Rodan Vs Jets and King Ghidorah Scene - Godzilla: King of the Monsters 2019

- Ghidorah later reappears in a massive storm near Mexico, shortly after Rodan, is freed from his volcanic nest. Monarch attempts to goad the two monsters into fighting each other, with Ghidorah easily defeating Rodan by sending him falling into the ocean. He proceeds to attack the Monarch crew, but Godzilla emerges from the sea to fight him off. Godzilla tears off Ghidorah's left head. Desperate and left with no options, the military is forced to detonate the Oxygen Destroyer missile, seemingly killing both Titans. However, Ghidorah is unaffected by the effects of the missile, which was specifically designed to eliminate all lifeforms in the area by removing all surrounding oxygen.

The fact that Rodan had the balls to go straight at ghidorah is still such a badass moment
I believe that Rodan is one of the strongest monster in monsterverse. One level below the king (like tiamat or amhuluk).
@@anggito.k9627 I mean he'd probably lose to tiamat unless he litterally picks up tiamat from the water which is HIGHLY unlikely due to tiamats sheer size but I think he can definitely beat amhuluk he doesnt have much feats other than asserting dominance over behemoth which also is a kaiju with no feats.

I cannot stop coming back to this scene. It's one of the most well done and perfected movie scenes of all time. The sheer size and power of Rodan... I can't even put it into words.

@@dirgewordsmithe they made the pilots fly like retards so rodan could pick them off easier, and as someone who loves the F-22 Raptor, it hurts to watch how childish/nerfed they made them in this chase. Rodan is still OP regardless, however them staying in formation so much made it unrealistic to actual close quarter dog fighting and too easy to catch them.
@@DSG411 it's crazy, I know NOTHING about jets, but I figured they must have applied their typical movie physics to make it look more simple than it would be in reality; like the script called for trained, skilled pilots to line up to be killed off in a dope visual. Smh. It was a VERY cool visual, but I appreciate the insight!
@@dirgewordsmithe it was the typical "this needs grounding in realism...but make it cooler" hollywood mentality. Honestly, they easily couldve got away with the scrambling aspect if they kept the physics up in how Rodan flies over anything and wrecks it, but as soon as he goes over the ocean...calmest seas everywhere. If Rodan realized he could create tidal waves to aim at the jets, or he doesnt realize it and the jets had to maneuver around them with most flying into them, that wouldve been awesome to include and still end with a barrel roll (jets seemed to not try to avoid it, however the one jet that made rodan smile and start rolling seemed to get away...to fly right back and die?).
I agree, its a great visual, and in a monster movie i know realism goes out the window for the most part, but SOME grounding wouldve been awesome, and keeping rodan OP without nerfing everyone else to make it happen seems insulting to Rodans potential, just as in the span of less than 5 minutes, he woke up, owned the skies, and became Ghidorah's bitch.

King Ghidorah is far the scariest monster that give us chills
Let’s not forget the fact that Rodan can cause mass destruction with minimal effort. First he flattens a town just by flipping his wings and whip out a whole fleet by doing a barrel row.
Big as a battleship, fast as a missile, agile as a falcon, tougher than a tank, smart as a human. No pilot is trained to fight something like that.
1:35 how is no one talking about that fact that the scene is timed out almost perfectly for 3:23 at the Ghidora reveal. Like the fact it’s only 10ish seconds off is wild to me.

Rodan's defiance against Ghidorah is undoubtedly courageous, but let's not forget the balls of the pilots in those fighter jets. They confronted this monstrous embodiment of a tornado wreaking havoc upon the city with its massive wings, yet had the courage to return and provoke him, inciting his rage and drawing him towards Ghidorah.
That did take guts, but OTOH they didn't really understand that Rodan is not only huge, tough, and fast, but incredibly agile in the air, and as tactically smart as a human.

Mate, Hands down the absolute BEST scene out of this entire masterpiece. Rodan OWNS this scene even with his defeat at the Hands of Ghidorah. And that is a defeat that only happened due to the writers and directors not wanting Ghidora to be double teamed by Rodan and Godzilla. In all likelihood Rodan had a very high Chance to defeat Ghidorah on his own. His heat level 🔥 after being awash in molten lava for over such a lengthy period only made him more formidable and his INTELLIGENCE in terms of combat and unparalleled mobility and maneuvers cultivated over years of taking on other behemoths land and Air, would make Rodan a SERIOUS AND FORMIDABLE opponent for ANY of these characters. I hated that they watered him down just to give more push to Godzilla and Ghidorah. Not one other beast had the aura that Rodan had in spades here in this marvelous scene.
I mean I agree its one of the BEST moments in the entire movie but Ghidorah either way would probably beat rodan I wager Rodan could've had the first half of the fight controlled due to his sheer speed and momentum but in the end ghidorah's size, and power are just too overwhelming.

Were those bunker busters? I could see regular missiles not being effective, since that much can be explained away because some organisms can produce substances stronger than steel, or some that incorporate iron into their defence, like the iron shelled snail, but nothing would defend against bunker buster missiles. Not even thick, reinforced kaiju hide.

I don't understand movies. Why do fighter jets always persist on firing at their targets from 50 metres away? Those missiles can hit targets from well over 50 miles away. So why risk getting hit by debris from your exploding target? Or as in the case of this movie, why risk getting eaten by a giant alien bird? Just fire from 5 mules away, or at least two miles away and turn and burn.
