    Histamine intolerance, a condition affecting many, can often present a diagnostic challenge. Patients with histamine intolerance may experience a range of symptoms, from gastrointestinal issues to skin reactions. However, diagnosing this condition isn't straightforward, as there's no definitive test.
    Common symptoms such as diarrhoea, headaches, and hives can all point to histamine intolerance, but confirming it requires a nuanced approach including investigating potential underlying causes such as microbiome imbalances, mast cell issues, nutrient deficiencies, and genetic SNPs. Advanced tests like stool analysis and organic acid tests can provide valuable insights into gut health and nutrient status.
    For example, abnormalities in enzymes related to histamine metabolism, due to genetic variations or nutrient deficiencies, can contribute to histamine intolerance. Understanding these factors helps tailor treatment approaches, including dietary modifications and targeted supplementation.
    While genetic testing can offer valuable insights, functional tests like organic acid testing provide more actionable data. By addressing underlying imbalances and deficiencies, patients can often find relief from histamine intolerance symptoms.
    In Australia, accessible tests like the Complete Microbiome Mapping from Microba and GI Effects from Genova Diagnostics provide comprehensive evaluations of gut health.
    Histamine intolerance can pose diagnostic challenges, a proper assessment that considers various factors can lead to effective management strategies and clinical success!

    I wish I could work with you. I’m in the US and struggling so badly. Do you know of any herbalists in the US that you would recommend? I saw on your website that you can’t take international patients

    Great video, as always. You’re one of the only people on the major platforms who actually talks in a nuanced way about root causes for this condition/syndrome. The only other ones I know about are Nasjree Nambudripad and Nicole Dinezza. Piecing all this info together can potentially tremendously help people, although I also believe people should be guided through this with the help of someone who has clinical experience. That’s why I find it unfortunate that you don’t take international patients. But nonetheless, thanks for sharing this video.

    Thank you for your time and input on this complex issue Todd. There are so many areas that can contribute, and trying to figure out the root cause can be overwhelming. I had an op 6 months ago which involved a course of antibiotics and am now feeling the after effects which has resulted in elevated strains of Candida. Even though I took probiotics. Now I have raised histamine issues after eating. Especially foods on the no list. Also hives for the first time. Am taking a lot of the supps recommended, good diet, detoxing metals etc. Occasionally I take an antihistamine just to calm the flare but try to resist relying on these. Do you know what the H2 blocker antihistamines in Australia are? With appreciation 🙏

    If you have IgE to grass pollens and have hayfever symptoms, is that linked to a histamine intolerance? You mentioned IgE at the start of the video, but I wasn't sure if you mean it is connected with a histamine intolerance. I am wondering how I could help my severe hayfever symptoms from grass pollen, with a high IgE to grass pollen, as in how to address the cause of it, rather than manage the symptoms.

    • @ByronHerbalist
      @ByronHerbalist  Před 5 měsíci +1

      IgE is one of the most potent triggers of mast cell degranulation and histamine release into the body (more here www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8392195/#:~:text=Mast%20cells%20are%20activated%20upon,histamine%20to%20trigger%20inflammatory%20responses.) Hope that helps!

    Wow!! Super, super helpful video. Thank you for parsing out the various categories of each possible histamine intolerance driver. I am going to use this information when I meet with my functional medicine team tomorrow to figure out my testing options. Here recently, I have experienced some major histamine intolerance relief from: 1) being (temporarily) on low histamine diet and 2) using the Seeking Health Histamine Digest dietary supplement. Life saver! 🎯🎯🎯 Thank you for this incredibly well researched information. You are a GEM! 💕💕By God's grace, I hope to get to the bottom of this gut microbiome/GI/dysbiosis road block. Goodness, it's been a rollercoaster! ♥🙏

    Why is it required to go to such lengths to diagnose the root cause? Do you not employ broadly the same treatment regardless anyway? Once histamine has been identified as the issue that is.

    • @Ruktiet
      @Ruktiet Před 5 měsíci +1

      And what treatment might that be then, according to you?

    • @ByronHerbalist
      @ByronHerbalist  Před 5 měsíci +3

      This would be a gross oversimplification of a complex problem. For most histamine intolerance cases finding and addressing the reason why is the only way to completely recover. You can mask the symptoms with diet and supplements. I wish it was a simpler approach but that hasn't been my experience walking hundreds of people through this process.

    I’m confused as I’m experiencing what I think is histamine intolerance with allergic reactions to foods the last month or so with severe asthma symptoms but I don’t know if it’s mcas. I’ve been tested for environmental allergies and have AR and Nadal polyps but now with gluten n soy and alcohol etc.. it’s so frustrating. My naturopath is testing me first for sibo ? Thinks it could also be estrogen related. I’m hoping there’s a solution for this 🫤
