    I just installed the evcX on my 3rd gen Tacoma. Wow! What a difference. Ultimate9 is crazy fast. The truck has so much more power than the factory setting. ECO9 makes the truck start out slowly, but as the truck gains speed, you can feel the throttle allowing the truck to open up a bit. I haven't tested it, but it seems that fuel economy is going to improve quite a bit using this mode. As Kelly pointed out, I agree think Adapt mode is the way to go for most driving situations. In addition, I really liked that I could switch between modes 'on the fly'. Installation was super easy, and not having to leave the Driver Interface plugged in is great. Thanks very much Kelly for doing this video! As always, top notch and great information.

    I’ve had this on my 4Runner as a layer for theft prevention for 4 months now. I’ve actually never tried ECO mode on it, just used it to lock out the peddle input. I will say, installing this isn’t easy due to lack of room, but it is a set it and forget it item, especially with the phone Bluetooth interface. I’m going to try the ECO mode to see if it makes a difference. Most of the time I drive it in Factory mode, as I worry about any issues or codes popping up. Once in awhile I put it in Ult mode level 4, as I do feel the power loss of my C load 285s, skid plates and roof rack (weight and drag). I can say I’ve had no issues with it so far.

      Nice. I’m a huge fan. Try eco mode and let me know what you think. There definitely is a lag to slow your acceleration but that is how you get better MPG. I’ve been running it ever since I got and am a huge fan.

      @@AdventureBuilt I tried the initial ECO mode which starts out in the lowest setting (slowest throttle input), and the input was so slow it was scary (be hit from behind if changing lanes?). What level are you using in ECO mode? Additional question, I’m assuming that the Factory setting on your Ultimate9 defaults to your tune setting which is still better than stock … is this a correct assumption. On my 2022 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium, I’m considering getting a tune done (I only have 8,000 kms on my vehicle).

    How is MPGs in the ADAPT function?

    • @AdventureBuilt
      @AdventureBuilt  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I would have to say it’s a little better than stock since when you accelerate the truck really moves. When you let off the gas it goes into exo mode which saves fuel. It’s kind of a wash. It’s my favorite mode.

    I’ve installed today on my Outback but something messed up
    My Check Engine light came up and Brakes Lights Came up and suddenly the car didn’t move no matter how much I’ve floored the gas
    Maybe the Launch mode cause the issue

      I ran into the same issue using pedal commander. The problem isn't the software or anything it modifies. The issue is it draws all of its power through the pedal and actually leaches power from the rest of the system. My transmission stopped shifting and I was locked in overdrive with my check engine light permanently on among other lights that I can't remember until I reset the battery. Pedal monster is what I would recommend instead unless there's something better.

    Does this work in conjunction with MTS, Crawl Control or rear lockers? Would you have to set it to factory?

    So what are you now getting (sans trailer) in adapt mode compared to what you were normally getting?

    • @AdventureBuilt
      @AdventureBuilt  Před rokem

      So in adapt I feel like I get more acceleration during take off then it kicks into eco mode when I hit my cruising speed. You definitely won’t get eco MPG but you will get the better and you still get acceleration. That is the only thing bad about eco mode. If you ever have to get going fast, eco will not allow it.

    • @glockguide
      @glockguide Před rokem

    Does it work with the cruise control to get you up steep hills easier and more fuel efficiently? I know that Tacoma and fuel efficient are a contradiction of terms! 🤣😂🤣

    • @AdventureBuilt
      @AdventureBuilt  Před rokem +1

      In the eco9 my rig has a hard timing keeping 60-65 in cruise control. It seems to want to kick down into 5th gear then back up to 6th. You definitely feel a sluggish power in Eco9 but you kinda have to give somewhere to get better gas mileage. If I’m driving and the truck is stressing to keep 65 I just do 60. I am retired after all. 😂

    • @zalllon
      @zalllon Před rokem +1

      Throttle controllers don’t work with cruise control as the input is not coming from the throttle pedal but the truck ECU. The only thing to make a difference when using cruise control is a tune.
