    The look on your face when you played it. Only a father looks at a child like that. I can see there is a lot more put into your instruments than wood and glue. I hope it finds a loving home.

    These are such great looking instruments. The little carved rose on the back is really a special touch.

    Rosa mandolins are surely master-grade. If anything you are being modest about it, players will be coveting them well beyond all our years. It sounds alive.

    Im currently in the market for a mandolin. Ive got "Rosa" taste, with a "Eastman" pocketbook. Haha! Its gorgeous though Mr. Jerry. That pick wear doesnt hurt it at all. Just shows its been loved, and has plenty of character. Nothing as pretty as an F-5 style mandolin!

    Jerry, beautiful instrument and I noticed it has a maple back, just like your recent build, which sounded so fine.
    I'll give you $20 for it.

    that is a awesome sounding piece of art. i will not own anything like that any time soon unless some lottery favours me very much in the future. so until then, I'll play my old kinda-restored-to-playable flee-market Italian bowl style mandolin.

  • @boydbc
    @boydbc Před 4 lety +1

    That is one sweet sounding mandolin! My headphones maybe lying to me but that mandolin seems to have a good balance of sweetness and bark. Is this the impression you get in the room playing it Jerry? I doubt I could do it justice, but I'll be keeping an eye out on this auction. The pick wear adds a lot of character to it. Not a fan of fake wearing an instrument, but I do like to see honest wear on a used instrument. Please keep us in the loop on it! Thanks as always.

    Other than those two minor flaws in the surface of the mandolin it looks brand new. Someone is going to get a very nice instrument. I would dispute the comment in the video saying the sustain of the instrument is in any way related to the type of tailpiece. I would put it down to the wood and general construction of the instrument.

    • @RosaStringWorks
      @RosaStringWorks  Před 4 lety +2

      Obviously the construction matters greatly for sustain. The comment is saying that the solid tailpiece AIDS the sustained. That is widely understood and widely known to anyone who builds instruments. A heavy peg head and a solid tailpiece always help sustain.

    I'm sure there's some aspiring player who would love to snag that up. Put it out there, especially on eBay. Give it a realistic value with a reserve. Once folks know about it (and refer them to this vid so they can see and hear) someone somewhere will be interested!
