Instead of hooking the sound to the blinker, could you just tie it to a power source that's on when the car is on to get the alarm to sound when a vehicle is close by?
The way its wired, the sound portion only works when the blinkers are used. Thanks

I think that if it’s getting constant power then if you’re at a light and there’s a car next to you It would just activate the alarm nonstop

Thanks Brian. I believe you intentionally selected an easy car to modify. I have a 2004 CRV and it was not a fun car to install this on. Wish you would have discussed how to tap into the acc. wire for power. In my case I went off the radio as the cigarette lighter wire was no long enough to splice.

Great Video! Quick question: basically to power the sensors, speaker, etc is all from tapping in to the turn signal power wire. Since the signal blinks will the power be intermittent like how the signal bulb blinks or will it be a steady source of power?

    • @emmanuel6616
      @emmanuel6616 Před 5 lety

I'd like to know this answer as well since i think power is only supplied the turn signals when they are on. When off how are the sensors powered?

@@emmanuel6616 I know this is 2 years later but I see no one actually answered this question yet lol, I believe there is another red wire you would have to connect it to any power source. If I couldn’t find any I would’ve just connected it to the night lights and would’ve turn my lights on all the time so they get power the whole time. But probably there should be a power source

License plate light is a good source or blinkers or brake lights. They always have power but the ground is what gets cut off and on to make the lights blink. The power wire will have power if the car is on

    Hello,
My LEDs blink once on startup. Then they blink once (but much brighter) when an object is detected. Does it matter if you:
    * Connect the power and ground to a cigarette lighter?
    * Do not connect the yellow and white wires to the indicators?
Right side blinks once when you pass a building or other stationary object. Should that happen?
    Thanks!

    L.M.A.C.O. LOL
All Voice, no beeping? Voice tells the driver how many feet, inches away that the vehicle is from your vehicle. Drivers side approaching vehicle / passenger side approaching vehicle with beep as the vehicle gets closer , 1 foot continuous beep. Sounds like a great idea huh?? Some dumb people drive without lights on at night , sad but true!! This isn't 2010 anymore, we want cool ways of knowing, vibration mini motors in the seats, one on one left cheek and the other one on the right cheek of our ass cheeks in case the radio is too loud you can feel the vehicle getting closer!! I purchased an OtoNavi through Amazon. The seller - "OttoNavi" - refuses to provide map updates, which is completely contradictory to their statement on their FAQ page. After multiple messages with the seller on Amazon, the seller's only irrelevant complaints are that I am harassing and threatening them with consumer complaints. I sent the license file that came on the MSD card with the unit at Naviextras behest and they discovered they "You seem to have become the victim of software piracy, this license is used by a lot of cracked software. It is illicit and we do not provide any support for it." Kudos to Naviextras! The seller offers no phone support (read: no phone number on their site) and claims they are "not allowed" to call customers, even on their time off with their personal phone. I even offered to have them call me collect.
I don't suspect they are in the States, but Amazon, and Naviextras have started an investigation and a formal complaint has been filed with the USFTC. I quick search suggested the seller is located in some small, obscure building in the Los Angeles suburbs, so I've filed a complaint with the California Attorney General's Office as well, but OttoNavi and/or this seller seem to be well-cloaked.
The unit itself is incapable of displaying audio file tags. The seller claimed they weren't aware of this, nor did they know what "metadata" was. The seller claimed it was because the unit went into an antiquated '07 Toyota FJ Cruiser.
    Regards
    William Kiefer.
