- We Install a EVC I-drive throttle controller on our Suzuki Jimny. The process is similar for most throttle controllers and vehicles. If you really want to save fuel I suggest economy modes as the dampening of the accelerator will force your driving style to conserve fuel.
A.C. Mode is my personal favorite as its a balance of speed and fuel economy. Test all modes to find your preference.
I have tested it for a Month and reduced my fuel consumption by 10% on A.C. Mode. The drive is much smoother and hunting for gears has also stopped when you need power to overtake.

Installation:
Step 1:
Turn off the ignition Key
Step 2:
Wait 10 minutes before removing accelerator plug.
“This is necessary to avoid the check engine light going on.”
Step 3:
If the module is unplugged from the display unit connect it together.
Step 4:
Locate the accelerator plug situated on top of the pedal assembly. Carefully press the release clip on the plug with your thumb and pull it up to release it from the pedal assembly.
Step 5:
Plug the male end of the of the adapter into the pedal assembly.
Step 6:
Plug the original cable from the pedal assembly into the female end of the adapter.
At this point I prefer to test my accessories before actually fitting and final installation. Great its working!
Step 7:
Positioning your Display controller based on your driving position. Affix the controller to final position of the interior.
Step 8:
Run cables neatly in the dash and connect up to module.
Step 9:
Use cable ties to attach module out of the way of accelerator assembly.
Step 10:
Tie excess cable length under dash with cable ties. I used a longer cable tie to help with the position I chose.
Step 11:
Ensure that the controller is set to match your Automatic or Manual transmission
Press and hold the mode key for 3 seconds this will display 00 for manual transmission or 88 for automatic.

Helpful video! Cheers mate. Will try to install mine tomorrow.
cool, its a easy job just looks longer because I have to record every step. :)
Automatic control ( ac) mode is for both automatic and manual. Its the perfect setting and has nothing to do with automatic transmissions
Thanks for video. What made you decide on the EVC controller in particular & not say the PowerPlus one. These two appears to be the most popular in SA. I am also considering installing one & can't decide. It appears that both do pretty much the same or is there any noteworthy difference between the two?
Thank you for watching, at the time I drove an automatic Jimny with EVC controller and was impressed. I also got the EVC at a discount price. Most Jimny owners go with power plus. I think its probably the same but in the end controller is life changing.
TIP: AC or auto mode works the best for road use. 😁
@@lifeafterthirty Thanks for the feedback!
Can you install this on a manual transmission as well? Or is it only for an automatic
Its for both manual and auto. You choose the setting.
Will it remember the last settings before shutting off the engine?
Hi, yes it will remember. 👌
@@lifeafterthirty thank you sir for the reply
hello, could you help me, I want to buy but I don't know which one is compatible with the suzuki jimny, where can I buy it in amzon USA.
Hi, we purchased it locally in South Africa. Here's the company website. Contact Johnny. bakkieandoutdoor.co.za/
There are many different brands/makes of throttle controllers available online. Have you checked with your local Jimny community what brand/make would they recommend?
Thank you for your answer, I am from Ecuador, the suzuki jimny in my country is very new, so they do not sell many accessories, but in a week I traveled to the United States and wanted to buy of throtlle controllers on amazon, and the only one what is on the amazon page is the PEDAL COMMANDER and it costs $300, but I wanted to see a throttle controller to be able to test its operation, there are several on amazon like the 9 DRIVE that was $60 but I don't know if it is compatible connection cables with the jimny.
Oh wow, I see that's huge difference in price. Our throttle controller converted from ZAR to USD = $138. Maybe see what the neighboring south American countries are using. I wish I could help you but do not know what will work from amazon.
I know that the controllers are specific to your car so you have to find one that's designed for your Suzuki Jimny this will be plug and play so cable should fit if its for Gen4 JB74.
Hi there. Any issues with vehicle warranty if installing on a new jimny?
Won't it revoke your factory warranty
Yes any modifications will. In the video I mention how to install so that it can be easily unplugged when you send the vehicle in for service.
I heard it harm the Car engine. Am I right?
Wow, here in South Africa we are all installing controllers but no one has reported any engine damage.
Will this affect your warranty?
no
Its plug and play but to prevent any issues, I remove from the car when its going to dealer.
