Well she wasn't really leaving, she was planning to buy him out, meaning she would want him to leave. You can't exactly "just do" that without their knowledge. And it wasn't about money, it was about control. As it stood, even though Sarah was seeing someone else, she still lived in a house with him, as did their children, and he could make her life more difficult and uncomfortable in many small and large ways. If she buys him out, even if she planned to then sell it and move herself afterwards, he would no longer have that power to be unpleasant and difficult every day- payback for "daring" to not want to stay with him and taking his children.

      That's a very good idea.
That could be a mandatory type law. Helen's Law in the UK, but i don't think we have anything like that in the States
I've been thinking that there should be _mandatory_ course work for certain types of inmates.
Everyone should be required to take a basic first aid & CPR course. - renewed every two years.
Everyone should have math literacy classes (at their appropriate levels)
They have to take a vocation course - even if they already have
one. Or they can choose a hobby & they have to complete a project. Burglars & thieves should have to take ... bookkeeping, typing/keyboarding and (i think) sborthand. I know it's "obsolete" but i think old skills should be maintained - in case of a grid failure or an apocalypse. Who knows what might be needed?
But i think DV convicts should have to complete an Anger Management Course, a basic psychology & sociology course, a women's study &/or literature class, a People of Color history &/or literature class.
There's a few others i think are appropriate - but you get the idea.
There sentencing would _include_ the finishing of their course work - there'd need to be a minimal GPA (say 3.0) to show they paid attention. But the sentence would be "X" amount of time *_PLUS_* the assigned course work. Release would be dependent on finishing _both_ parts - the date determined bt whichever came last.

A man who can murder his partner or ex-partner is cold enough, but add to that a man who kills the mother of his children and you’ve found the cruelest, most evil of men. To deprive someone of their life is vile and repulsive but to deprive your own children of their mother and leave them to suffer without her, and in this case, without her body to properly bury and have a place to visit is unconscionable and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. This “man” should have been given life without parole for what he has taken away from the very ones he is supposed to protect from harm and suffering. Thank goodness he didn’t get away with Sarah’s murder and then given full custody of their children. Every child deserves better than that monster could offer them.
