  • In this LearnElectrics video we will look a little deeper into lighting circuits and compare the differences between two common wiring styles.
Some recent questions about lighting have included …
How do we connect the wiring for 2 way lighting in a 2 plate lighting system?
How can we convert 2 plate 2 way lighting into intermediate lighting?
What is the difference in wiring between 2 plate and 3 plate lighting for 2 way and intermediate circuits?
This video will give additional information as well as supplementing other videos that we have on lighting circuits.

Thankyou very much Dave. Am i right in saying that on a 3 plate circuit the blue neutral wire is a switching live cable while on a 2 plate its carried on through as a neutral? This is so much better explained than where i did my domestic training thankyou its amazing the clarity you bring to this.

2:31 Where would the feed out cable go?
The neutral into the connector block, earth into the earthing terminal. Would the live go into the common, with the black, so there is 2 in each or would it go into either L1 or L2? So there would be 1 wire in the common, 3 in L1 or L2 and 2 in the other terminal?

For two way lighting, the incoming Line (feed) goes into L1 of the switch.

@learnelectrics4402 Yes, the feed in line would go into the L1 so the black can go into the common. Where does the feed out line go?
