Man, what a massive step up these were over what we had to drive before that (Jeeps, Blazers, etc). Some of the things the factory guy had me do on the field test made me think he was insane, but the Hummer just plowed through it all. It was such a blast!

What male doesn't like Hummers? I mean I'm not saying you'd have to own one but damn. I mean they are the modern jeeps and work horses of the American military. They are iconic. Take away the turd 6.2 and add a dmax and you have a winner. Their 4 wheel independent coil suspension alone is one of a kind then you add their portal hubs and you truly have a one of a kind engineering marvel. Plus they can be configured from a 2 door truck to a 4 door wagon and everything inbetween. Simply amazing vehicle among the broad scope of the 100 year automotive history. AM General also made a large number of the US Mail jeeps of the 70's and 80's. As a company they are kind of a forgotten auto maker. Then you have the Lambo 002 connection along with Chrysler and their GI Joe Vamp truck with it's underpowered 318 mid engine configuration.

it would clean off but they just cleaned it and probably have not had it baptized before. the snorkel is there just for looks but it was on there before so leave it on there. if you're going to go for a dip in your $200k truck then you are going to want to avoid river fording for the most part with the fancier interiors. even then, you can strip it down to the metal and replace everything to keep the mold out. like he said, it might get dirty and it would take a great deal of effort to detail it afterwards these are show trucks

Hey Jay. Another awesome video. It's about time you did a vid on the H1 Hummer. I was more than disappointed when Hummer discontinued the H1 for civilian use. The H2 and H3 are nice vehicles, but I've always liked the H1 for its 6.5 litre Detroit Diesel turbo diesel engine and 4 wheel independent suspension, and its military heritage. You can almost tow a 5th wheeler with it, and it wouldn't break a sweat. This is my idea of what a truck should be, comfortable to ride in, but rugged enough to tackle any off-road driving should one choose to do. It's a damn shame that neither were used on the H2 or even H3. Civilian vehicles are nice, but I have always liked military and fleet vehicles. Military vehicles are more durable, for the most part, than civilian vehicles.
