  • • Electric + Hydraulic =... - Homemade Electric Wheelbarrow
In today's video, we will show you how to make a hydraulic kit that will be used in the video where we will build an electric vehicle to transport various loads. Link above.
In order for the starter to be used as a motor, I had to lock the axle in one place so that it would not slide out.
Then I made a mounting from the sleeve so that the starter could drive the pump.
When both elements were joined together, I started working on the hydraulic oil tank. I used a large square tube and flat bars for this, which saved a lot of work.
The next step was to connect all the hydraulics and conduct a test.
In the video we showed how much force this set has when crushing various things, but in fact, it will be used to lift the loading box in an electric vehicle.

    Hi Guys.
A lot of you write about the continuous work of this set, but I haven't mentioned it anywhere. This will be used in a cycle of 10 seconds on, 5 minutes off, so no worries.
Some of you may ask "why didn't you buy a hydraulic power pack on ebay?"
It is because I wanted to see if it is possible to make such a set and if it will work, and learn more about power hydraulics :)

It's absolutely incredible to me the amount of power such small pumps and motors can produce.

here, a safety valve is also needed to avoid overload at idle and a damper between the hydraulic pump and the engine, since this pump has no bearings, and the aluminum bushings quickly break if the drive is poorly aligned with the pump. And this electric motor will burn out, since it is not designed for long-term operation.

I agree with what others have said about having a switch activate the pump when the lever is moved, would simplify things a bit.
Also, you should incorporate a pressure relief valve. This will prevent stalling of the pump and motor when situations arise that could do so, such as when the ram hits end of travel, or load is too high for the system.

    • @oh8wingman
      @oh8wingman Před 2 lety

Most automotive starters have what is called a 5 and 5 duty cycle. It simply means that you can run for a maximum of 5 seconds and then 5 seconds off. If you extend the run time to say 10 seconds and the cool time left at 5 seconds, it would last significantly shorter and it would still burn out prematurely against normal usage. This is due to the fact that these motors have no provision for cooling. If you were to place the motor in a container that would hold dry ice, the cooling effect would make the motor last much longer.
