This is my selection of implements for manually splitting firewood; they include a 5kg (11lb) splitting maul, a 4kg (8.8lbs) splitting axe, an ordinary felling axe, two sledge hammers and a variety of wedges.
Hi Mike. Sounds like we are very similarly equipped, though I have never been interested in the wood grenades. I also have a 16 and a 20 pound sledge, but have never used the 20 pounder for my splitting work. Depending on how stubborn your wood decides to be, I can see where the 20 might need to be called in. Can't close without commenting that I love the look and sound of where you live.
+Terry Hale Thanks Terry. If I was another hundred feet higher you would see some real scenery overlooking the local lake. I'll try and show it in the next one. I use the wood grenade for finishing off a split only. It is fairly inefficient at starting an opening in a round.
Great video. Nice tools.
+paulj C Thanks Paul.
Great video Mick.
+Katie Gilligan Katie: Great to hear from you. Thanks.
Mick. That's a great video, very informative. You have some selection of wood splitting gear. Well done.
+Gerry Crowley Thanks Gerry.
