the lag, so I'd suggest you try it out before suggesting it's placebo 😉
