  • There are several methods for wiring up lighting circuits and for many years the wiring styles were not formalised. The result of this is that we may come across many different wiring methods in our work.
    Understanding how these different methods have been used for one way lighting, two way and intermediate lighting will make working with these circuits easier and safer.
    Confidence in how the circuit is wired means that repairs, changes, or additions to the circuit can be carried out safely and efficiently. Learn these different methods and add them to your mental toolbox.
    This is video number 199 and to view all our videos type in LearnElectrics all one word into the CZcams search bar.

      Thanks for watching. Lots more to come. If you're in Carrbridge, I stopped in the Carrbridge Hotel late last year, on my way to a job on Lewis. Great steak, good beer. Dave.

    I was taught this method in college but I must admit I always dropped it in favour of the 5 wire method!
    Great vid as always though Dave!

      Different advantages with each method Andy. With older circuits you could across anything.
      Hope you're keeping well. Dave.

    Is there a reason why this isn't the preferred method for 2 plate 2 way wiring, all the videos on CZcams including your own usually show the method with 3 core and cpc between switches this just adds more cables and more complication ?

    • @learnelectrics4402
      @learnelectrics4402  Před rokem +1

      The biggest difference is that the permanent line input and the switched line output come from different switches. The more modern methods use a twin and earth to the same switch as permanent line and switched line. good question, thanks. Dave.
