NBA is terrible at promoting anything more than five minutes old. They could learn a lot from the old NFL Films mini-documentaries from the seventies and eighties in particular. Those were so good.

Because today's players and too many fans want to believe they are the best and no one before could possibly be as good. It's the only league where modern players are so narcissistic. We don't see this from MLB, NHL, NFL players.
I really feel like the league office, traditional media and new media push this narrative all the time. It's ridiculous.
