    Well that was a desirable job, said no one ever lol. Thx for letting us know how many bags it will take. I have this same task coming up this summer for my 84 square body. I subbed you. Hope to see you around.

    With working outside in the dirt or grass areas, you could always put a tarp or two underneath the frame to collect a lot of the sand to reuse.

      I considered doing something like that but I decided that the hassle of trying to recollect the media and likely have it be pretty contaminated wasn't worth it compared to just buying more media. If I had an indoor blasting room where I could sweep it up I would probably do that.

    Just an idea... would acid bath be an option?

    • @BarnBuiltFabrications
      @BarnBuiltFabrications  Před 10 měsíci

      I have seen acid bath done to remove paint before but not to strip rust off of a frame. I would imagine it could be done but not everyone has an acid bath lying around and the people who do you probably want to avoid...... Good question though, I am sure it would be a cleaner process for sure.

    What air compressor you running

      I have a 60 gallon single stage hooked up to an 80 gallon expansion tank for 120gal capacity. After exiting the tanks I have a custom air dryer/filter system that I put together to handle the capacity and deliver really dry, clean air. I will make a quick video in the short future of the setup as I have gotten questions on it previously and it may give someone some ideas in setting up their own system. -Chris

    Was it worth it to DIY? Or would you rather pay to have it done professionally next time? or how much would you be willing to pay?

      Was it worth it/ would I rather of had someone professional do it is a tough question to answer for someone else because what is best for me may not be the best option for someone else. For me I would say it was worth it especially after I worked out my media screening issues. I knew that I will be using the sand blaster again in the future on many different things. Some things to consider are the space that you have to use it, how often you'll use it, and the other things you need to make it work. I was running 120psi and have a custom 140gal air set up with a air dryer system I built. I will make a video of that one day going over the set up I am running. I would guess I have $600-800 in air compressor system, blaster, and media. If you have an air system already you are still likely looking at ~$300 in blaster and media. I would weigh the things I mentioned against the price of someone coming and doing it for you and decide what is worth it for you. Sorry for the lengthy response I hope that helps! -Chris

    I have been doing wet abrasive blasting for a long time now, since the original machines came out before greco bought them out.... lemme tell ya, blasting sucks. those machines always have issues. I am not going to go on a huge rant but ugh....I wouldnt recommend anyone blast. its just horrible....except for the final result....thats the only good part....until you see what all you have to clean up after.... hahahah

      Certainly not the most pleasant experience as you've said. I moved the party outside so I wouldn't have to worry as much about the mess though.
